So the Team 89+2 MD "player of the week" is a 5th grader. And just happens to be the son of the owner.

USL while claiming to be for age base is in and run by Baltimore people. The Baltimore Region is where holdbacks rule the field.

I'm very confident clubs will go to Birthday cutoffs when the colleges stop evaluating based on graduation years.

Colleges will never go to age based recruiting? Why would they? Every sport recruits by grade. You don't see basketball and football parents - who see much more reclassing - this worked up as lacrosse parents are.

The kid is used to it by now. He plays 5th grade AAU. Keeps a birth certificate in his sports bag in case anyone wants to check his age. They should adopt AAU rules for lacrosse. If they did, it would finally put this recurring string to rest.

So grade based recruiting is responsible for having the mess we have with 3rd thru 8th grade teams. So the select heldback players get to play down against other same age players due to the recruitment in 9th thru 12 grade??? You guys are too funny!!

Especially since HS teams were all grade based and no one cared about the age difference?? HS lacrosse was a complete different structure then YOUTH Lacrosse..but it isnt to many now and many clubs want to keep it that way.

The issue with this age group is the abundance of crazy coaches. I have boys that play in older graduation years, the amount of daddy ball and coaches losing their mind on the sideline is ridiculous in 2024. Much more than what i have experienced in the past. I would hate to see some of these coaches in a couple of years when recruiting starts to kick in.

Madlax beat a good Brotherly Love team on Sunday. Madlax is probably the preseason #1. Bethesda and Team 91 are also good. Lots of talent in the HoCo league. Anybody could win any weekend.

I just stumbled upon this website while looking for kitten videos. I'm no weirdo.

There is no preseason #1 for a team with 5th grade boys. Nobody else thinks that way except insane Madlax parents. Just cheer for your kid and hope they have fun at this age.

Well they do keep score for 5th graders and they do have a winner in all the leagues and tournaments so the just for fun is just not correct. But what you can say is the players who are great today could not be great in 3 to 4 years this is a correct statement. But to say parents or kids do not care who is the best or that there is no one to find out witch team is the best is just not correct also.

It was MM. Really sad that he thinks it is okay to insult and threaten violence against 11 year old boys. But then if anyone comes within 5 yards of his kids, he has a conniption. Total hypocrite and disgrace to the game.

Yeah, I was there. Don't want to fuel fire but sadly true. Two T91 parents got ejected but don't think they deserved it. Millon kept yelling nasty things at the Madlax players to try and get under their skin. He called one of the Madlax players a [lacrosse]. He told his players to break one of the Madlax middies arms. He kept yelling that everyone on the Madlax team sucked except for the 9th grader. Then he yelled at the so-called 9th grader that he would "never make it at the next level." It was ugly to watch.

I hope somebody video taped this and will expose him... that is completely unacceptable. If true the parents who put their kids on his team are setting their kids up for verbal abuse.

He should be banned from coaching in the HoCo league. That is completely unacceptable.

It was hard to miss. [lacrosse] was in first quarter. Break his arm was on a clear. He totally lost it in the third quarter. That is when he yelled that the players sucked and they would never make it at the next level.

The Ninety O MD coach should team up and coach with JA from the Wolfpack....would be the dynamic duo, though none of them should be coaching youth sports. absolutely both terrible with younger kids! way to Ninety One!

Sure the big FO middie won every FO, but so did the smaller FO middie. He was on fire. And there was this speedy attackman that ran circles around everyone and scored with ease. Full team effort. It was never close. Madlax could have easily won by double digits.

That was an amazing mix - nightmare Team 91 MD owner and the nightmare Madlax owner coaching those two teams. Both are world class jerks.

I hope the officials gave an unsportsmanlike conduct on the coaches. That is ridiculous.

Nah, Madlax lost composure and got two conduct penalties and 9d1 scored easily. It was 3 point game with 2 or so minutes to play. Nobody let off the gas, give me a break.

This would only seem unreal to someone who's been living under a rock. Everyone in youth lacrosse knows this is just more of the same.

9-4 at half; 11-5 at the end of 3; give me a break

13-9 was the final. No blowout.

13-9 is not a blowout and the 15 year old middie was playing right to the final whistle. No foot off the gas in this one.

