Calvert Hall and Loyola have 130+ kids in their lax program. Not a lot of minutes to go around. Lots of kids wash out at those places. It’s why you see so many ch and lb helmets for sale at consignment shops.

Split that up among f/s, jv and varsity.

That’s a TON of kids. There will be significant cuts and opt-outs. And still not a lot of minutes.

More opt-outs than cuts. Available spots: 60 varsity + 25-35 JV + 18-22 Soph + 22-25 Fresh. A good # of sophomores transfer or quit the sport all together if they do not make varsity their soph year.

As others have said, it depends on what the boys want out of their HS experience, and whether there is a realistic desire and commitment to play upper D1 or upper D2.
