The top tier of kids heard from coaches on Sept 1- the first day of open recruiting, and will be committing in the next few days/weeks, after they make their choices after having official visits, as many of these kids are getting multiple offers. They have already been scouted during the HS season, and at summer tournaments, showcases and prospect days.

For my older ones, it was a mix. My Daughter got offers from 2 schools she visited. They were both her top choices so she only visited those schools. She is also a great student My son was a little different. We visited 5 schools with him. Walked out with 2 offers. 2 of other 3 contacted him later with offers. 1 made no offer. He is not a great student. GRADES MATTER!!