13-8, with less than 20 sec remaining in game. Botched call on FO gave 9d1 face break goal to bring it to 13-9 for final. At this point madlax had reserves in the game...no offense to those kids. Poster is correct, Madlax did have two penalties putting them 2 men down...so 9d1 should score easily, right?? Both teams had some really good players and played hard. Coaches were intense, but par for the course. IMO, 9d1 parent should not have been tossed from game...ref was way too sensitive. Curious to see how remainder of season plays out. Could see these two teams facing each other again in playoffs.

The refs did a good job of keeping it from being a true blow out. Madlax scored at will. 2 goals in first minute. T0 had to get its goals off some questionable hold and interference penalties (the refs had to work hard to call something) and garbage goals in the fourth quarter against Madlax's subs. But if it makes the T0 daddies feel better, it was really close until the end.

It was 13-9 at the actual end of the game, and the 15 year old middie played until the final whistle. He's the reason the others get their looks. He draws, or runs over three and then dumps down.

9d1 had 3 or 4 kids just as big as Madlax's "15 year old" middie. Maybe he looks so much bigger because he's surrounded by so many "[lacrosse]" teammates?

I love when the story is all on team 91 and the way they behaved at a game. Madlax won the game and there is always the one guy who wants to bash the Madlax owner/program. Video's of many games of youth lacrosse on internet. Crabs, FCA, Koopers, etc all have complete games of younger teams on internet. If this guy is doing this kind of verbal abuse it needs to be out there. If not people are full of it.

If you are scared to post video of your kids playing lacrosse on the internet you need to move to the mountains and build a bunker. The new world is not that scary. And the crazy people you are so worried about can not track your kids down they have helmets on. So if there is a video of a coach acting like a fool then it should and needs to be posted. If it is as bad as people are saying this needs to be out on the web for the public good.

Read the first-hand accounts of the game, they are absolutely spot on. There is a tape, 9d1 records all their games but I doubt they'll post it. I was at the game, we played earlier and showed up to see these two good teams play, but it was shameful to watch and I feel bad for the players who had to endure the coaching from both teams. Both coaches were unprofessional, and the refs let them get out of hand. This has been a pattern for both coaches in league and tournament play. The fogo for Madlax is a clearly older than 10 or 11 and should be playing in the correct division, he's a good player, can't take that away from him but he's a man playing among boys. MM and 9d1 should be ashamed of how he conducts himself on the field and instructing his LSM and other middies to "break the fogo's arm" is downright scary. And yes you could hear his insults and direction to his players in the stands. I hope that someone shows the HoCo league a tape of the game and Derrick takes the appropriate measure to ensure this doesn't happen again for the safety of other teams they pay this season.

You guys are funny. If there's no film posted, it must not have happened. You have obviously never had a son play either for or against MM to honestly not believe that he said these things. This is more the rule than the exception with him. He has told his kids to hurt opposing players many times within earshot of the other team. Whether or not the officials hear him I don't know, but if someone honestly has it on tape, it should be sent to the HOCO administrators. I don't see a need to necessarily put him on blast on youtube, but certain people need to see it so that proper actions can be taken.

Every youth sport is done by AGE...BIRTHDAYS...but not lacrosse. As a coach and father its criminal that we do not enforce age based teams. Too many parents are chasing D1 dreams. Its about the kids and wait for it...its about having fun for the KIDS!!!! Just shut up because you have no perspective. Until very recently, lacrosse USED to be age based. It changed to grade based a couple years ago and that is where things are. There are many arguments against it, but if you don't like it, find a club that only plays in age based events.

His age is absolutely relevant. The grade based methodology is the crux of the issue. Double holdbacks, a pre-firster with a late birthday then held back again in elementary school at this age (ahem Madlax fogo) creates a situation where a child who should be playing at the 7th-grade level is running over 5th graders. Not saying that MadLax is the only offender out there, but it creates a completely unfair and unsafe situation for the other teams that adhere to the spirit of the rule. While US Lacrosse has set forth rules for age-based competition, clubs and tournaments openly disregard these rules and the lacrosse currently has no governing body that can actually force the broader lacrosse community to abide by these common sense rules.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The Madlax kid has not been held back - he is just very big for his age. Madlax has a ton of holdbacks (more than any club, I think), but this kids isn't one of them.

