Well, Matt Hogan does run a large tourney business. Only non- Hogan tourneys they play are NLF and the Crabs Young Guns. All the Hawks teams play in Naptown National. A hogan tourney.

FYI nobody wants to play in 12 out of town tourneys and 20 play dates. How did express do vs 91 when they played after their superior bargain experience?

Where are they located. I never see them in quality tournaments.

Express and legacy are celebrating this big time. Big clubs losing to Moose is embarrassing. Too bad for them they were unable to add any of those talented players like S2S and venom did.

Moose dispersed due to logistics for some, playing time for others, return to age appropriate teams and because one size does not fit all. Add all that up and you get the outcome. Nothing but positive things to say about the director, coaches, experience, cost and what the kids got. Things change.

Agree other teams are lucky to get those kids

Rebels already have their fall schedule up.

Whoever posted about the Moose director and the program is just a negative angry person spewing detest. Said director is one of the most honest, positive, knowledgeable, passionate, generous people in this crazy lax world. And he was the reason some of the top talent eschewed the franchises and followed him. Things change, but he deserves nothing but respect.

I agree. I have never met anyone with as much love and enthusiasm both for the sport and the kids who play it. I’m really sorry to hear the team broke up.

I’m. not sure of the circumstances, but I have had kids that have played for Moose at other age levels and the only criticism I had was that the Harborfields tended to have a playtime advantage over other kids, regardless of talent or ability. Not sure if that was a factor here, but something the club may want to recognize and try to rectify moving forward.

Yes, this is an accurate statement. Favoritism ruined the team.

"ruined" ? Was it favoritism for better players? If so, that is travel lacrosse.

91 has the same favoritism for Massapequa kids. Unfortunately it happens everywhere

Playing the best players isn’t favoritism, and that’s certainly expected in travel lacrosse. The problem comes when less talented players are favored because of relationships with coaches. It happens on all teams and it’s normal to a certain extent for coaches to have players they favor.

There has been a pattern at Moose on several grade levels of favoring Harborfields kids at the expense of kids from other towns. The coaches may not even recognize it. I’m hoping they take it as constructive criticism and work to ensure it doesn’t happen on their remaining teams. I really like this club and want to see them continue.

So if you compare the comments about moose from a year ago, which said "it's so wonderful, a grass roots team, kids love each other, building something, great kids great parents, bla bla" to these comments...you can see that all clubs basically have the same problems. Was a short honeymoon.

The Moose 2026 team did NOT fold. In fact, they will be a solid team to watch this upcoming year. The 2028 team was a close knit group that played competitive games and was good competition for the other programs. Will see how the boys develop this upcoming year at their new clubs. Every club has pros and cons. Make sure your kid is having fun!

There's too many teams out there for club owners to not pay attention to their kids and their product. That's why kids move.

The only Moose team that folded was '28. Parents all seemingly got along. Kids all seemingly got along. There were plenty of practices, indoor and out, scrimmages, games, leagues and tournaments and head coach was ever present. travel distance for four kids was a headache, lack of playing time for a few and too great a disparity in skill between top and bottom of the roster, not to mention too many kids from one town conspired for the team to disperse. No daggers to throw. It just is what it is.

Where did all the top kids go?

Did no kids come to tryouts? Seems kind of petty… few kids leave so you shut down the team? I’d be real happy if I was one of the parents in it for the long run.

MidAtlanric forum suggesting northern teams such as Venom or 2way go down and play FCA, Hawks, Madlax this fall. Sounds like what a lot of the older teams do. I think it’s a great idea

No 27’s have ever played with the 2028’s. The same rebels parents trying to stir the pot. The 2027 team played at the same time as the 2028 team. Just a parent upset that their team didn’t fare as well in the tournament so they make things up...

Agree w this. There are several kids that play up (“which is prob their real age anyhow”), but play at both years - so it looks suspect.

I know for a fact that 91 venom brings a 2028 that plays on 2027 team for some tournaments. I guess to them winning is more important than ethics.

