And the top 2021 was also a holdback. Funny how people on this board complain about other states with holdbacks yet the top recruit in the nation in 2021 and 2022 are Long Island holdback! Classic.

Because, to be the top recruit they will prob always be a holdback going forward!! LI has had to catch up on the holdback scene. The other regions are doing it way more and LI now realizing it’s prob. what needs to be done to be competitive with kids in holdback states like MD. Good for them! If it weren’t them, it would be a 2/3 year holdback from Maryland! LI is just catching up on this holdback craziness! If they don’t do it, chances slim of getting to play in top D1 school. It’s out of hand now.

Yes! Great justification

Don’t know about justification? But, definitely “realization”! If the sport allows this practice to continue, it’s almost impossible not to do it. In order to stay competitive in the highest levels that extra 1/2 years of growth and training gives you. Truthfully, I think the sport needs to go age based. Not sure what ruling body can change the rules at the youth/club levels? But, they should definitely consider it! Make it a more fair playing field early on.

US Lacrosse can but has chosen not to
Very few of the club tournaments have anything to do with US Lacrosse. Tournaments set their own age rules. As long as the cash is flowing in they don't care. It won't change until there is a legal challenge or accident and someone goes after the ownership for damages.