The interesting thing is the Madlax owner is coaching his own sons on this team (which is another issue). Will be interesting to see how much preferential treatment he gives them as they get older.

back in the glory days we had u15 u13 u11 u9 with both A and b divisions. If you had mix of kids you played b. but there weren't a ton of kids playing. Today you can have u13 u12 u11 u10 teams etc...So STOP THE MADNESS, stop cheating,lacrosse should go to birthdays LIKE EVERY YOUTH SPORT IN AMERICA...

Feel free to read about them on the U12 page of their 2017 US Lacrosse rules handbook, but as the posted above mentioned, they are incapable of being enforced. I have one in high school and he had kids in his Sophmore class that should be seniors. Congratulations on have a 20-year-old HS graduate chasing daddy's dream of playing in college. Youth lacrosse is about getting better, great coaching on fundamentals, and having fun. To get better, you need to play the best competition possible, so the more great hold backs the better. To get great coaching, you need to be selective and thoughtful in your team search and selection. To have fun, you need to love the game, and realize being the best player on your team or league is not going to make you better as a youth player or beyond. If you spend more than zero minutes out of your life worrying about the age of the player next to you, you probably won't have fun, and you won't get better. If you want to play beyond youth, beyond HS - ignore the whiny parents, embrace the holdbacks, and go play ball.

I seriously doubt you have ever read the US Lacrosse rule book. If you had, you would know that US Lacrosse mandates age based play FOR THEIR EVENTS. Every league or tournament is allowed to use whatever age or grade based divisions they want. If it up to the club and you the consumer whether or not you want to play in those events.

Guys/Ladies, this is absurd. Everyone should reserve comments about others unless they have facts...doesn't matter which team your kid plays for. Bashing a coach is one thing, although we should still reserve comment until we have facts. However, bashing a kid (or a kids parents) because we THINK the child is a certain age is irresponsible. I know the child in question for Madlax. He is 11 years old; that is a fact, not my opinion. Yes, he is tall for his age and extremely athletic. However, anyone present at the game last weekend knows that the other team also had 2 defensive kids equally as tall. No one is questioning their age. I believe this kid's age is called into question is because he plays middie; if he played defense he probably would not be scrutinized as much. Most middies are not that tall. Therefore you often see him matched up against kids who are shorter than him which makes him stand out even more. I have a child who plays AAU basketball. I can assure you that if you attend their games you will see a lot of 11 year olds as tall, if not taller, than this kid. Let's be honest, most kids that tall and that athletic aren't playing lacrosse; they're in a gym somewhere. I know there are some reading this who still want to believe this kid is 13 years old. For those I would ask you to find the kids parents the next time your son's team plays Madlax. His parents are at every game and are very nice folks. Then you can get an answer from a reliable source and hopefully stop bashing a kid, his parents, or the program he plays for.

Strange how USL has zero events in MD and NY even though their headquarters is in MD. Why not hold events in the two states where the sport is most popular?

Because their recommended rules are not most popular there. Beware of a sports advocacy organization that builds a 50 million dollar stadium/office/museum complex in the most expensive area of the County, when there are about 10 world class college facilities within ten square miles.

Nobody should be bashing Madlax because they have a huge kid. They are bashing Madlax because they are the #1 club for holdbacks and because their owner is an absolute nightmare who threatens his own clients. People eventually get tired of him which is why their top kids leave when they hit HS.

I agree. I'm not going to defend Madlax, or any club for that matter. I understand the Madlax coach has a reputation and a lot of people bring up the Email fiasco as an example. I would argue that a lot, not all, but a lot of clubs and their coaches have a checkered past and much of it happens in private where not many can see. It's an unfortunate reality of youth sports and not limited to lax. However there are a lot of posters commenting on the Madlax middie and suggesting that he's hurting the spirit of competition by playing down. These posters do not know what they are talking about because the kid is legitimately 11. When people suggest otherwise it's just comes off as being a sore loser. 9d1 and Madlax both have strong 2024 teams. Someone's going to win, someone's going to lose. Just chalk it up as a good battle and look forward to the rematch; no need to call a kids age into question or start bashing clubs/coaches. Anyone reading these posts would guess it's a bunch of kids on here, not adults.

You probably mean well, but you are enabling his terrible behavior by supporting him financially and by making these kind of statements. There are equal or better options than Madlax if you want great instruction, teammates and competition for you son. But even if Madlax was the only game in town, think about what you are telling your kid by having him play for that guy. You're saying that it's ok to play for him because the owner didn't threaten your son, only somebody else's son.