Best Moose player went to S2S and will be playing up on 27. 3 csh kids and 2 huntington kids went to Venom.

My son went to the "tryout" for GSB club that's forming, maybe 20 kids showed up, some decent players out there. Hope they can put a team together, my son really liked the coaches, bunch of young guys. What's your guys thoughts on start ups like this?

A few of my friends went and all their kids loved the tryout and the coaches, from what they were saying was that if most of the kids sign up they should be a decent team, not competing with the top teams, but certainly a good foundation to start building off of. Connor will definitely draw people in with his name, and it sounds like he’s found a good group of coaches

Id love to see them recruit some some solid Bs who are down to put in the work. They're not going to draw any top players or bench riding As but building a team with consistent high B skill set top to bottom lets them play everyone and make practices more efficient. I think this team is great opportunity for a kid who really loves the game and is confident enough to not worry that they're not wearing a big name helmet.

I think these teams always start out great. Coaches are super into it and price is usually great compared to other clubs. Unfortunately what happens is that the kids get older and get better they start looking for some “name brands”. As a result these teams eventually fall apart. If you like the coaches and club then go for it.

Express North Black out of CT/NY is a team to watch this year. Beat LI Express, Legacy, Sweetlax 2x, And FCA md this summer. Lost to 91 venom 7-4 and Madlax 6-3 at NLF. Up 3-2 on Madlax in the second half.

a deal was made between ML and the massapequa venom coaches. venom had to take both boys as a package deal. very shaddy stuff going on.

Original poster is clueless and clearly also a donk and angry at life. Venom recognized the talent and wanted them on their team because they will make Venom better and help them win. THAT is Venom's primary goal. Nothing shady. Venom recognized them as strong players and good kids and family years ago!

why not just replace the kids that were leaving via the summer tryouts? I bet Kevin Durant had a hand in these kids going to Venom.

Moose was put in a tough spot cause S2S wanted there 4 port kids cause the varsity coach coaches the krackens. So once they left the coach of Moose was not sure what was going to happen to the team. So some of the top players tried out for other clubs. And 3 of the top players made venom. Moose could not recover from losing 7 of there top players to maintain as one of the top teams in the 28’s. There was no back door deal for his kids to go to Venom. The team was falling apart and everyone was looking to go somewhere else. His 2 kids are good enough to play for venom so they took them, who wouldn’t . But to call this shady is ridiculous. It’s people who have no clue what’s going on who hear one thing and assume. The coach from Moose is one of the best guys you will ever meet. He truly cares for ALL the boys well being. Plus why would he want his team to fold that he puts all his heart into. Say what you want cause I know you all will but the Coach from Moose is one of the best coaches on the island!

I’m kind of new to travel. The us club rankings it seems as far as LI teams 91 and express are consistently in the top 50 and high up for many age groups. Besides the legacy taz team what makes legacy considered an elite program? I don’t see many of their teams ranked in top 50.

With the exception of taz all their other teams are a step below 91, Express and Igloo. Some of their teams are really far below those three. Not a bad program. But I definitely would not call it elite. It also seems like they give you a lot less tournaments than other programs

I am an outsider but agree that ML had a great coach who seemed like a nice person who cared for the kids. Very disappointed to see their club end this way. Makes me dislike team 19 even more. Rooting for Express, S2S, legacy, igloo and turtles to upset them!

Moose Club did not end. One team dispersed. 91 across all age group is like they yankees and most root against them for that reason, and for the general swagger they exude (both kids and vicariously living parents).

The thing that matters is getting recruited and making it to the next step. Legacy has a ton of d1 and other division commits and puts kids in the right showcases to show themselves.

The thing that matters is your kid enjoying the experience. He'll decide what he wants to be. All the top programs will help develop and market players. Some programs just have more talent than others because of their brand. There will be plenty of D1 studs who will stand out from mid tier club teams...

I'm a '28 91 parent. Act like you've been there. No need to be posting that and especially the "everyone else is chasing scraps" statement. Stuff like this is what gives the whole program a bad rep and stereotype.

Who cares anyone ?

