the problem is it is an open tryout Anyone with checkbook can register. Given the number of players who need to be evaluated, there is a very high likelihood a great player can be missed and a marginal player can sneak by the evaluators
I actually think previous knowledge of player strength and weakness provides an improved evaluation process.
If this was not the case, colleges would not need to recruit they could simply tell interested HS school seniors to show up one weekend for a tryout and pick a recruit list from their own blind tryout
