The problem with a lot of these showcases including maverick is the politics. kids show up don't score a goal in 3 games and still make the all-star team- how does this even happen? you see it at almost every event . coaches kid or directors kid shows up, performs average at best and makes the all-star team-
You do realize some of the best players on the field don't score goals/or getting an assist, right? Players can make impact plays and show their worth/talent without scoring. Hustle plays like battling for a key loose ball or reaching the end line after a shot.... Setting a pick to free up a shooter.... Causing a turnover to start transition the other way.
I'm not saying politics don't play a role, but scoring isn't the only thing that makes a good player
