The holdback discussion has been going on for years. For parents concerned about being disadvantaged, there is a great opportunity for your player to hone their skills against tougher competition. It will even out once you reach HS. In the meantime, develop their skills. I have witnessed many D-1 players with terrible passing and shooting techniques that, if corrected, would add much to their respective teams. If you want to play at the college level, you should be able to compete as a sophomore in HS against JR's and SR's. There is plenty of time; use it wisely to play other sports and work on skills.
