Not even close. Pedestrian is a ridiculous comment. Kid is a work horse and so talented. I’m not from WB, but you can hear the whole opposing sideline commenting on how great the kid is during the game. Let’s not minimize this kid. We should be supporting all these girls, none of you would want your kids spoken about like this on this forum.

The Ward Melville player is the best player on LI.

WB is the only school this year to record more assists than goals in game. You have to question how legit the stats are.

As far as YJ 21 overrated, you all must be fools if you think for one moment a top D1 program is going to give a scholarship to an overrated player because CR said to! You do that more than once or twice and you’re fired! Get a clue before you come on here ranting your BS! Your daughter didn’t make it! Move along!

The comment was she is “an outstanding athlete” and “she is great” . NO ONE put her down. The comment was that against excellent players (not 1 v1) she looked “pedestrian”. That is a fact against BBP’s middies and zone. Shots from 12 meters usually don’t go in. No one minimized her...just stated a fact and opinion. That what this forum is for. Not slander.

You are correct about the coaches at the Top D1 Programs. They do not take orders from CR or anyone else. The coaches at the best (Top 10-20) programs identify the best HS players and they offer them a spot. The reason the same 10-15 programs are always Too 10-20 is because they get the best players.

She may have had the most assists, even though that number was clearly inflated by her coach, but they were against weak teams. Against good teams she never did much. I would still like to know how her Dad got Newsday to change her from second to first team??

The Jesters coach is the HS coach and allows this nonsense to go on at HS and club level (jesters). Inflated stats and the whole team catering to one player..... no wonder WB and Jesters will not be successful. Spring, HS, summer when playing against equal players..... average player.

So here’s the problem, wether you want to choose the girl you mention above or the girl who won, or any of the other dozen girls in the senior class who are all legit players, all very good. But there are no superstars among them. Choose any of them and you could make an argument for them and obviously against them. Many years you have a girl or two who are just a level above, makes this discussion a bit easier. It’s easy to get caught up in the history of the names and the lists and the selections over the years, if it were simply based on performance from this year on the HS field, you may want to start a new list.

Quite the contrary, that coach is amazing. All the kids that I know that have worked with her, or have been coached by her, have nothing but great things to say.

There is no shortage of “mad jealous people” in the world of girls / women’s lacrosse.

There are definitely a lot of people who get frustrated with the shenanigans that go on in lacrosse. I wouldn't necessarily say they are jealous. Some valid points have been brought up, with no answers offered.

What valid points?

* More assists than goals, how is that possible??
* Plays a weak non-competitive schedule not nearly impressive than the schedule others play. No other stat leader playing a weak schedule received these accolades (ex/ Center Moriches)
* Newsday changes an accolade after it's been posted?
* Easy to shine as a good player playing a weak schedule when the team revolves around one player.

Point is, many other girls equal or better. There is no phenom here!

Same complaints every year... some parents just can’t take it when other players are recognized as being a stronger player than their daughter. You should have had your daughter run track.

Yes, weak! Look at the BBP and GC games/scores and you will see why the league was not strong this year. All those other teams you mentioned were competitive amongst themselves, but not against the better teams. They were like a JV team in comparison. As I recall, LI championship was a blowout.

There were others in WM division that beat her. Just because she's going to a top lacrosse program doesn't mean she performed well this year. Of course the school and YJ connection had the biggest part of this pick. Funny if she was so great, she certainly didn't get the job done on the circle especially in the Sachem East game and in OT....

What don't they get? All of the awards are opinion.

Not making excuses. My daughter had many offers and going div 1. i stated a fact that having Rose backing you gets your name out there more then other clubs. Its a fact. many girls from these other clubs absolutely get over looked, and are better players then yj 21s.

Ummmm … how accurate was the stats this year? Not a great job on my daughters team of keeping stats. Some of the girls were robbed as stats were not kept well at all. I felt bad for the players who were not credited for their hard work. Seems like On some other teams, it seems like stats were inflated? How can these stats be taken seriously if there is not a better way for it to be more fair in reporting them. I think If stats were Logged accurately, Many of the girls on 2nd team would be on 1st over some who are.

Think some of the other Srs.and Juniors who ended up on 2nd team deserved to be on 1st team and were not. SA Junior was phenomenal all around player. I Think she got robbed on stats as they did not seem recorded well for that team. If her stats were recorded accurately, she would no doubt belong on first team. Great player and no! She’s not my daughter!

Well there’s no better sign that AS is a huge money grab than them having 2 teams at each grade from Long Island. So 44 girls from each grade made the team. So much for it being for only the best players.

The AS website states:

“Each region will have 4 teams, one per age group”

LI full of lacrosse talent. I’m sure the 44 LI girls chosen, can play with the best from the rest of the country. I guess we will see how they do. It’s a shame the whole UA / AS stuff is competing with each other

Yeah and then they went and made 7 teams on Long island. 1 2022 team and 2 teams at the 2023/2024/2025 levels. Anytime you put a $600 price tag on playing in an event it's amazing how they can find a way to bring in more kids.

The same is true in MD. Why is only LI doing this?

They should have been upfront with people. Not right!

Going with 2 teams will certainly water down the competitiveness of each team but going head to head with UA really makes 3 teams.... most likely the top talent will be spread out, everybody can say they made a team but it will now be "everybody gets a trophy". Sorry, but there are not 65+ legitimate "Top Tier Players" from each grad year from Long Island. Even if there was a way to select the "best" which there is not 65 plus players is just too many... The Good news is that if the Top 30 or so try out they will all most likely make one of the teams...

This sport is just screwed up...

The good news is that there is tremendous opportunity out there for all of the girls who want to play.