If you look at these team’s rosters from 6th grade to where they ended up, you’ll see there’s a good chance your kid won’t be on that team when it counts. The scraps you refer to are the crumbs from your own organization- good luck getting on the field this year and in the future, when it matters. There’s a reason each team has so many Coaches, it’s to make sure their own kids stay relevant in such a cutthroat program. The Bandits might as well be a National team at this point. There are so many ex-Bandits and ex-Smash players out there, they should form their own club. Some are still on 91 B teams, replaced by out of state kids, but still paying the big bucks - the ultimate definition of ‘scraps’.

First off , if we are speaking about the program it’s self and not about teams individually, then 91 should not even be listed! Completely unorganized, last minute practice and tournament changes! Communication dose not exist with this organization. Have kids on all different teams playing on all different teams at all different tournaments. I can say that igloo is an elite organization communication is unbelievable tournaments and practices are listed way in advance (with very little changes) that’s an outstanding program of course on every organization not all teams are top teams!

91 has the name so they will keep getting top kids but there is room for other programs that are dedicated to get your kids competing with the top team and get them where they want to go

The MD 91 dads know that the 91 MD team is not even in the top 25 teams in Maryland let alone the country.

If your kid has it he has it. There are plenty of D1 and d2 recruits that come from teams on LI that are not in thr perennial top 3-4 teams always mentioned as well as club teams all over the country that people never talk about. Plus it is not like these kids are getting much for their commitment of their time to the school anyway.

For your enjoyment, here is the Bored Dad fall rankings preview. Ranking in parenthesis is the last ranking from the summer from me.

1. Annapolis Hawks (MD) (1). Put together the strongest season of any team last year. Outstanding offense and goalie. Solid in the midfield and defense. Word out of Annapolis is that they’ve added some key contributors this fall. Loss to Madlax at NLF is maybe a little concerning, but still not enough to knock them out of the top spot.

2. Madlax (VA) (2). Huge win to end the year at NLF. Very well coached and solid at all positions. Word out of McLean is that they retained all key players but didn’t add a lot this off-season so will be riding with basically the same group.

3. Team 91 (NY) (3). Very well coached and solid at all positions. Very physical. Word out of strong island is that they’ve upgraded talent significantly this offseason. They were maybe a little undersized relative to the top MD teams last year. (I can hear LI dads yelling holdbacks from here.). I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this team is at the top of the rankings at the end of year. (MD teams - we can’t let that happen.)

4. Next Level (MD) (4). Up and down team but no team except the those above them have shown they can win against very top competition. Had wins against Team 91 and Madlax but a bunch of surprising losses too. Very athletic in the midfield and physical. I would not be surprised if they ended the year top 3 or outside the top 10. Word from Bethesda is that they added a couple pieces, but mostly bring forward the same team.

5. 2way (CT) (5). Very solid results over the summer but didn’t play any of the top 4 teams or anyone from MD, so a little untested among the best teams. I don’t know anyone plugged into the CT lacrosse community so no idea about additions. Come to MD 2way, we want to see what you’ve got.

6. BBL (NJ) (6). Big and skilled. Struggled some against the very best teams, but clearly a top team. I’m not plugged into NJ either, but I’d expect talent in that part of the country to consolidate here.

7. FCA (MD) (9). I’m moving FCA up because I think the coaching change is going to make this a better team. Very skilled at attack. Good at FO and goalie. This is a team where the talent level seemed better than the results (outside wins against NL). Tournament schedule was a little weak last year.

8. Express North (NY) (8). Skilled team. Another team pretty solid across the board. Some uneven results, but a number of nice wins. Strong tournament schedule last year.

9. Legacy (NY) (7). Very uneven results but ended the year strong. Word from LI is they’ve added some nice pieces. Will they be able to retain their top players against the LI machines of 91 and Express long term? I doubt it, but I have them second on the Island for now. I think I had them slightly too high last year, so moved them down a little, but 7-9 all had pretty similar results last year so it could be any order.

