Notre Dame has their pick of the litter almost every year and the coach still can't find a way to win...

Sorry but that's just incorrect , Notre Dame actually struggles to get many of the top players , a combination of weather , location in terms of a pain to get to, a very demanding academic schedule , ultra expensive , are some of the reasons .

ND meets ALL need (same as the Ivy's)and has scholarship money as well, so finances are rarely an issue and the school recruits itself in every sport - yes if your grades suck it makes it harder to get in, but far from impossible, every team has a certain amount of kids who would never get in academically, but they do get in - they're called academic exceptions. Unfortunately, the school won't give the football team the amount of exceptions needed for them to be competitive, which is why Urban Meyer didn't take the job several years ago

This may offend some but stop with the Ivies and Schools like ND meet all need . They do if your household income is low enough . If you live on Long Island many will not qualify for any aide and are by no standards rich. While ND has gotten a few of the top recruits over the years there are many who had no interest for many reasons .
