I find it extremely hard, actually impossible, to believe an 8th grader has committed to Navy. There are little things like GPA and SAT scores to be taken into consideration which they have neither.
I understand that you find it hard to believe, but that does not mean it is not true. The service academies do this just like everybody else. And the kid will either qualify to get in later through the application process or she won't.
