Re: Girls 2027 Grads - Mid Atlantic Region

One player changing a unit with skills alone (at 13/14) is a stretch. One player changing a unit (at 13/14) with leadership alone is just short of impossible, if not absurd.
When we played SW they didn't appear to be well coached in any phases, so again i doubt one player made that huge difference absent some other changes. The talent looked on par with most of the average teams. But there must be something to the franchise as at least 2 parents from my team are talking about trying out for them year end.

Wouldn't you rather play a team at full strength, and see if you can beat them when they have all of their players versus a skeleton team? Or are you just looking to get W's for your girls however you can get them? Rather get the W. If this relates to the situation I've read on his blog about Coppermine having a game changed then I don't think the issue should be couched in win/loss terms. I think the games should be played as scheduled by the league unless weather, e.g., lightning or both teams agree to a rescheduling. The league should otherwise not reschedule games if only desired by one team. When the league makes a decision for or against a team's request it is put in a position of taking sides. This should not happen and shame on a league's administrators for doing so. Things come full circle and MDU will get the win against Coppermine this season. Coppermine may not even make the playoffs this year.

Maryland's #2 goalie was grad transfer Teddy Dolan, who started vs, Syracuse and had a sub-50 save percentage. He was benched in favor of Ruppel, not injured. Perhaps if McEnnaney nevery got hurt or Dolan kept the starting spot, the plan was for Ruppel to redshirt. He keeps playing the way he is, McNaney will be the backup when he comes back. Ha. Doubt it. People are forgetting who was the goalie last year already? Ruppel may need to consider a move if he wants to play next year. Ruppel style of goalie play is not championship caliber. Too many rebounds! Look at the last two goalies that won championships for Maryland totally opposite from Ruppel. McNaney and Morris are more composed and patient in the goal. They are actually tracking the ball.

Figured this board would be a little more active this being the 2025s most important year. Can’t believe there hasn’t been a hey what’s better post AS or All American post yet. Whichever your DD makes is better obviously :P Haha. This statement is so true. It really is. Listening to the moms and dads [Censored] talk UA tryouts 2 years ago when their Ds didn't make the callback game was classic lax parenting. No princess, they didn't realize how awesome you are but mommy and daddy do.

The FCA 27s who bumped down to 28 team were already strong 2027 players. Now they're easily FCA's top 2028s. But lots of grumblings from FCA kids that got displaced + daddy ball issues. FCA is literally head and shoulders above the competition this year. This could be 3rd year in a row HoCo Elite gets a new champ. And the 2027 Crabs will be early favorites to win 2028 division next year.

As a MD parent of an on age kid - it’s difficult to describe how inconsequential this World Series tournament is.
Yes on age sounds good. But on age is completely and totally irrelevant in the lacrosse world. Literally NO ONE CARES.
Not in club, not in HS and not in college. If the NY crowd feels better about themselves than have at it.
It’s just not the way this game is set up right now. Hopefully it changes soon for kids to come. It won’t impact my son at all.
Besides I could argue that the best on age kids are in MD anyway. To play on those teams against the older kids DAILY cuts a different sort of kid.
Enjoy the tournament. On age means nothing at high school and college. But between the ages of 10-14 it means everything. What part of that do you not comprehend? It means something for 100% sure. It doesn’t mean everything. But keep telling yourself that. You have 1.5 more years to cry about it so get your moneys worth. Again, enjoy the tournament. Nobody is crying about it. This is a public forum to discuss a lot of things. Sometimes people on here are ignorant and impossible to talk to. Sometimes they are open minded and reasonable like you seem to be. The reason that this tournament means a lot to the Long Island and northeast kids is because it’s an opportunity to play against an even playing field. The advantage is non existent. It means nothing to the Maryland crowd because holdbacks are so common. I was on the Maryland board the other day and was amazed at how matter of factly they were referring to teams running into “academic problems”, meaning gonna get a lot of holdbacks. Such common place for kids to be held back that it is just accepted. That is not something that is common here. Yes, it exists. But it’s so far from common. In the end it doesn’t matter. It will all even out after puberty. But at this age it’s overwhelmingly thought of as “unfair”. Nobody is crying about it. But it’s definitely something that people do not like. Hence the reason this particular tournament, and the attitude towards holdbacks, is so different up here. Both Long Island and Maryland will continue to be hotbeds for the sport, along with some other areas catching up. If lacrosse was set up like hockey, which most hope it will eventually be, this back and forth wouldn’t exist. It won’t matter to most of us because our kids will be in high school and beyond by the time the change comes. But it will eventually come.

BR is the man. Best thing ever happened was having him coach my kids. And he does it the right way. What is "the right way"? Good question. What is the right way? Are you referring to the confrontation that he had with a parent at a local establishment?

Team 91 is going to go from never making the playoffs and really rarely winning a game to challenging for first place. 4 kids held back in 8th grade for lacrosse. Proud moment. If this is somehow shocking for any Team 91 parents, you simply have not been paying attention. Bye bye families who've been paying their way for 4+ years and being promised that "91 develops elite players" and "never cuts our players." You can either hold back, or you can go play for Predators or Sidewinders. They showed their usual mediocre results in a March tournament. Yawn, same little practice, same little results. 91 is basically Looneys Lite / Bad News Bears until 9th Grade Hold Back Fest gets underway. Holdbacks from NJ and NY and PA boarding schools on the way to save the team's future. 91 MD doesn't offer anything compelling to kids from NJ, NY and PA. Better options in those markets. You know nothing. At least two NY (both Chaminade) and one NH player for Team 91 MD 2024 have college letters in hand. Obviously the MD 91 program is attracting talent from far outside of the MIAA, and these elite players believe - and have seen for themselves - that there is some benefit to them.

Re: Top NJ Girl's Club Teams

AS tryout was a total joke at the tryout in NY. They actually conducted the tryout without pinnies! Tell me how fair that is. There was no way of knowing who was who. What a joke. And affiliated coach was there with a clipboard in hand making selections, even though the website states they will not use any club affiliated coaches in the selection process. The parents all knew it too. Yes, agree. However at that age, I think the girls are pretty well known on the island from all the other things they do. Club, HS , leagues etc. The top players are pretty much already known. They do the tryouts for $$$s