Using the "everyone else does it" rationale is sad. Think about all those gymnasts who have abused by coaches. Would it be right to tell your kid to continue to train under a suspected pedophile because a) it's a good club and b) other coaches are suspected of doing the same thing?

This story should not be about the players age. This story should continue to be about a grown man bullying kids and telling players to break a kids arm. Ridiculous. I hope the HOCO deals with the situation - it is not the first time this has happened and it won't be the last. I hope some real punishments are doled out and it wakes this jerk up. I don't see how my comment can be interpreted as though I am enabling anyone. Only point I am trying to make is that before anyone begins to talk down on a player or his family because they think the kid is too old, they should first get confirmation on the child's age...not assume he is playing down simply because he is a big kid. The second point I was trying to make is that there are a lot of good programs, with mostly good coaches, who may behave at their worst at times. I am not suggesting that it is okay; simply stating that it probably happens a lot more than we may know about within other programs besides Madlax and 9d1. As far as Madlax goes, they have provided great instruction to my child, my son enjoys his teammates and they all seem to come from good families as far as I can tell, and he has experienced good competition since joining. I did not hear his coach threaten anyone last week; from reading the posts it sounds like that was the other coach (MM). With all that being said, my only loyalty is to God and my family. If I felt as though my son was in an abusive environment or was being mistreated by anyone in the program we would not be a part of the program, because as you accurately pointed out, there are many other options. However, if everyone's skeletons were out of the closet then those options may not be as plenty as you and I think...

Any parent who heard these comments directly should report this to the HOCO league in writing and demand something be done. I cannot imagine allowing my child to play for him be because all know that this is not a rare occurance. This needs to be handled by the HOCO league, and if it isn't we know that they have absolutely zero control of the League and we should all be very concerned for the safety of our kids. I think the person was saying that by supporting Madlax, you are enabling the owner's bad behavior. It is a fact that the email was not an isolated incident - he has threatened and treated many of his families like crap. But even if it was a one time thing, you are impliciting saying it's ok as long as it's not your son. By having your son play for him and give him your money, you are giving your stamp of approval. If that's ok with your conscience, then fine.

I really hope you are not a 91 parent. The lacrosse community is keenly aware of MM's treatment of his players and opposition. Anyone putting money in his pocket is enabling his behavior.

Also, in the time he has been a member of Madlax I have not "personally" witnessed anything abusive from any of the coaches towards any kids. I'm not saying it's never happened, just not with my son, any of his teammates (that I am aware of) and not towards any opposing players (that I am aware of) in my presence. And it sounds like, from reading these posts, that a lot of other parents have had unpleasant experiences with other clubs. However, if we were to switch clubs, which one do you recommend?

For those that are asking for people to reach out to HoCo directly to report this behavior about the 2024 9d1 coach MM, it's been done - both this year and many times last year with video - several times. Several club directors and other coaches have reached out directly to Derrick about his behavior; not only from the MadLax game but from last year as well. Nothing has been done, he remains on the sidelines. Because he runs the MD 9d1 program he seemingly gets a pass. He's a disgrace.

I am all for hard nose coaching and barking out directions to players. But you can call me a snowflake if you like but some words and saying should be outlawed on a youth playing field. Every league should have at least a 3 strike rule with all coaches. I am all for my son getting yelled at for being out of position or for being lazy on D. But if you tell him to hurt another player or call him a none lacrosse based "bad word" I will be talking to you and I will be using the words that should be band.

I will have to say that we were at a game to watch a friends team and the coach from the 91 team was over the top. I am all for getting on your kids for not performing at their best but to have personal things said to them is no acceptable. Then on top of that when his team was losing he was standing on the side line pouting. Not a great example from a great lacrosse player.

Madlax 2024 parents are total scumbags just like their owner. Unbelievable they are allowed to play with that kid who is almost 14. They will get what's coming to them.

At every age group, there are big kids who make you scratch your head, but most people manage to get through those games without causing an internet stir.

I have seen the big middie play. He is big. He is good. He does not play dirty. Would he benefit from playing on a 2023 team regardless of his age? Probably. But the point remains, a youth lacrosse coach was instructing his players to break a kids arm because they were losing a game. A coach was calling KIDS midgets on the opposing team. I can't imagine what he was saying to his own players on the sidelines. I can assure you, if MM had this kid on his team he'd be in hog heaven. That's how the narcissist rolls. Winning is all that matters to him...even against 5th graders. Pathetic.

