Coach will usually let player leave as long as transferring to out of conference school. If original school is a top 20 team, coach may not sign release to allow player to leave for another top 20 team.

Grass isn't always greener. D1 sports is competitive. SS had many players do well since her tenure began at Hofstra. College athletics isn't for everyone. Sometimes coaches yell, sometimes players get benched. D1 coaches (and fans) expect effort and results. Coaches have to make adjustments in order to achieve results and maximize effort. Hofstra had many injuries this past season. Had to use many players that really weren't ready to play at D1 level and many others who played out of position. They will be fine moving forward. They will get new players and coaches and they will be energized.
