What is a good percent to get offered from a college for lacrosse?

On average 20% for the good ones. You will hear of a very few that get full and some will get 50% and lots in between. If you get 20% that is good.

I’m assuming you are a HS player so I’ll break it down like this. If you are one of the best players on your HS varsity team as a sophomore and one of the best players on your club team and assuming that both of these teams are highly competitive, you might get some D1 offers come fall of junior year. The great thing about lacrosse is that there are hundreds of college programs from D1 to club, so there is usually a path for almost any HS player to play college lacrosse. My advice would be to focus on academic first then lacrosse second because your odds of getting an academic scholarship are about 100 times more likely than one for athletics. Good luck!

Completely depends. At the D1 level, for a field position player, anything over 35 % is exceptional. SOmetimes a top goalie will get more. There will be exception where a top player will get more, but that is truly an exception.

So for example. Women's lax gets 12 scholarships in total. That's 3 per year.

Most schools bring in 8-10 girls per class. of though, 6 or 7 are usually getting $$ while 2-3 are PWOs. So 7 girls are dividing up 3 scholarships with goalies and sometime draw specialists getting more.


Also you should not that most athletic grant in aid are given in $$, not percent. So they can keep the award the same while decreasing % over time as tuition rises.

That is a very broad question. Athletic Scholarships can be between Zero and 100% of total cost to attend the school (some will jump on this and say 100% athletic scholarships never happen in lacrosse, to that I would say never say never although 100% would be extremely rare). The NCAA maximum number of scholarships that a program can offer is 12 per year (12 split up among the entire team). Not every program is fully funded, meaning the program may not have the maximum of 12 athletic scholarships they may have fewer to spit up.

Coaches have their recruits "ranked / prioritized" and the top kids will be offered more than the lower ranked players i.e. the coaches #1 will receive more $$ than the #5 etc...

Top tier recruits (the type of player being offered $$ at Top 10 caliber programs will most likely be able to negotiate more $$ if they are willing to drop to lower tiered programs.

Theoretically a coach would have 3 scholarships to divide among an incoming freshmen class (although with the transfer portal and the extra year of eligibility things have changed).

Hypothetically:

#1 - 75%
#2 - 50%
#3 - 50%
#4 - 30%
#5 - 30%
#6 - 30%
#7 - 25%
#8 - 10%
#9 - 0

or any other combination imaginable... :-)

Most coaches will not decrease a players scholarship but they may increase the award is some instances.

Keep in mind that at some schools depending on your financial situation and how many kids you have in college need based aid can amount to more than an athletic scholarship, Also, academic/merit money can also be awarded at many schools.

I would say that 'a good percent" is in the eye of the beholder.... 30% athletic scholarship at a 70K per year University would not be enough for many but would be great for others...

Laxon losing in their tournaments then bumping down to the weakest brackets to win and finishing 116 this fall. The weird thing about them is they picked up every teams cuts. At least the girls get to play on a team that isn’t called a D team.
Then you have top guns black playing in a c-d bracket in Dallas
Liberty is essentially MIA , not even sure if they are actually a real team
91 played teams that can’t even catch and beating them then losing to a team ranked 70th is pretty spot on with the type of play the club thinks they can achieve.
Don’t even get me started on jesters pink, 91 navy, or elevate which should all just take the L and fold now.

Stony brook is known for decreasing scholarships to kids who underperform and giving $$ to girls performing well

If true that is the exception and not the rule…
BTW, I have not heard that SBU is “known for decreasing scholarships”…. It might happen but I don’t thin that is what they are known for.

Weird I said programs when referring to validity of UNC camp with 10-20 programs attending. I also alluded to parents bringing their daughters to schools they were qualified for. You somehow inferred I meant 200 kids going to Stanford with 8th grade A’s was my support of that.
My message still is valid. I be you attend the 185 college coach 3rd party showcases before 90 coach Team tourneys because of exposure. Weird the before day has more than the actual tournament but ok.
