Numbers of coaches watching 2021s during the summer is way down this year. Next year the number of coaches watching rising freshman in the summer will be down even further. Coaches are mainly at the 2019 games...maybe they stop and watch a little of a 2021 game if they are at a tournament, but they want to see 2019s this summer.

There are plenty of coaches at NY and New England state playoff games where the season ends after Memorial Day...and remember that most college coaches wrap up their season in early May. And if there are more uncommitted kids on the high school fields, there will be a lot of college coaches either watching live or on tape high school games. There are now a lot of live games streamed online. If I was a college coach, I would value seeing high school games more than summer games.

Before the early recruiting era, the Baltimore high schools played on Fridays and all of the local college coaches were at those games. During the early recruiting era it made little sense for a college coach to go to those games because the kids that they were recruiting were barely impact players since they were freshman and sophomores. It didn't make sense for a coach to watch a high school game where all of the recruitable players are already committed.

The world has changed.