It is sad that whenever Madlax wins someone has to attack their FO middie. Whoever does is a sore loser or misinformed. The kid is 11 and doesn't turn 12 any time soon. I know his exact birth date but out of respect to the kid and his family I am not going to re-post it here. The kid has an older brother that is 13 and plays on 2022. So obviously the 2024 kid is not 14. Also the kid plays 5th grade AAU (which has strict age limits). I know people are shocked to learn how young he is. I get it that teams are getting sick of Madlax sweeping the Spring league and winning the championship every year. But give the kid and his teammates some credit. They are an incredible bunch of athletes and one of the best, if not the best 2024 team in the country.

We have played them and he is the whole team and they are not even in the top 3 in the country for 2024

Madlax swept the HoCo league and won the championship last year against Bethesda, Hawks, and Team MD. If you check the HoCo website, Madlax has already beaten Bethesda and Team MD this year. Madlax has beaten Legacy like 5 straight. Legacy has never beaten them. And Madlax beat Wolfpack in Maryland last Spring. I know Wolfpack beat Madlax a couple of weeks later in NY, but Madlax was missing a lot of key players over the summer. I think it would be very difficult for Wolfpack to beat their full squad.

If the refs did not take action against the coach, then the dialogue is clearly inflated and next it will be that the coach actually tackled the player himself and "we" all saw it. I've seen the tape (it's not mine so I'm not in a position to share), but at the 28 minute mark on a Madlax defensive clear in front of the 91 bench, you can clearly hear a coach say, "break his arm" two times. Then at the 36 minute mark, as Madlax's FO middle enters the game, you can clearly hear a 91 coach say, "oh, well here comes the 9th grader again."

I agree with everything except that the dialogue is clearly inflated. I saw him meltdown at summer exposure last year in the 2022 division and know that there were several teams last year that complained about this same type of behavior. I hope you are right that he is under increased scrutiny.

I'm not going to go as far as to say Madlax is the outright, hands down top 2024 team; however they are very good and arguably one of the top 3 2024 teams. They also have a lot more weapons than the middie you speak of. They have an outstanding attackman, who may in fact be the best player on that team. They have a couple other middies who are extremely athletic and put up points. They have two poles who are amazing. A very well rounded team, lead by a physically imposing middie, who is 11--not 14. I would say its a 3-way battle between them, WP, and Legacy.

On the restart, Madlax long pole is running clear directly in front of Team 9d1 bench. You can hear the coach wearing the red shirt (Mark Millon) yell to a kid directly in front of him wearing MM's old jersey number (high single digit) "break his arm" two times as the kid swings to hit the Madlax player.

Completely agree that teams will look much different years from now, but I don't think that was the poster's argument. Right now, based on the 2024 teams that are out there, there's no way that anyone can say that the Madlax team isn't one of the 3 best in the country. I think that the top 8 list above is pretty accurate. Madlax has beaten everybody on that list more than once....not sure that any of the others can say the same. If you're aware of some other teams that aren't on the list, please let us know. I'm pretty sure Madlax would be interested in a game.

I feel sorry for his kid (or anyone else that has to play for him). 1:10 left in the game. You can hear him yell at his kid: "what the f-ck is that." This guy is definitely not going to win any parenting awards.

I can cleanly hear MM say the snide remark about the 9th grader. I can also hear the remark about Break his arm..but it is hard to tell who it is. Sounds like two coaches from Nineone are talking about doubling ball and breaking his arm.

If a Government run league takes no action , someone should be calling the head of Howard County Recreation Department or even their boss. College coaches have loss their jobs for less.

What HoCo should put a stop to is madlax' constant attack of a coach to take the focus off of their Director/coach. There were referees there who did not remove the coach yet removed a parent. Anybody that was at the game couldn't miss it. The guy is a lunatic. Called a kid a [lacrosse], instructed his players to hurt the other team, and was directly addressing and taunting kids as they returned to their bench. And to make things worse the video picks up the Team 91 parents acknowledging and repeating back what "Mark said." He is seriously putting 11 year old kids at risk and somebody needs to stop this now.

