What a joke...no teams dropped out and no times were changed for games so there could be no legit reason why the schedule was changed aside from teams complaining that they have to play too hard of a schedule-and why is that accommodated for some teams??

I blame it on soccer...

There may have been a thread on this, but what is M&D west? Why is there only a 28 team?

M&D West is the old HOCO Pink 2028 team, not sure how the whole switch went down and if M&D tried to get other age groups but was unsuccessful at this point. Looking at HOCO website looks like they aren't fielding any teams at the 2028 age group which is tough for those girls when there were 2 teams a year ago.

Quite a few schedules got easier including Crush, Coppermine, and M&D as noted. Sorry Pride got the bad draw, but I've heard they are much improved.

Exactly. Did they think no one would notice with only two teams schedules flipping? And Crush is basically in a B Pool at this point even if Pride played them tough at Mid-Atlantic in July.

I heard they lost their best player to M&D.

They did, but they also say they are much improved through pick-ups

A few players moved up from the B team but no pickups to move the needle.

And to the person who noted that other clubs schedules changed--ummm...that was the result of swapping M&D's and Pride's schedules.

Predictions for National Fall Lax Fest in the A bracket:

-Coppermine, Eagle Stix, and Crush finish 3-0.

-Crush advances to the bracket as they are playing the easiest schedule (Belles, FCA, and Pride).

-Coppermine advances, as their schedule is also favorable (Same as Crush with #9 Sky Walkers subbing for FCA).

Eagle Stix left out on points (looks like Thinklax uses Goals Against, then GD), as they are playing two top 5s (M&D and MDU) and #12 (NXT) and should have a tougher time with the tiebreaker metrics.

--New look M&D and MDU teams both go 2-1, but lose to Eagle Stix.

--Sky Walkers could go 2-1, 1-2, or 0-3 depending on its pretty-balanced matchups against NXT and Pride. I'm guessing 1-2. The Sky Walkers game is also the best chance for NXT (Eagle Stix, M&D) and Pride (Coppermine, Crush) to get wins as they play very tough schedules.

--Tough bracket for FCA and Belles.

The playoff format for Fall Lax Fest needs an update. 3 teams from the bottom division doesn't do anyone any good.

Agree that Coppermine and Crush cruise to 3-0. M&D could go 3-0 if they jump on Eagle Stix early. Eagle Stix isn't built to score goals quickly or come back when down by 3-4 goals.

I think Skywalkers has improved more in the off season than people realize. They will win their games against NXT and Pride.

Next year is when they will be competitive. There's already rumblings of some girls leaving their current teams to go to Skywalkers. The current players better not get comfortable.

I'm not a parent so could be wrong, but I think they will be competitive this year. They were already much improved by end of last year and I believe they added some good players (re-class at midfield?). But rumblings already? The current season hasn't even started.

SW 2027 has added 15 new players since summer before 8th grade. Maybe not as drastic, but could be similar.

I think SW improved so much that they're going to dominate Coppermine. Mark it down.

That's a drastic step, while SWB improved, they are not there yet.

SWB did turn over a good amount of the roster and brought in some good additions. They moved players to White and increased their talent. They will definitely be improved. They have a good coach which will help as well.

Schedule is out for mid Atlantic. What is everyone’s thoughts?

Interesting scheduling effort. No bracket, so it looks like the schedulers attempted to create 3 A-level pools, rather than just put Coppermine, Eagle Stix, Hero's, and M&D all in one. You could then have a AA pool with MDU, Crush, Aces, and Sky Walkers, and a AAA with Jesters, NXT, Pride, and 3D Colorado AA. But I digress. The way they did it leaves a clear favorite for each A pool.

--Coppermine has a pool with M&D, Aces, and NXT. Aces has played Coppermine tough in a tournament format before, hading them one of only 3 losses all year in Hershey last summer. But this is a new year. Coppermine has M&D's number, and they should handle NXT.

--Eagle Stix heads up the second A pool, with MDU, Sky Walkers, and Pride. They will be heavy favorites in all 3 games, allowing for a surprise from the new look MDU and Sky Walkers teams. We can reassess after National Fall Fest.

--Hero's Green has Crush, Jesters, and 3D Colorado AA--the surprise winner of the Mid-Atlantic Summer Club Championships in July. Hero's should be favored, but there should be some competitive games in there. Crush could also win this pool.

I think you're looking at the schedule for Chesapeake Invitational, which is still relevant to this thread, but PP asked about MidAtlantic. A lot of similar teams, but different match ups and a playoff.

National Fall Lax Fest - Key Questions

With the updated schedule, the A pool, Candles, gets 3 teams into the bracket playoffs. Looks like Coppermine, Eagle Stix, and Crush, all have clear paths to the playoff. None of them play each other, and Crush plays three teams ranked #19 or higher last year. So key questions for Sunday:

--Will Coppermine cruise, or is "soccer" causing them to miss key players?

--Is Eagle Stix back, or is their swoon at the Mid-Atlantic in July a sign of a changing competitive landscape?

--Will Crush take advantage of their clean run to the bracket to surprise one of the big two in the playoff?

--Is Sky Walkers, with their rumored influx of talent (including from Coppermine), a dark horse candidate to make the bracket?

--Is M&D, M&D again?

--What does the new-look MDU have in store for opponents; can they rely on other options to score?

--Does the second tier group of the Candles pool (FCA, Pride, NXT, Stars) pull off any upsets against any of the top 10?

Skywalkers talent from Coppermine? To what are you referring?

Wondering which clubs this influx of talent is coming from too...

I'm just asking the questions. You will have to take it up with the Sky Walkers boosters above on this page (61) and in prior pages who have made the claims that they had talent come in and at least some of it from C-Mine.

The best player from Coppermine blue went to Skywalkers and they had other players come in. A lot of SWB players moved down to white.

They got a 2027 re-class who seems like she could be a big addition. They definitely improved.

Has anyone applied and received an acceptance for the Best in Class event for next summer? Realizing the 28 group is more a money grab, interested to hear if anyone has received communication back after applying.

dude - this is bordering on obsessing. Who cares. It's a coppermine blue player but why do you care so much. And considering she's an8th grader maybe she's improved since she tried out at coppermine and was put on their blue. But if you're not on SW team why do you care so much.

I applied in late August, have not heard anything. They also want communication through player not parent so she will get the email, which leads to me asking her every other day if she has heard back.

My 14 yr old not the best at checking emails, but maybe thats the point.

We applied around one month ago for our ‘28 daughter and have not heard anything back. We didn’t even receive a confirmation email for our submission, but wasn’t sure if that was typical or not.

Haven’t heard anything. Although, it’s probably wiser to use the $900 for local private training.

Last year it took a few days under 2 months for us to get an acceptance email.

#2 M&D Black ( added the best player from Bethesda 27and the best player from Pride)
#3 Coppermine ( added legit players but there is only 1 ball which will lead to turmoil, jealousy, and in-house destruction)
#4 Crush ( amazing that they can keep this together)
#5 Skywalkers ( they will only get stronger as they get into high school. They will get the players next year from Coppermine that want to get recruited)

lol - ok. The team who's been the clear #1 team locally for years is somehow going to drop to 3rd? You're getting high off your own supply.
