Re: MD Girls 2028
Anonymous

We appear to need a new topic.
Any competitive lacrosse planned between now and NGLL? Too early for 2028s to check out D1 Winter Prospect Camps? Do any of the Baltimore teams take advantage of opportunities to play 6s or other tourneys? Most of the top local 2028 clubs are playing in the BWI winter indoor league (instead of the Coppermine indoor league which does not offer an 8th grade division). Competion against each other is worth it, but they have been crushing the JV high school teams. Some clubs are playing in the Indoor Tournament in Spooky Nook in January as well as a tournament in Florida in January.

Is there a website or app that lists colleges and what positions they have open still for recruiting? You can look at commits by college in IL’s website. Assume a school takes maybe one goalie and face off guy each class and then maybe a few each of middie/attack/d. Yes, inside lacrosse 2025 commitment page. My quests is most of the top schools are done or will be highly selective to add or just go transfer portal. But there is still great d1 opportunities at schools like Binghamton, Drexel and Delaware. To name a few. The D2s start to get active now. https://www.insidelacrosse.com/recruiting/commitments?class=2025&league=1

I'm sure some Maryland players are participating in the 2024 WSYL, but are any specific teams from MD being formed?
Would love to see MD represented one day. WSYL's qualifier is the same weekend as the start of HOCO Spring League. I doubt any elite teams will forfeit a hoco game to participate.

A 2028 looking for training opportunities?
Sorry. Too late. He should have hit the wall and started training 10 years ago.
His best bet is to start researching public schools, community colleges, and update his resume for a ditch digging job.

BPG will have their affiliates playing, not the national teams you dunder. Meaning, BL and Duke’s (maybe even a Delco and some of the smaller teams, not sure). As for the NLF, they are desperate; my son guest played for one of the teams, as did a ton of players, proving the current talent ain’t that good. Sorry pal; your son stinks Hhh youth teams will not win a game all season. Which age? Any of them !!! Total joke of a program. Well you are the one HHH detractor here. Few posts up HHH was called the premier program. Only way to get recruited is to be on HHH. HHH youth programs are fine. The families that are a part of it are getting what they want...low key, fundamentals based, team fun. Not everyone is looking for 2-3X a week practices year round for a 10 year old where your kid can be recruited over. Been there done that, learned from it. If that is the case, then that is great the kids and parents. Just as long as you know your run with HHH will end in 8th grade when the real talent starts rolling into the club for high school.

Will the power league take place of the conference approach of past in the path to state championship? Really like the idea of top town teams competing, regardless of school class size, to help further develop the kids and for overall great experience for all. Let’s also agree that large schools will have a clear advantage in the power league given large pool of kids to work with. So again, is the power league an add-on or will it take place of conference approach of past? I believe the power league will play each team in that league and probably a few games outside the league. When it comes to playoffs, teams get automatic bid. In playoffs teams go back to A, B, C, and D for conferences playoffs. By the way, for purposes of the power league, it's not about school size, it's strength of teams. So smaller schools like CSH and Manhasset will be in power league but larger schools like Uniondale and Baldwin will not. Girls side has done it that way for years without complaints Girls side, that speaks volumes about your athletic ability and lacrosse knowledge. You probably scream about holdbacks too, doesn’t that make kids better? Must be same dummy whining about the power league. His/her posts are increasingly unintelligible.

If MCD is depending on 91 MD for talent at the 28s and beyond - that’s going to be interesting.
But I’m hearing MCD is trying to convince some DC and Annapolis area kids to board at the 2028 age. Some of my sons friends and teammates have mentioned that they were approached about boarding. Most are from stable homes which have no interest in offloading the daily duties of raising their kids to a school who promotes/supports some of the more extreme positions on sexual orientation etc. Extreme? Like couch casting or bu++ stuff?

detest to break it to you slick, but the rosters of pretty much every top D-1 program is nothing but rich kids from private schools. Better get on board or play d-3, that’s what’s left for Public school kids! You got me. OK, meathead, remind me again what is wrong with NCAA D3 lacrosse? He should know, he was one of those prep school kids who had to reclass to compete with the public school kids. Now he puffs his chest talking about his prep school team in the lunch room at his lax bro job in finance where he makes less money than most of those public school kids. He lives in the house his parents left him in the neighborhood he grew up in where he struggles to pay the property taxes and country club fees so he can keep up with his neighbors lifestyles. This is all he has is, spewing his detest on an online child sports board. You’re right, all except the property taxes and CC dues, that’s easy, I do have dad’s company after all. Hey we’re hiring guys to clean the toilets on the overnight, you interested? He definitely was a reclass. Sounds like a little man overcompensating for something else.

