Most accurate list, although still flawed, is the US Lacrosse All-American and All-Academic announcement. All other events/awards are pretty much lining pockets and taking your money.

For USL, most counties in the respective state have the league coaches present athletes to each other, then they tally votes and submit the final results to US Lacrosse. Legit players actually get a shot at consideration with the impressions they made on coaches during the season. There are too many coaches to influence so it's difficult to pay everyone off. Alliances and politics are played, sure, but it's a tough nut to crack for the parents. For the most part it's pretty accurate.
