From the rulebook

in that sport at the new school for one calendar year beginning with the first date of enrollment at the new school. If that student was an
undersquad athlete (freshman or junior varsity) at his previous school, he/she may transfer without penalty, if no other stated policies apply.
The only exception to this policy is if a student’s present school eliminates the athletic program in which he/she is participating."

That is from the rulebook, yes, but a preceding paragraph in said rulebook defines to "varsity athlete" and "that sport" which is the language used in the paragraph you refer to and means the definition of varsity athlete comes into play - read below for the definition. See the definition below - a varsity athlete is not identified by being on a roster but by actual play in an MIAA conference game in the sport in question.

Sooo....according to said rulebook, a varsity basketball player from an MIAA school who played in a conference (MIAA) game is ineligible to transfer and play the next season IN THAT SPORT (basketball). A varsity rostered lacrosse player who plays in a non-conference game (a preseason lax scrimmage, for example) but not in a conference (MIAA) lax game can transfer to another school and play varsity lax the following season.

Hope that helps...

Reposted here for your convenience: "An MIAA varsity athlete is defined as a student who has competed in any way in a varsity interscholastic conference competition. Participation in any non-conference scrimmages or games at the varsity level, throughout the season, does not have an impact upon the transferring student’s status."

Heard the petition was started by the mother. Seems to be a trend for both boys and girls high school lacrosse (entitled players). Unfortunately, student athletes in some of these schools are held to different standards then those who are actually trying to get an education. Kuddos to SP coach for setting boundaries.

StP destroys MSJ by 9 not 8
CH decides to go easy after 3rd with Severn and wins by 12
AS wins in a squeaker by 1
BL makes JC cry for uncle and wins by 10 maybe 12
McD stops scoring in 3rd to stop the crybabies at STM from having a meltdown ..with a win by 13

Bad week for matchups.
MIAA is showing the haves and have nots in a big way,,

LB has gone soft. They look SWEET in there "Nike gear packs" they payed 500 bucks for. Hopefully the AD can steer the program in the right direction with the new "equal playing time idea".

StP -11
CH -7 (rumor has it that Severn has some stars returning to the field)
Gil -4 (Baddley leads offensive charge, defense holds up at the end)
BL -20 (Gilman beat JC by 18 with starters sitting the entire second half [also up 20-0 at half])
MCD -16

Yeah, we all know LB is just a bunch of sissies. Love to see them flex their new blue shiny helmets. Maybe focus less on the gear and more on winning in overtime.

Teams have their man down defense switch to a different scheme after x passes. Sometimes x may be never. Having the bench count it keeps all the players in sync.

Rumor has it that Severn is staying with the Senior goalie (Averaging 3 saves a game)!

Who the IAmInsecure refers to Spalding as SP? SP = St. Pauls and Severna Park. Also, your boys are getting trucked today.

Sorry that the joke is bulldozing teams like yours. Maybe get competitive, This is the MIAA not public school lacrosse. Best and most competitive league in country.

Well when you have 50 kids on the roster and only play 16 they’re bound to give up goals late in the game; the entire team is gassed. A lot of unhappy Dons riding the pine this year; there will be a mass exudos this summer.

The author of this post is a real good judge of talent......I guess the MSJ defense & goalie were still Swiss cheese vs. St. Paul's yesterday?? Wrong!!! The offense also had a terrific day. Great team win for the Gaels. The MIAA is still fun and competitive for non-boarding schools & non-cellar dwellers schools.

For sure. We only are surprised any more when they lose to an MIAA opponent. Championships are boring because you get the out of staters or the ultra woke school with considerably less out of staters-you pick.

Dear Annapolis Lacrosse,
Please play to win. Stop playing players with family ties. The politics surrounding Annapolis lacrosse are out of control. I never expected MSJ and JC to have a better MIAA record than Severn and STM.

Why doesn't BL get competitive and play all sports in A conference??? That goes for a few others in the A Lax conference as well.

Get used to the changing times. It has been a long while since MSJ was competitive. Things change over time. Do you remember when MCD was in the B conference-that was before the Brinks truck showed up. That truck may be pulling away, so things change. There was a BL pre-dorm as well. There was a time when fewer Annapolis area kids went to Spalding to play lax. The money drives kids around the beltway & from Annapolis to MCD etc...

Good luck with that fine sir. Better move to bay ridge if you want to play.