10. Long Island Express (NY) (13). Moving them up based on word from LI that they’ve upgraded their roster. Had several strong athletes and good size when I saw them play. Very uneven in results, but I would expect Express and 91 to consolidate LI over time.

11. Freedom (PA) (10). They were an honorary HOCO team last summer with the amount they played HOCO teams. Really good FOGO and some good shooters. Well coached. I don’t know the Philly scene that well but would expect them to consolidate the Philly market as the other Philly teams are all at least a notch down.

12. 3D New England (NE) (12). The 3D teams don’t always have stable rosters. But this team played enough together that I’m including them. Seem to be the top dogs against NE competition. They were a little more uneven when they played NY and south teams.

13. Thunder (GA) (unranked). Their results were okay, but probably not good enough to be top 15. But anyone who watched the Atlanta based teams last year had to be impressed with some of the raw athletes they had. My guess is that Thunder consolidates talent and this ends up being a team no one wants to play. I expect we will see a California team and a Colorado team in the top 10 by the end of the year too.

14. MadDog West (unranked). Maybe more of a tournament team than a stable roster, but played enough together that I’ll include them. Big and strong athletes. Wouldn’t be surprised if they move way up.

15. Crabs (MD) (unranked). Have they improved enough to include them? Some Crabs dads think that is this case. We will see. Had some nice wins - mostly over True.

Watch list - Laxachusetts, 4 Leaf Army, True Annapolis, 3D Gulf Coast, 3D Dallas, Seattle Stars, Denver Elite, Alpha Elite Colorado, ADVNC. Who else?

National teams - Nationals, Mad Dog National, True National. yes these teams will probably be good. No I am not including national teams in these rankings unless they consistently play together.

Always a good read. I’d say both express may be slightly ahead of legacy. 3D New England probably not in top 15, they should be in with laxachusetts etc. A few of these teams square off in jersey in 2 weeks.

Rebels so 2018

Flip flop rush Rebels and surge and S2S and that looks like the beginning of fall. Most teams that are good will be a Columba’s dayl(legacy) Oct 16th blatant(Rebels) or Oct 30th tristar(express). These three are pretty fair scheduling. My lacrosse tournaments(91) on other hand really give home team easy schedules. Not sure why as they are always good.

Rebels team had one nice upset last season but took a step back post tryouts losing their goalie who was far and away the best player on their team keeping them in games...

Legacy is about to run the table at Atlantic Elite. 2028 Bracket looks competitive:

Where is this being played?

Kids come and go. Some switch teams over and over. Never the kids decision. No matter what parents say. Undoubtedly they live through kid. It’s very very sad. The kids that are pretty good and work really hard. With living in today’s world of getting everything given to them. Those kids become good and successful college players and adults. Some parents are in for huge shock when kids eventually go to college and play lacrosse. Try complaining to the coach when your son is not starting. College coaches do a lot of research on kids. If your that non stop complying parent, good luck. Enjoy this time as it flys by. Going fishing, have a great weekend and be blessed by every minute you spend with your kids.

Chaos in Smithtown. Sad but the 2028 Smithtown team has completely fallen apart. There are only 4 or maybe 5 kids left playing with the Smithtown Travel program, It is now confirmed that their goalie is done and another top player is playing for Mt. Sinai bc his club coach (Rebels)is also the town coach. Sad to see town team like this completely fall apart.

Smithtown is always a mess. The East West thing kills it and the power struggle and politics. "Smithtown" youth is always good because it is two pretty big high schools for one youth program then it splinters as they hit jr. high. Same with Hills...
Year in and year out almost every year. 2nd grade town tourney champs and in a few short years they become a bitter also rans.

There are a few town teams without lacrosse teams. Tough sport unless you love it not enough kids.

That’s funny b/c the best goalie at this age probably isn’t even playing goalie yet. These kids are 11 (some 12, since holdbacks do exist on LI) and the people claiming their kid is the best at anything at this age really need to take a long hard look in the mirror. Their kid is most likely a bench rider fill-in on a top team that carries way too many kids anyway. Check your roster numbers and make sure your video is ready for those precious 3 minutes your son gets on the field next summer.