2) M&D They are getting a lot of credit for blowing out teams I feel are overinflated (CLC/Phantastix), they also had some injuries to key players and aren't where they will be in summer.
11) Skywalkers Blue Obviously they improved, we all saw this coming, I'm not sure they are top-12 though. Their best game was a 4-3 win over Mass Elite. Some things don't look good, a 5-4 win over Salt City? Only losing by 3 to FS and by 1 to M&D (was this a palyoff short game?) looks great.
16) Coppermine They always hang around, maybe they are as good as they've been, they don't have a signature win but the 5-6 loss to Aces was impressive, but losing to HW 5-6 as well. Just odd.
19) MD United I know they are without some stars due to injury but I still don't think these scores should be this ugly. Losing to CT Grizzles and not even competing against FS and HG, two teams they tied or beat last year.
What’s your take on the NY teams in top 25?
3) Jesters I know they added a new goalie but to me their defense is one of the best anyways so already strong there. They aren't top-5, but yes, they are still top-10 and will have some nice wins. Offense will be better than previous seasons.
5) Aces They are inconsistent, but when on, they are as tough as anyone. I always felt if you can keep up in Draws, and slow game down, you can beat them. If you combined Jesters with Aces it would be a super team. Nice showing against M&D but got all they could handle vs Coppermine.
9) Prime Time They aren't this good. They are solid team no doubt but not top-10. Blowing the doors off Top Guns got them in top-10. Couple of nice offensive players.
12) Monster There's not one game where I was impressed based on scores, I think PT and Triple Threat are overrated based on standings, and I think they are in that category with them. They do have a few girls who can really shoot well.
24) Liberty This sounds about right. They did almost beat Steps Navy, which I find a real tough team to figure out. 6-3 win over NXT legitimizes their ranking.

I've seen Coppermine vs MDU go head to head and its always a hard fought, well played game. ITs not M&D vs Hero's, but its entertaining.

M&D and Hero's on a different level. But people tend to forget sometimes there is still a lot of great lacrosse played among many other local teams. We're lucky to live in an area where there are so many viewing options at tournaments

This. The system gave the LI teams way too much credit which bumped their SoS up a good amount. Never heard of tradition yet they are number 10?
The post about algorithm is accurate. The system didn’t have enough information to figure out what to do with the LI teams who only played themselves.
Look at NXT. Lost to M&D and Eagle Stix once and beat them once. Lost to Heros. Yet they are 4 and M&D and ES are 9 and 8? Coppermine who only lost to heros and M&D is 7??
Once Monsters, LITG and YJ travel south. Things will change. Team 91 is the only one who deserves to be up there above Coppermine, ES and M&D.
Biggest reason why fall rankings are kind of pointless. Tradition is a town team and it is impressive that they can compete with the top teams. They benefited the most playing higher ranked teams. Fall ranking are ridiculous because the sample size (# of games) is too low. One LI team only played 6 games while the others had 9. MD teams will move up since they play each other in the NGLL while LI teams do not play until the summer tournaments. You've provided contradictory information. You can't say that one team benefits from a small number of games and another team benefits from playing in a league with a large number of games. Make up your mind or just stick to the algorithm. Rating is average goal differential plus average strength of opponents.

Here's my take on the MD teams in Top-25.
1) Hero's Green Hard to say they should be ranked ahead of M&D, but really splitting hairs here, based on last year of data and fall, I got no problem with them at #1.
2) M&D They are getting a lot of credit for blowing out teams I feel are overinflated (CLC/Phantastix), they also had some injuries to key players and aren't where they will be in summer.

However, their draw girl probably false starts on 70% of draws. When refs start calling that, they can't beat good teams. When they don't, they will win 2/3rds of the draw and can beat anyone. Yellow Jackets is most talented team in Northeast and will minimal roster changes since last year will be competitive in every tourney this Summer.

Can’t beat the Yellow Jacket recruiting machine, other clubs do OK, but simply don’t have the reach. You have some programs that are connected to certain high end schools, but YJ connected to all high end schools. CR is well-connected, but so are most established club directors these days. The talent of the player is what matters. College coaches know how to find talent. My older daughter, who is not YJ, had top D1 coaches lining the sideline in the fall of her recruiting year. The summer before her recruiting year she went to camps of the schools she was interested in. During the fall of her sophomore year coaches reached out to her club director after seeing her play fall ball. College coaches do have other club coaches' phone numbers - they know how to find your daughter. The schools she was most interested in, she went to their camps. Once the recruiting window opened, she was done in less than a week. Key takeaway - go to camps of the schools your daughter is interested in. Don't believe the nonsense that you have to play for a certain club to get recruited to a school your daughter wants to attend. Just curious where did that daughter end up playing in college? School and/or conference is fine for a frame of reference Guy above missing the point completely, not all kids will have college coaches “lining” the sidelines. True but the #1 team in the country doesn't get more top coaches than than #20 club. D1 coaches will watch all top 30 clubs multiple times. Anyone who says otherwise is either uninformed, never been through the process of straight our lying. Now of course the #1 team will likely have more top 25 commits, but that is because they have better players.
