Maybe it was just used as a way to get the kids to play together against other teams regardless of competition level in preperation for the upcoming tournament season. Maybe a chance to have them together before the school seasons start and time becomes more limited. There's probably something to be said for having them all come together to just play.
It seems like a waste of money to go to a tournament like that at this age but to each their own
