Bottom line is that the current best teams in Maryland can not compete against best teams on LI when there is an age limit. No one disputes this, It is a shame, as in years pass MD could compete with age restrictions. No more.
Maryland teams don't think it's worth the hassle to kick 3 or 4 kids off the team and have tryouts to replace them for one weak tournament on the other side of the country. That is why NONE of the top 5 Maryland teams are going to Denver. Have fun playing a bunch of scrubs and a couple good LI teams. See you at the Millon tournament for a real National championship.
So if they are on the top 5 2022 teams...what reason would you have to kick 3or 4 kids off for the WSYL? Can't have it both ways . Can't deny you have 3 or 4 holdback per team on your top Maryland 2022 teams and then use the fact you have older boys that don't qualify as a way to put down an age based tournament. There are 8th graders on LI that qualify based on age..how old are the 3 or 4 MD kids on these top 5 2022 teams that would have to be kicked off?