Sad part is, even with this video of his behavior you will still have folks claim that "its not him", "someone edited the video", "that's a parent's voice", etc. Its discouraging to see this type of behavior from a coach, but even more disappointing to see that adults can look at this and discount it as video editing. Take it for what it is. This is just a continuation of the Maddox/millen saga started last year. Those tapes really do not prove anything to an objective party for all the reasons you state. If you have real substantive proof, most would be happy to believe you and support your cause but these tapes and hearsay just are not it.

I agree with what you said, with the exception of condoning the directive to break another kids arm. While I've never coached lacrosse, I have coached youth football. Unfortunately we (coaches) can get out of control at times and say things that we don't literally mean. We tell kids to "knock the crap out of the other kids", but we don't actually mean that we want the opposing kid to have a bowel movement on the field. It's a figure of speech. Nonetheless, it doesn't make it right and adults have to be more careful about their word choice around kids. I don't personally know MM- my child does not play with 91- but I am willing to consider that he, or whoever was speaking, did not actually desire for the opposing player to suffer a broken arm. I think he was probably just trying to get his players to aggressively defend the other player. Either way, doesn't make it right. Can we just agree that the word choice was not appropriate, but not in malice, and hope that it doesn't happen again? No need to argue the legitimacy of the video or who said what.

I saw the game. I was there for a Next Level game following this one. There was a big difference between CM and MM. CM was passionately coaching his own team. At no time, did I hear him yell anything derrogatory at any of the kids. MM was yelling disgusting things at both his own team and the other team. I don't know about you, but I don't want some grown man insulting my kid or telling his own kid to break my kid's arm.

I can agree with this post. And that is the big thing about CM he yells at his players but does not and I have never heard him call them names or insults. His brashness is brash and to the point very clearly but he should not be thrown in with MM and his insults and calls for injury's.

I was there. I am a Next Level parent. My kid was warming up on the field next door. Don't have any connection to either team. Madlax was beating Team 91 by like 6 goals and the Team 91 coach was yelling insults right and left. I clearly heard him yell break his arm. It was hard to miss. The refs stopped calling fouls on Team 91 and let the Team 91 players swing away. Repeated blows to the head that went uncalled. There was a conduct call against Millon that for some reason the refs retracted, and then they gave the ball back to Team 91. I didn't think CM did anything bad. There were a couple of times he thought there should have been a foul (and he was right). In fact, it looked to me like all he was doing was protecting his players.

i agree w/ another poster that "break his arm, break his arm..." should not be treated too literally and a call for deportation. Coaches teach kids all the time in practice to work the hands/arms/body of players all the time, and use all sorts of phrases/words to communicate that so the kids relate. Would a better choice of words been "hit his gloves, armpads, etc."? Sure....but, that would be even more weird in the context of contact sport coaching. Not making an excuse for him, but...

Anyone have anything constructive to say about this talented age group?!? Seems to me this is an incredibly talented group (I have kids in other groups as well, so think that in perspective). Not many teams are playing in the AA division (usual suspects), but a TON in the A division as well. This is going to be a great group of boys to watch in the coming years as they matriculate....

P.S. Not a parent of 91 or ML, just an observer and fan of my kids and the sport. Would love to see some fun and interesting things to discuss on this board.

I don't see anything in the video that would garner a penalty from the refs. "Break his arms" is a phrase that coaches have used forever.....plus its definitely not MM yelling it.

If this were the first incident with the guy, I think people might give him the benefit of the doubt. Many have seen the same behavior at the 2022s.

1. Saying "break his arm" is unacceptable at any level. Ask a lacrosse official and he will tell you the same thing.

Okay, all you Team 9d1 parents that are getting up in "arms" (pun intended). If you haven't figured it out yet, all these posts are not coming from Madlax parents or anyone within the club. Other teams (probably in the Baltimore area) are running with this, and posing as Madlax parents. It would be a classy move, however, if the Team 9d1 MD organization would just come out and say it was poor behavior and it won't happen again. Everyone makes mistakes, and hopefully we learn from them.

The person who wrote this last post is NOT a Madlax parent. We don't go around saying we are the best club out there because we don't believe we are the best club out there. Every club has its + and -. Madlax is no different. Our 2024 is a very good, complete team; some of our other teams are not as strong. That's the case with most clubs. However, the 2024 parents are not ones to go on a blog site and brag about their club. Undoubtedly this is another club parent trying to create animosity towards Madlax, its players, and families.

