Not just a dad comment either. Coach, player…at this age the best players play. If he plays LSM he is the 4th or 5th pole on the team

This is a fascinating discussion—and so much better than holdback talk—for those of us who are relatively new to the sport (introduced to it by our kids who play). My son plays LSM and I’ve always thought of it as a specialist position like faceoff since he runs off when possession is gained unless there’s a fast break. But a few years ago a Virginia LSM won midfielder of the year in college lacrosse, which apparently was a big deal because it’s always been an offensive award. I’m assuming that’s in part why you hedged with “Most of the time.” Maybe the UVA guy was a unicorn. Maybe the position is evolving. Would love some knowledgeable lacrosse people to chime in.
