The way the ranking system is set up, you don’t have to win any game to be ranked high in the rankings. A team can go 5-20. Play all top 20 teams, have a gd of -2 and still be to 10.

My team can play Spallina lose 50 straight games by 1 and still be ranked #2. Doesn’t go by wins and loses. Goes by strength of schedule and goal differential AVG not tot.

An example would be Skywalkers. They are 7-5-1 and ranked 5th.

This right here. "We want to win!" doesn't matter, you only have to be competitive.

As for "starting" vs everyone else, that doesn't really matter either. My kid is goalie and preferred the second half, so that's what she plays. She likes to watch the first half to get a read on the offense and identify the shooters. The other goalie tends to play better first half because she carries a certain vibe into the game. She loses energy standing on the sideline first half, which causes her to come into the game flat.

from experience I would ask to play the first half once in a while

the top coaches scatter in the second half to watch the second tier teams

happened on my daughters team where the second goalie placed way lower even though she was the strongest of the 2