I have been around lacrosse for 20 years ..many years in youth and now still in youth along with HS.
For a coach to say to anyone and especially youth " break his arms" is totally irresponsible along with frankly someone being a complete jerk. This isnt some common term used in lacrosse. I havent even heard it used as such? And to belittle a 5th grader ..does anyone even need to say anything about this besides it being completely wrong?

Their is a certain responsibility to coaching youth sports. Having a pattern of this behavior is not a good thing. The league should be proactive and give him a few games off.

24 on Madlax is 11 years old. But at this point does it really matter? No one is going to believe the truth anyways. As long as he continues to play well everyone is going to say he is much older than all other 5th graders. As a Madlax parent, no excuses here. Great win by Hawks. Skilled, well coached team. Attack, especially the leftie that had the game winner, delivered. But the Hawk's defense should really get the credit. They were outstanding. Great slides and help defense. It was a competitive, clean game, and I hope that the Madlax kids get a chance to play the Hawks again. If nothing else, maybe they will practice a little harder this week. Just hope that all the parents on this board will be more supportive of all the HoCo league kids going forward. There is no reason that anyone should be attacking any of the kids.

Son played after HoCo - RR, so I watched the end of the game. RR was getting a beat down by HoCo. RR coach was dropping f-bombs and threw lax stick at bench. How parents can let their kids play for these clowns is beyond me. Worst is the assistants who just stand there and are afraid to say anything. Find a good coach, it's not about the club.

Was anyone at the Team 91/ Wolfpack 2024 game on Saturday at St. Paul. I was walking up to the field when I saw the official throw out parent from the Wolfpack sidelines and then promptly end the came as the parent yelled vulgarities to the official. Pretty sure Team 91 was taking it to Wolfpack at the time.

The league or lacrosse programs really needs to monitor parent behavior and in instances like this one ban the parent from all future games. Again I do not know all the details but regardless nothing should illicit that type of response from a PARENT of all things!!

You do realize all the top teams fly in kids from Georgia, Florida and Texas to name a few. Crabs, Looneys and FCA have been doing it for years and now it sounds like 91 does it too. You will not change it and anyone who is not a fan should look for a middle of the pack team for their child. . Many of those are less likely to have holdbacks, out of state kids etc. . If you are going to stay with the sport, you are going to have your eyes opened to a whole lot more as you move forward.

Without the Texas kids, Team 91 is a middle of the pack team. With them, they are slightly above average.

Take this to a different age forum page, the 2024 Team 91 MD doesn't have any kids from TX. In fact they have 4th graders getting it done.

No matter how you slice it, getting ejected at halftime while speaking to the refs is something special. The HOCO Bylaws state the following. Be interesting to see if MM is on the sideline for the first playoff game. Also, it says at least. If HOCO has any power they will sit him for the rest of this season from both his 2024 and 2022 teams for repeated violations.

"Any player, coach, spectator, administrator who is ejected from a game by an official shall be suspended from any participation for at least 1 game (not including the game from which he/she was ejected). The ejection will be reported to the League Rules Committee for review. "

No matter how much you get yourself worked up and think you are going to change things, the reality is that MM will remain in the lacrosse world for years to come. He is a fixture - not like those of us just passing through with our kids. HOCO will not allow him on the sideline for the first game as per their rules but that will not do anything but affect the kids on his team.

I hope the Hawks coaches call him on this, he shouldn't be on the sideline for the Sunday games according to the HoCo rules.

The Hawks parents were awful this weekend. Some of the worst that I have seen all season.

News flash parents are awful all over the country at all kid sporting events every day. To attach any of this behavior to a club or team is just over the top silly. All of these issue should be dealt with in a one on one calling out of the misbehaving parent during the game. Lacrosse needs a field Marshall that is unbiased to police all games. This is done at youth football games and works well. When you try to bash a club over the parents behavior during the game makes most think you where acting a fool on your side line as well.

Let me let you 2024 parents in on a little secret The Madlax owner has 1 or 2 sons on this team. They are both very good players and should be playing at this level. But if you have a 2024 son you should try to make this team. You will be assured that this team and group of kids will be given every chance to be seen and will always have the best of the best. I would not be scared of Daddy ball from the Madlax owner he is very hard on his sons and does not let them get away with murder like some other daddy coaches out there. I am a Madlax parent not 2024 but if you do not at least try out for this team you are doing it wrong.

