FCA - don't know much about them - but second seems high DCE - they have some talent but have some gelling to do - third may be too high NL - they have some talent (new and old) but have a knack for under-performing - fourth may be too high Crabs - from what I hear they have loaded up on holdbacks and are huge, so fifth may be too low Team Money - total wild card - I assume they have the Philly players so don't take them lightly Madlax - they lost a lot, but they always reload and will probably have a zillion fly ins - don't take them lightly Team 91 - I heard they added some elite players including a good FOGO which has historically been their weakness - don't take them lightly either. hope this helps!

Maybe some MadLax 2029’s had to bump up. I’m sure they had to save face and put a team in.

Played Crabs in the fall. They’re better, but not that much better. NL and DCE are the real wild cards. Both could end up challenging the Hawks and FCA. Heard the 47 from Madlax is now on NL, which makes them very dangerous.

From what my kid has told me from the 8 grade hallways talk:
The strongest class is either Spalding or CH.
Spalding / CH BL SP or McD (depends on how many out of town kids they get to come) Loyola StM
Don’t know much about the rest. The best classes are at BL and CH by a considerable margin.

It would appear the rumors about the former DMV kids ascending to ML Cap to ride the pine (and save spots for the fly-ins) may be true.

Well, I'm hoping this poster expands even further and predicts AAA, AA, A, and B... And then follows up with a combined 28 Hoco power ranks with a few 29 elite teams sprinkled in for fun. Because ADDS entertainment and discussion, unlike your salty hypocritical drivel.

For you ML haters out there, the reason for the division change was that most of the DMV kids left for top caliber and true nova. Most of the new DMV kids seem to be pretty new to lacrosse I didn’t talk to the parents but I would guess that these boys are just trying to get ready for highschool ball next year. I’m pretty sure I know who is posting all of the anti ml stuff on this board and if I’m right you can take a big step back and your own face

ML DMV teams almost always collapse because the owner pays almost no attention to them. I know this thread only likes to focus on Elite, but a lot of kids just do it for fun or focus on other sports. There is more to the story of the ML 28 DMV imploding, however. Last summer, the 28 DMV team was in a championship B tournament and their goalie was invited to the Vail tournament as the back up goalie for the CAP team. All well and good, but the problem was that CM, who controls the 28 team, didn't tell the DMV parents or find a replacement....so they showed up to their tournament and had to forfeit. I'm not an ML parent (thank god), but several DMV parents told me they were very pissed off because they were trying to text him while he was in Vail (a tournament CM himself got kicked out of, mind you) to see what was going on and he didn't respond.
This is all factual. ML can try to spin it anyway they want, but I know 3 parents with kids on the old team.

Do your research before signing those contracts. If your kid was “recruited “ to a certain school but wasn’t promised a spot on varsity, little Johnny will most likely be on jv his freshman year and maybe even his sophomore year depending on who was promised spots on varsity. Some of these coaches already have rosters picked well before tryouts begin.

Why should a parent be worried about which kids parents negotiated a spot for them on varsity? If your kid is good enough to contribute on varsity they'll get their chance to play. If they aren't then they need the pt on JV to improve.

This is 100% true. And CM got kicked out of the final day in Vail for “putting his hands on a ref” and didn’t think to let his team or the parents know about this until he showed up the following morning between games. Clown of epic proportions.

As someone from DMV— I’m assuming the Hawks and FCA kids go to BL and CH? Those are the kids who will have an impact in MIAA I think Hawks are spread out between St Mary's, Broadneck, Severna Park, and Spalding more than anything. Any factual updates on who is going where and what schools landed the most talent? The deadline is March 1 so I imagine all the top talent has picked where they are going. The Hawks are spread out amongst multiple schools: St Marys Severn Spalding Gilman Broadneck Severna Park Boys Latin St John's DC Landon McDonogh

Some of these coaches already have rosters picked well before tryouts begin. What a joke. Nobody is looking at 99.9% of 14 year olds, without having seeing them play against 18-19 year olds, and making a legitimate promise about their varsity status. If you got a promise you thought was legitimate (and you're not a private school trustee or donor), you got taken. All it takes is one kid from TX who plays your son's position, to enroll over the summer, and poof, bye bye "promised varsity roster spot." How many of these promises do you think have been made and broken over the years? Compared to the ones that were kept. Coaches answer to the school's trustees and to a lesser extent to donors/boosters. Those guys have sons who are 2028s. They have leverage over the situation. Who's your kid and what leverage do you have to make the school keep that "promise?" My son has played with and against almost every MD Elite and AAA roster over the years (and most of the PA and DC rosters) and there's maybe 8 kids (all holdbacks, by the way) who would be difference makers in 9th grade at a real HS lax program (top 4 in DC or MD league), to the extent that anybody would promise them anything like a 4-year varsity roster spot. Where the above post is accurate is that yes, varsity rosters are 80% settled by the time tryouts start, but that's because of off-season workouts and promises to 11th and 12th grade parents, not "Oh yeah I made a promise to a dad with a patagonia vest, about his fast kid who is 14yo and 5'7"."

In fact, this may be the most competitive Elite HoCo we’ve had… there are 3-4 teams who could go 5-2….or 2-5. Should be a ton of great games. The Hawks-FCA and DCE-NL games week 1 are particularly compelling.

They, too, could go 4-0 or 0-4. FCA only playing Sunday— NL, Leading Edge, and the mighty Clippers. Early in the season but should get an idea where these teams stand. Great way to find out.
