Loyola has traditionally not recruited too many players from strong Island ... could be hurting them. Conversely, SBU recruits almost exclusively from LI and, since current coach took over has done consistently well. No championship yet, but they are definitely a top contender.
love him or hate him, he won a ton in D2 and turned SB around almost overnight. I dislike the stat padding and rough play but he can coach a 1000 times better then some of the other top 10 programs that win because of their rosters talent and not because of coaching
Believe it or not, and you probably won't, he discourages rough play. He actively tells them to dial it back. When you've got a team of all Long Island kids you're going to get it whether you ask for it or not.
