If he has the skills, he will make the better teams, but it has to be a clear standout performance at the tryout. No doubt that he has to be better or they go with what they know.


Agreed. The teams above generally know already who they are going to add. The coaches and directors will all have had significant inbound interest and likely made outbound interest. If you aren't in either of those groups your son would have to blow people away in tryouts and even then it will be tough. The top teams will have 100+ kids trying out for very few spots. If you are on a B team for one of the organizations above your coach would need to have the opinion that he is best on the team.
