Probably wishful thinking, but It would actually be very interesting to see if there were any clusters of cases as the result of summer tournaments (lacrosse, soccer, baseball, etc.), it would be very helpful going forward in regards to the safety of outdoor sports. While some of the tournaments were pretty crowded, others did a pretty good job limiting spectators. This information would also be helpful in order to have an educated conversation, as opposed to the constant "hope it was worth it" posts. To be honest, if there was little or no serious transmission as the result of tournaments...then,yes, it was worth it, and our kids had some level of normalcy in their lives...if it did result in a serious spike in cases, then, lesson learned, but at least we know as opposed to not knowing and spouting off baseless comments. Also, the absence of summer tournaments would have in no way guaranteed fall sports, so to suggest that the fall is ruined as a result is equally as baseless.
