What team are you talking about?

Its just awful. We have been there for a while now. My daughter is a 2019 and DK and daughter did NOTHING to help her get recruited. We paid for everything. Every clinic, every recruiting seminar, time with Vic, etc. and got NOTHING for our money. I sent my daughter to some college camps and she has interest from a few schools. One of the college coaches said to me "we called/emailed your club director about your daughter and never heard back". I think that says it all. Elevate is just awful. The entire club is a Ponzi scheme and I am not sure who is worse, DK or the daughter!

They are talking about Riverhead . I am actually surprised at the kids and parents in that team .They know the deal and I would have thought the players and parents of those players would understand sportsmanship and would also be somewhat embarrassed to individually score so many points when they play overmatched opponents .Sadly the parents out there have taught their kids to be the gross ballhog type players their own kids have no respect for .

Who cares what team? Ball hog is a ball hog, blame the coach. If a player repeatedly runs to the goal every time she touches the ball and the coach does not correct the problem it is on the coach. Selfish play will rarely be rewarded with a championship.

It really doesn't matter what team they are talking about, selfish play is ugly and is detrimental to the team. Most teams will actually play better without the ball hogs. Not making the pass also hurts on the defensive end as well as in transition. When the selfish player does not pass the ball when it should be passed the entire flow is disrupted and opportunities are missed. Not passing when you should will also result in additional turnovers.

A team will always play better without selfish players.

Score as many goals in a 20-2 game as you do in a 9-8 game, and nobody will have a problem with you...otherwise its a joke. All riverhead kids have is stats, let them enjoy that, any halfway decent team they played, they got beat by double digits, and thats with the other teams putting in their backups.

Number 1. Who cares? They "All play for WM.

Number 2. They have not taken over anything.

Did i read that right in the paper today? the 4 seed got beat by 13 goals yesterday? pretty bad conf, b,c and d teams would walk away with a conf.

WM is having a good year, their 1st in the last 40yrs and they cant post enough...take it slow...

None, they are all Wave and Title 9 girls, now give those clubs some respect(2017 and 2018 are for real)

And there are plenty of ways to ball hog other than just barreling down the field. I think the most resentment seems to be the kids that put up big numbers against obviously overmatched teams as in the Riverhead ,Lindy game. The coaches obviously have no control over their players or parents in these type situations. I don't blame the coaches as much as the parents . No coach wants a few ball hogs lighting it up in lopsided games, the kids themselves all know what they are doing is gross and an embarrassment but mom and dad tell them they better do it so they have a choice , embarrass themselves and be a poor teammate or go home to an angry mom and dad who belittle them if they don't. Not an easy choice for these kids to make but mom and dad are so proud they have pushed their kid to be at the top of the leaderboard, congrats to them on a parenting job well done. I think most parents including myself have been guilty of this to varying degrees but now I am more proud when they are good teammates and show better sportsmanship.

To the point, just checked Newsday game stats. WM scored 17 goals yesterday. 10 were assisted, 11 players scored goals, 13 players had points. One player had four goals and I was told they were all assisted. Not to leave out the kids who play D or the goalie... only for goals against. That looks like a Team effort to me.

Looks like unfounded whining again to me! News flash - every high scorer is not a ball hog. A ball hog is someone who plays with their head down and runs to goal with blinders on. Scoring does not look out of line for this team - lots of kids scoring, lots of assists etc. Better kids understand how to get open and have an impact offensively. Those same kids are often the ones running middie and busting their butt all over the field feeding the ball to kids that don't work so hard, struggle to catch and score and turn it over. At the end of the day the coach needs to set the tone on sportsmanship and how much scoring is appropriate (of course parents play a role as well). Despite what is written on this site, I think most coaches do a fairly good job in this area.

Actually, not many posts at all. I do not believe the post asking how many play for YJ came from a WM parent. Just another Jack A-- trying to stir the pot. Im sure the hatters will come out in full force if they continue to have success.

Most of those girls on the leaderboard are great players and are going to great colleges. Oh wait they must have fooled all those college coaches but not you almighty one. The Riverhead girls are good players its not their fault who their competiton is...and they do score against good teams. Maybe not as many...its called defense.

Great to see a new team having success. Lots of good players and good kids from WM. Hope their success continues.

For sure, TG 17 and 18 were prob 0-20 against YJ over the last 5yrs...with not 1 game being close...sounds good though.

WM parents not fans of the YJ organization looks like it was a wise choice for them, as they look to be the big girl champs this year!

Riverhead is a very young team that starts a lot of Freshman and Sophomores.They have definitely been overmatched by a couple of schools like Ward Melville and Middle Country, like most teams have this year, but overall they have shown a lot of improvement and have some good wins too. The three top girls do a lot of scoring but they are deeper than just the three girls. A lot of goals are scored against the weaker teams and it does help their stats, but that happens on a lot of teams a combination of coaching and ballhogging. Looking at yesterdays game they had 18 goals scored by 8 girls with 11 assists. That doesn't seem out of line with what goes on against teams like that, doesn't look any different than the boxscore from the ward Melville 16-2 game against Lindenhurst the other day. Just a couple of years ago teams did the same to Riverhead.

How about against obviously overmatched teams get other kids on your team involved you moron. Do you really need to put up big points in a 18 goal blowout, other than for your own ego. As far as the Riverhead team scoring against good teams , not really , they score when the good teams put in their backups which is exactly why you would think those players ,parents, coaches would get the idea of pulling it back a little against overmatched teams. Just because a player can score 10 goals in an overmatched game does not mean they should, even a dope like you sees that they cannot score against teams that actually have a defense. I would bet the team chemistry must be great over at Riverhead .I know a few kids on that team who were descent players who have quit the team because of the ball hogs.

Fans or not fans, nobody cares about summer BS. WM parents for the most part have done a pretty good job by Not posting on this site. Please don't start now, leave the nonsense to the jealous haters and the trolls who like to stir the pot. Games will be played on the field and there are many more that need to be played. Be happy for the girls but please do not contribute to the negative chatter. Guaranteed it was not a WM parent who brought up the BS.

Disgruntled parents are in every program. Riverhead has been a bad team for years, your "decent" players probably left because of playing time not because of ball hogging, if they were ever decent at all. Now they are winning some games and we hear they've lost talent? Coaches don't let decent talent walk, especially on a team with no depth like Riverhead. That team is good enough to win some games, maybe even make the playoffs, but won't ever be able to compete with the better teams, so score your goals while you can.

Why can't anybody on this site spell the word decent? There is no "s" in it.

So you think teams should score as much as possible no matter the level of competition, makes you seem like a loser . Go look at the most recent games of the top teams in Suffolk in every division A,B,C,D, each played non competitive games , each spread the scoring out , none of these teams let ball hog players pad their stats . The Riverhead girls are average at best and would not be able to score against those top teams previously mentioned so they pad their stats against weak competition ,it's sad .

Does it go all division, all conference and then all county? And who determines this

politics and stat padders. Far too many defenders are left off list every year. That's why we play what is known as a selfish me first game

In Suffolk there is All-Division (same as all-league) then All County. Coaches association has an end of year meeting where they vote for awards. Each team is allotted a certain amount based on how they placed at the end of regular season.
