Every year, there are 5 or more schools that can wit it all...and every year, at least in the women's game, the same teams are--by and large--in the final 4...while it sounds great that there are possibly other teams that can be champs, reality is that it wont happen...
It will happen, there are a handful of teams that will have a chance over the next 8 years. In no particular order: Duke, Syracuse, Penn, USC, Stanford, Boston College and a couple of others could win a National Championship.
Virginia, Penn State and Princeton could all be back in the final four with a chance to win it all again.
Add Northwestern, Maryland and North Carolina to the mix and there are 12 - 15 teams that will have legitimate chances to win a National Championship over the next 8 years (probably more like 15 - 18 teams).
Personally, I think Maryland, North Carolina, Penn State, Syracuse, Northwestern, Duke, USC, Princeton, Penn and Stanford will be the front runners over the next 8 - 10 years.
* Before 2001, this championship was a national collegiate championship.