Second year half that team went to the turtles. Turtles were not good at all and rebels were ok. Beat B teams and lower lever A’s. Nothing impressive other than the parents rhetoric. At every tourney, “ OMG this program is the best, the coaches are excellent, we are amazing” yada yada yada. Then come tryout season those same people. Including the very vocal and rebels cheerleader goalie mom jump ship. Now this year they’re limping into a lax season missing their best key players. All of the semi decent kids that would’ve played on the B team also jumped ship. So please, just be humble. Stop saying this nonsense and then maybe and hopefully the board will stop talking about your mediocre program.

The fees go up every year, meanwhile the quality of Officiating and Coaching have plummeted. The better teams prepare their players for the next level and some even have Varsity players helping out, which benefits everyone. Other programs have no contact with their Varsity staffs and are manned by Dads who never played whose only motivation is to make sure their superstar gets his PT.

Buyer beware - run fast and far from any 91 B team. They’ll promise you the world just to get your check, and everything will be all rosy through the fall and winter, but, you need to realize, you’ll aways be second fiddle in that organization: Venom is the priority. And those Venom parents will always look down on your team b/c, deep down, they know next year their kid will be the one cut for a holdback. Never any loyalty at 91.

you couldn't be more wrong about this team. i agree that there are some B teams that get no love but that usually happens when the coaches are not commited. the coaches and parents on this team are awesome. they coach these kids hard and are making them better. its not about the organization, every organization stinks, but its about the coaches. these guys are great. i agree, everyone who is on venom that doesn't play a lot will be on this team eventually. i'm really happy with the direction this team is heading.

From most estimates it appears that 7 of the top 8 Long Island teams and Primetime will be at Columbus Day, it should be a fun day of lacrosse to watch. I’m surprised to not see Igloo in the A bracket, I’m guessing they didn’t have a good recruiting year?

Legacy was dominant early on (2-4th grade lol) when all the WI kids played well together and some kids were just way bigger than most other kids in the age. They were mediocre last year and that seems to be this year’s theme song as well.

It seems the best players on teams not 91 or Express in 3rd-5th grade usually migrate to those clubs from 6th grade on. For no other reason than parents want their kids on the best teams.

You are correct. With the exception of Legacy Taz, legacy doesn’t have the track record that 91 and express have.
The reason, I believe, is the name of the club draws the top kids.
They see they can place these kids at good schools. Then the next tier player dreams of that situation so they want to be near it. I’m sure some get lucky some don’t.
The only way that cycle stops is if another club has amazing players committed to stay with them all the way. And they can place them/ show them as well as 91 or express can.

Cause surge just added 5 players and there new helmets are not in yet. Surge does not bring venom players down to help like all the other clubs do! Seen it happen with 3 other teams last season.

I guess I imagined Venoms best defender running to the Surge game to help out last summer at Mitchell Field. All teams do it, just own it. Rebels also sends "AA" players to "A" tournament when they do not have a tournament on the same day.

Rebels played 2 way very close. They are not top team on island. Right now it’s Express legacy rush Rebels. 91 has to play first before included. No one else in to 5

I’m sorry Rebels parent, but overhyping your kids team is flopping. 91 is the top team in the northeast (or 3D NE), trying to put the Rebels above them is a joke. Rebels not the number 1 team (not even close). However, I saw them at Blatant. They are much better than their results from Islip. The team is huge.

Then listed the top teams, with Rebels being at the bottom. And stated that 91 has to prove themselves first. Most, if not all, agree they will prove themselves and be the top team.
The person never claimed they could beat the top teams.
The person never claimed they were the top team. Their results thus far confirm this.

So what’s confusing about the OP that brought about two responses? How is it that both of you misinterpreted a clearly written and easy to understand opinion? It’s bewildering.

