Nems is their feeder and Nems is really struggling at younger age groups. You do the math.

Serious question…they did beat NDP in the playoffs last year.

Some interesting results in the BWI Indoor league. M&D beating both Coppermine (by 6) and Hero's in the past couple of weeks. Just winter league indoor stuff, or more evidence of a tightening of the competitive balance in the top tier?

The teams have always been closer than most people think. Plus indoor rewards the best shooters and best keepers which helps M&D.

Also helps when one of your opponents has no subs and only one or two starters. How did M&D do playing against those teams in indoor tournaments?

Beat Heros and lost a close game to Coppermine at the Indoor Championship in Spooky Nook. Not associated with either but seems the gap at the top is narrowing.

Don't call it a comeback!

I guarantee every single team playing in the BWI league has had issues with having their starters, subs, etc. so this isn't really an excuse for any team in indoor. But it's also why you don't see people putting much stock in any of the wins and losses. Just take it for what it is.

There are only 3 or 4 girls that are allowed to shoot on goal for Coppermine so as the girls get older it’s easier to defend.

Could we PLEASE not restart the who's allowed to shoot on Coppermine debate? Just let them run their team the way they want.

Word on the street is they may be adding a star attacker to their team next year - unless this player gets scopped up elsewhere.

If you're talking about the Aces player, it's sooner than next year. Just one more player who can never leave the field. Good luck to the rest who are already battling for PT.

They are like the other middle of the pack A conference teams. They have some really talented players. The new goalie won’t be much of a drop off from the ones who graduated. They have one of the best defenders in the country. They have some talented attack and midfielders. Top to bottom talent and depth is the issue for them, RPCS, GFS, and NDP. They all can surprise a top team but not consistently beat the top teams.

Pre season rankings don’t mean much especially in HS.

Aces is one of the very few teams that has beaten Coppermine over the past two years. Unless the family is moving, this move doesn't make too much sense--assuming the scuttlebutt is accurate.

Agreed. They don't do much to promote athletics anymore. They are losing all of their 28 players to other schools next year. The administration is too busy with other priorities to care.

It doesn't make much sense- but attack is probably one area they could improve. Any idea if this player has a school in mind?

The coaching staff is great and has been doing a lot to try and recruit players. But I think this school is probably hard to recruit girls into because it's known for being so challenging academically. For the right player/student though, it's a great opportunity to get a good education and good coaching.

They only run 3-4 girls through the midfield and it seems like only 3-4 girls want to play defense. This leaves an awful lot of girls playing attack. I find it hard to believe they don't have options internally on such a talented team.

Tell the bird that they just need to play the current players they have on the roster. There's no attacker from another local club that would move that is better than the current roster. Coppermine should never lose a game if they played the talent they have.

Don't know anything about a specific girl going to Coppermine, but I do know the club across multiple levels is imploding, especially at the 27 level. Wouldn't at all be surprised if top 28 players are looking for greener pastures elsewhere.

They just had their first recruiting class and needless to say, "it didn't go well". Only 9 girls placed D1 and a majority of them at bottom level clubs (2 @ Youngstown st, Fairfield, Niagra, Cincinnati, etc). None to top 20 teams.

If someone is a local “star attack” that means they play on a team that actually utilizes their attack and allows them to have a role. Why would they leave to go to a team that has never utilized attack and always runs things through their very dominant midfield? On the hope they change?

You really don’t know much do you. Their goalie is nowhere close to the one that left. They have no middies. Defense should be their strong point unless they get moved to mid.

What club does the “new” goalie play for and was she JV last year or new to school?

Coppermine has been around a little longer but has an even worse recruiting record. Their 2025 class has 6 D1 commits to non-top schools and 3 DIII commits...The club is really banking on their 2028 class to turn it around and they certainly have some top players that will go to top schools, but if my daughter was not in that top group of players I would be concerned and I am not moving her to Coppermine for recruiting help.

Severn lost fire power on offense but I do think they have a young good defense. Will need to play above their grad years for Severn to make the playoffs. Nobody really knows who are getting recruits until next month but I think they are winning the locals as of now which is what they need to do.

From what I understand the coaches have zero say in who makes the team. How true that is… don’t know. So not sure there is a downside to the tryouts. However, intentionally or unintentionally they may favor their girls since they will obviously know them best.

The D2 and D3 coaches will pick 2 goalies and 18 field players per team. The club who manages the tryouts can add more players as they see fit. This is why Long Island teams have 25 or 26 players per roster.

Aces -Imploding??? LOL. What club are you with. I am sure I can guess. The 2025 girls' are playing with programs that they will actually PLAY. If your a top player you will get picked up by a top school.. They have some great talent at the 2026 level. They will commit to top ranked schools.

It got a little jumbled but someone posted that Coppermine was getting a good attacker for next year. Someone responded saying it was going to happen before next year and it was an attacker from Aces- that Aces was imploding as it is a newer club with 2025 being their first team to go through the recruitment process and it was not going as well as expected so younger Aces players were nervous and leaving the club.

Original poster stated they were talking about a local attacker not an Aces girl.

Someone pointed out Coppermine 2025 has less recruits than Aces 2025 with Coppermine banking on their 2028 team to be top recruits and get players not to leave their club.

Big difference in comparing recruiting results of a team ranked #13 last year and a team ranked #52. A team in the top 20 should expect a majority of its starters going to top 50 programs and at least a handful to top-20. Compare the Aces recruiting results to other similarly ranked teams (Top Guns, Grizzlies, YJ B) and tell them that there wasn't a recruiting issue.
