Interesting picks. So Coppermine beats Hero's in the season finale, but loses in the semis? Maybe; it's a pick 'em game each time at this point. Would have Pride beating Sky Walkers as they did twice in the Fall. Can see Crush getting by M&D as predicted.

These are the first three tie breaking steps:

1. Teams will be seeded by their record according to the following formula (percentage):
[(#Wins + 0.5*#Ties)/(#Wins + #Losses + #Ties)]

2. Head to Head Competition (if there is a three way tie in head to head competition, that
tiebreaker is thrown out).

3. Goals allowed vs. in-division opponents

There is not a three-way tie in Head to Head Competition, so I don't think head-to-head will get thrown out. I think people are incorrectly assuming head-to-head gets thrown out in a three-way tie, but that is not what the words say. There has to be a three-way tie in head-to-head (e.g., three teams are tied and head to head is the first tie breaker and all three teams have a 1-1 record against each other, so the head to head doesn't break any ties).

It is poorly worded.

It doesn't mention 4 way tie 5 way tie, etc. It also would assume if 3 way tie for record, that all 3 teams played each other, which may not be the case.


I do think it means if that there is 3 or more teams tied after winning percentage, you move to #3, Goals Against.

I found a NGLL document for a different tournament that explains the Head to Head tiebreaker in greater detail (see below). After reading this, it does seem the Head to Head tiebreaker would be thrown out entirely because the tied teams did not all play each other an equal number of times. So, Pride is the likely #2 seed.

"Head to Head - This breaks ties based on the record (or points, if points are
used) against the teams tied with. For example if 3 teams have the same overall
record at 4-2 and all 3 of the teams played each other an equal number of times
and one teams record against the other two was 2-0 and another was 1-1 and
the other was 0-2. This tie breaker would order them accordingly. If all three
teams had identical 1-1 records, this tie breaker would not be used.

It should be noted that this tie breaker is completely ignored if all of the teams
tied do not play each other an equal number of times. For example if there are 3
teams tied and one team played the other two, but the other two did not play
each this tie breaker will be ignored (regardless of the outcome of the two games
played by the first team)."

I think you are mis interpreting the 3 way tie in head to head competition statement. It means, if there is a 3 way tie in the wins/loss percentage than the head to head stat gets thrown out. It gets too muddy looking at head to head with 3 or more teams because of multiple possibilities for scenarios. Ex if A beats B, but C beats A and B and C didn’t play each other. So it is just easier to toss that stat line out the window all together and move to goals against.

Not sure that makes sense. What if Crush ends up with a lower goals against than Hero's? Hero's and Crush didn't play head to head. Why would Hero's get the 2 seed in that case? I think the head to head gets thrown out whenever there is a three-way tie, even though I recognize that the rules only explicitly mention three-way tie in head to head. Goals against would then be the tiebreaker. Currently favors Pride.

Don’t tell that to the Pride parents, they fully expect to be in the finals for a 1 vs 2 match up.

Don't know about that, but being given better than even odds against Sky Walkers would make sense.

Even if Pride sneaks past Skywalkers, they won't beat Crush or M&D.

Tied M&D last time they played and seems to be on a good trajectory. Crush is a tough match up.

Surprising results from M&D and should have improved this year more than they have. What is the issue?

MnD should be playing better than they have been. Hopefully they turn things around soon.

Who did they lose to that they shouldn’t have? It’s all teams ranked higher than them.

Crush wasn't ranked higher when the season started. CCL probably shouldn't have had a 6-2 lead last weekend either if M&D was firing on all cylinders.

The PP is saying that M&D shouldn't be competing or beating teams ranked ahead of them now? Strange take for a club that wants to compete at the top. M&D went from beating Hero's and Coppermine, to competing, and now to losing. Crush was ranked behind and now is ahead with Pride at 8. Is the attitude that whatever team is ranked ahead should win? Doesn't look like improvement.

Taking a stab...it's gotta be the culture and the coaching for this M&D team.

Part of it is just the success of other nearby clubs at this age group. Coppermine recruited hard to get their top 3 middies there (and kept them away from M&D). Crush keeping their top players together also keeps players that typically would be at M&D away. Now the reason why M&D can’t lure those girls away might have to do with culture and coaching but older age groups at M&D didn’t have to deal with other nearby clubs being so successful

Huhhhh? I didn’t realize the older age groups with M&D the other local clubs aren’t successful. Crush is a typical feeder to M&D? Wonder what Coppermine did to keep them away?

Competition is good for the sport and there will always be other teams year to year, that's not the reason why the team isn't having success.

Maybe they didn’t add talent and just added players ?

Coppermine in control all game against Hero’s against a tough Crush team that battles it out. Pride showed they weren’t the 2nd seed. M&D struggles continue.

Heros shows again their weakness on the draw. Can't win games if you never have the ball!