I think white is used when they use players from all the teams, like during the fall when they don’t have full rosters and don’t want to be labeled as “black” or “yellow”

Fun weekend of lacrosse. It’s difficult to know how much weight to put on fall ball since most teams are missing kids. But given that several teams have altered their rosters since the summer I think they have some weight as data points with current players. If nothing else, they provide fodder for speculation. Here’s my revised Bored MD Dad Rankings. Parenthesis is the prior ranking.

1. Annapolis Hawks (1). Quality wins over 3D New England and Long Island Express this weekend. Loss to Freedom is a little surprising, but I don’t think quite enough to drop them. Still, Madlax is gaining here.

2. Madlax (2). Quality win over Next Level and took care of business again. Strong argument that they have the best resume since the start of the summer. I’m keeping Hawks ahead for now given the two HOCO wins since I think those games are the best tests we have. But I think the Madlax dads have a good argument for the top spot and those HOCO wins will get stale eventually.

3. 3D New England (5). Team of the fall so far. So many quality wins already. Really impressive results against the strongest competition anyone has faced in fall ball. Definitely among the very best.

4. Team 91 Venom (4). This is a very strong team with a strong chance to grab the top spot at year’s end. They haven’t been out yet this fall, so we are flying a little blind, but I expect they will climb the rankings once they get started.

5. BBL (6). Very impressive showing this weekend in Delaware going 5-1. They have proven that they can play with the top teams.

6. 2Way (4). Went undefeated this weekend in Long Island so feels a little unfair to drop them two spots, especially since they took 2 of 3 from 3D New England this summer and split with BBL. Too bad we didn’t get a 2way and 91 Venom matchup this weekend to give us a better sense of where to put 2way.

7. Express North (9). Idle this weekend but move up two spots because of inconsistency among the rest of the teams in this range. We will see if they can earn it.

8. Long Island Express (10). They had a nice string of victories over LI teams on Columbus Day, solidifying them as the second best team on Long Island. Also had a nice win over Freedom this weekend, but sustained some losses against strong competition.

9. Next Level (8). Loss against Madlax this weekend. Keeping them ahead of Freedom based on the head to head this summer with them taking 2 of 3.

10. Freedom (11). They had the win of the weekend over the Hawks. But they also had four losses, albeit against very strong competition. 7-12 all seem very close in terms of overall resumes.

11. FCA (7). Probably not the start to the fall they were hoping for. By all accounts there are a lot of new pieces to this team and they might need more time to gel.

12. Mad Dog West (12). Idle this weekend as far as I know.

13. Thunder (14). Idle this weekend but get a shot against Madlax next weekend. I agree with those praising the athleticism of this team.

14. Crabs (15). Idle this weekend.

T-15. Legacy (14). Lost to Express on Columbus Day. Tough start to the fall so far.

T-15. Laxachusetts. Some nice wins up north this weekend, but no marquee wins. They seem to be trending in the right direction.

Watch list is same as before, but I’d add Iron Horse (TX) who had some nice results in Lone Star State and Kings (CO).

Also we should give a HOCO shout out to Bethesda who had some nice results this weekend. Good to see a team that stuck it out in Elite last year when others folding looking like they are improving.

I’ll give it to Venom, they brought in some big power players this year, should be top team in the area if everyone can play nice together. 2way, we’ll see at tristar. How in your right mind could you put the Rebels up with them over teams like express and legacy? Let’s look at the Rebels so far, Columbus Day, 29 goals against 8 goals, vs express, legacy and rush. Then at blatant they finally got 2 wins vs BTB…. Ok and Surge (b team). Hopefully this was just someone trolling HARD

Rebels certainly have the easiest schedule at the moment for Tristar

Rebels are a much better team than their record at Islip. That’s the worst tournament because teams have only a couple of weeks to prepare. The teams that laying together the longest are most successful. Rebels will be a challenging team this year.

Look at express schedules in all divisions and let us know who has the easiest

The recent tourney wins by Hydra, Frost and Lockjaw show that A/B+ Level LI teams can easily win tourneys off the island. It’s a good moral boost for the boys and the franchises rather than constantly battling it out with the top LI teams. We all know who the top teams are it’s all about getting your kid to play better. None of these games really matter.