So true. People ask me all the time: is it tough having the owner coach your son's 2024 team? No. It is the other way around. You want him coaching your kid. Yes, he is intense; yes, his voice really carries; and yes, nobody is perfect. But you can't get a coach that cares more about a team than he cares about this one. If you have a 2024 son that is looking for a new team, you should definitely consider this one.

Let me let you in on a little secret. Madlax owner does play Daddy Ball. I have directly heard from four different parents that his boys have been outplayed by other kids on the team, yet they still start and get bulk of PT. A year or two ago they were deserving of their spots, however other kids have outpaced them and parents and players are taking notice. We've played them 3 times this season so I've seen them both first hand. I'm not saying they are bad. The lefty attack is pretty good. He makes the wide open goal, but is small and I haven't seen him create his own shot. The middie is just there...non-factor. But he starts ahead of other kids who are more talented. Those boys will be wearing another jersey soon. And let me let you in on one more little secret....two of their best players are leaving after this summer....STAY TUNED.

Um, several kids have left the Madlax 2020 team including a couple more unnannouced. My son is graduating college next year, but I've seen this pattern. People used to go to madlax because it was the only game in town. Some pick it because of they have the most youth teams and stick with it. But most of the good players leaves once they are freshmen or sophomores. Either they get tired of paying so much for the same thing or they get tired of his BS and realize they can play on teams that are better.

For a 2024 elite player that lives in the DMV area, Madlax *is* the best option in town. When you play Madlax, you get to go to tournaments like the elite 8 and play the best teams from LI and Philly, and win the Spring league three years in a row. You may not know this, but it is an incredible, supportive group of families that love spending time together, and the team continues to get better. Bethesda is a very good team, but they have lost a step at the 2024 level. That is why Madlax swept them 3-0 this year. Next Level is a solid single A team. But when Madlax plays Next Level, they don't even play their starters most of the game, and they still run away. It is no match. I don't think there is a 3D or VLC team at this level anymore. Those programs are imploding. And there certainly is no BW. Didn't that guy get convicted for child abuse? I know you are a Madlax hater and nothing I say is going to change that. Go ahead and reply: "google ungrateful quitter." We've all heard it a million times. You should really try to find something that has happened in the last 4 years.

It must suck to loose to kids from DC/VA. You Marylanders don't own LAX anymore. MadLax 2024 is a great team. And, just so you know, the boys are really good kids and don't deserve to be badgered by disgruntled parents who can't accept that their boys loose. They work as hard as any other team out there and deserve their wins. And, the big kid (yes he is a kid still) is no bigger than the biggest kids on all the other teams they play. He's just awesome and a great kid. So watch the games and stop letting your frustrations with your own life come out in your sideline behavior.

Yep. I've watched my son play the Hawks for years. I vividly remember watching him lose a game to the Hawks. All the Maryland parents were very kind that day and wished us better luck next time. I remember thinking to myself that these are good people that love the game. But then Madlax started winning, and so did the Hawks parents. The Hawks dad that kept yelling the 11 year old comments during the championship game should have been ejected. And the Hawks program should say something to him. It is unacceptable behavior. Believe it or not, the FO middie is 11 too. If he went to the same school or played for the same team as your son, they would probably be good friends. He is a really sweet and outstanding kid. Probably the most unselfish kid on the field, and he plays clean. As much as he gets singled out, he rarely gets flagged. There is not a 2024 team in the country that wouldn't be thrilled to have him.

Thanks for the congrats even if it wasn't sincere. I don't know how you can say that Madlax is struggling at the youth level though. More fake news. Other than the 2023 team (which has some serious talent), every capital team made the playoffs at the highest level. That is far from struggling. In fact, it is pretty darn good.

Madlax will always be a good or best option for a AA top level players in the DMV. Just like all these other teams if depends on where your son fits in or does not fit in for each of these top club teams. As for the person who said kids leave after Freshman or sophomore year that is because they got what they needed from Madlax. Like into a top Prep high school or on several D1 radars. I think with the new rule of Jr year sept 1st you will see kids playing full time Madlax a lot longer. Or any club team for that matter. This rule has already changed the wording of my older sons emails in his inbox. He got 15 prospect day invites last week alone. And they are calling it out. "due to the new rule this is the only time we can talk to and get to know you as a player in person." So you parents of young kids save up a extra $1000 per summer to pay for prospect days for all the schools your son might want to play at. Starting in 8th grade summer.
