Yeah you definitely held back your kid and just can’t admit it was for lacrosse lmao. It’s almost always to gain an advantage in sports gtfo that’s such a cop out. How many times do you see your average student getting held back? Not much. There’s a reason it happens so much in sports and it’s to gain an advantage on the field. Holding your kid back for sports is a weak and lost thing to do no matter the sport. “Oh little Timmy you were just an average player when you were playing kids your own age, let’s just have you compete against kids younger than you so can finally be good and not have to work for it!”

Re-classed kids all over the basketball court and football field. Some cry just to cry.

Not every good player was re-classed. I’m sure you tell your little guy that after ever game. Don’t worry son most of those players were re-classed. That’s why they are good.

I am hearing MIAA Winter sports will start in March and end in April, Spring sports begin in May and end in June. Will probably end after School ends. Is anyone else hearing this?

Each of those U seasons meant that you played at each for 2 years - one year on the younger side and one year on the older side-

Terps top attackman is returning for his 5th year and has to be 25-26 years old. He is getting praise for the entire lacrosse community- except I guess little Johnny who is an 18-19 year old freshman who dad wants him to transfer now because it’s not fair!!

Change to Grad Years has made it worse, most prep and bmore private schools were already reclassing kids but now its across the board and with club lacrosse spread like wildfire parents are way more invested not just with money but time.So many schools to choose from within a few mile radius or even ones that travel 30-60 miles away.(to play with other reclass kids) Parents in the 70's-90's never were so invested in their kids teams like they are now. Not only the kid but the parent spends just as much time as player on a year round club team.Then add the money being spent to make sure player is GREAT makes sites like these so darn fun and entertaining. The helicopter parents badly drivng around in full size SUVS cant get enough of it. The obsession of not letting kid fail or fall behind is why this is such a sore subject. Even though those that may fall behind or play on B teams always manage to catch right up, be just fine and learn some valuable life lessons in the process.

I agree about food life lessons but pretty sure B team players don’t “always manage” to catch up. My experience with my son’s team, and the club teams a year or two higher, is the really good players tend to stay the really good players. Are there some late bloomers at the margins? Sure. Do some kids backtrack a bit? Also sure. But there aren’t a lot of MIAA and top public varsity starters who weren’t pretty darn good A players the whole way. Also if every team in Bmore is full of holdbacks, aren’t holdback kids always just a year than the kids who are a grade ahead? And obviously when they get to high school 1-3 years behind the other kids if there are tons of holdbacks? Either most everyone holds back, and there are no advantages, or it’s rare and there is one. Can’t be both.

nobody cares about kids playing older kids in high school. If your kid is playing older kids he obviously playing up, which is encouraged. However, Kids who should be juniors in high school and stayed back in pre-first then some other grade playing freshman on CLUB teams is flat out wrong. Programs outside of high school should be strictly birthday based, not graduation year. New York started this mess, now they are against it since their schools don't jive with most of the US.

Majority of people with common sense think this way,,,but Many Club Owners and the holdback parents of the world like their holdback johnny getting an advantage others same age dont at Club level.
