If you think like that, please do not instill that type of attitude in your children.

Does anyone know if there are rules regarding reclassification?
For instance can you start Kindergarten late,
Reclassify freshman year of HS and then go to prep school 2 years after HS and start College at 22 or 23?
Think about that advantage for the 23 year old freshman.

Yes, you can hold your kid back in Kindergarten (and many parents do).

Yes, you can reclass, I believe it is usually done in 8th or 9th grade.

Yes, you can do a PG year.

This has been going on for a long time and it is done to put the child in the best position possible, to give the kid an advantage.

These options are available to everyone and people have been doing it for many years. I went to college in the mid - late 80's and there were several kids on the team that did a PG year and were probably held back in kindergarten and yes, a HS friend reclassed / repeated 9th grade. I recall kids getting "left back" in early elementary school they were young for the grade and were having a tough time keeping up.

Traditionally the reclass / PG year has been done by wealthy families but now more and more people have been exposed to the potential advantages.

To each his own, do it or don't but it's not worth complaining about.
