I'm a Villanova graduate, active alumni and somewhat involved in the university as a consultant.

It is a great school. If your student has the ability to go there I would make it a top choice. Having said that they do not support much sports beyond track & field and swimming for women. It's obviously a basketball school (though track & field is huge) on the men's side. How about women's' basketball? Not even competitive.

So where does women's lacrosse fall? Pretty far down the list. Facilities are terrible. Practice time is tertiary to many sports. It's just not a lacrosse school (men have had some success) for women.

They just raised money ($22 million from one man alone to put his name on the building) to renovate the on campus field house. Who benefits the most? Basketball and track & field.

But your daughter will get a great education.

The WLax Program is still not fully funded. Roster is large and coach splits scholarship $$$ relatively equally. (Goalie or Top Recruit may get a little more). Figure $5k-$7k. The University does not pool (stack) scholarships. If you are getting $5-$7k from lax, you get $0 Academic $$$. Lax will steer you away from nursing major.

Villanova costs somewhere in the $60k/year range.

A great education at a hefty price tag. Be forewarned...
