They then reach out to "hired hands" essentially, and show up and play in tournaments with MERC players. If you play these teams, you are only playing around 10 players that are actually on these teams. Exactly right! The only reason for any of this is the Directors can’t say no to the tuition from those 10 families. If you don’t have enough players to make a team you should cut those players so they can go play somewhere else on a real team. It was a con job.
But then those players could go play for another team… that’s contrary to what a lot of these club directors are about— tuition, and being able to beat the other competing clubs in the area. If they were truly about developing lacrosse players, they’d do exactly what you suggest— cut the players who will not play so they can go learn and develop elsewhere.
