The truth about holdbacks from a non-holdback dad is that you don't elevate your stock that much from a recruiting perspective as a holdback. In a small subset like an individual high school team, holding back can make a big difference, but from the perspective of all the kids in the class nationwide, not so much. One year, or even two, does not change the kind of athlete you are compared to the rest of the kids in the country in that class. The most sought after recruits are the dynamic athletes. More often than not, you are either an incredible athlete or you aren't and one or two more years working with a trainer isn't going to change that.
