My daughter plays for a different level. Great team ans she cares about the girls. Very happy compared to prior clubs. I will say, they all have pros and cons so go where you think is a best for. There isn’t one best team.

Looking for feedback on the YJ B teams, including thoughts on the coaches Duswalt (Suffolk) and Mills (Nassau)?

Jillian Rocks. Girls love her.

Issue is that she’s spread between a bunch of teams. They need to hire more coaches so their “top coaches” can be fully present for one or two teams

Duswalt is a great coach. He probably should of been the top coach and gets robbed of the more talented players.

It seems.ro be taking a long time for yellow jackets to realize that this whole Nassau and Suffolk team set up isn't working . Why not just have a tryout and make a true A and B team rather than split talent between Nassau and Suffolk . They will not have a dominant team as they have in the older years until they realize that this model ain't working . If someone wants to play on a top team they'll have to [Censored] it up and drive east to where YJ trains otheribe stuck in mediocrity

YJ already has an A team, it's called Friedman.

When you say "drive east" are you referring to Eastport-South Manor HS where Duswalt practices? No thanks. Plus, isn't Mills the better coach/team...they are ranked higher then Duswalt.

Maybe- By a narrow margin though. Last time mills/Friedman played, Mills was up 4-0 but wound up losing by 1 in a brave heart. Certainly no blowout.

The point is ....if you combine the best of the 3 teams and have a real tryout that starts with the best on an A team they will dominate . Until then they will not be the top team on long island or anyplace else for that matter

Was it a scrimmage? Trust me, Friedman would beat the two B teams 10 out of 10 times...fact!

Maybe it’s not a talent spread out issue, maybe it’s a coaching issue.
Mills two years ago was blown away by Friedman, some coaching changes and their now hanging with them.

That’s how it works- YJA gets first pick, the rest gets spread between Nassau and B depending on where they live.

I respectfully disagree. The Nassau team is filling a void - take businesses away from Liberty and Elevate, which had been on the decline for several years. The absolute top athletes are still driving out to Suffolk, but the great athletes are benefiting from shorter commute and more playing times at Nassau teams. Some of the Nassau teams in other age groups are very competitive. It's true that you may be losing a handle of kids that could have made to the A teams to the Nassau teams, but I think YJ could have lost those to other clubs to begin with...

My daughter plays for the YJ Nassau team and unfortunately she gets very little playing time which is unacceptable for a B team. We are moving on from the YJ program since winning is more important than player development at this age.

If he is "great" why do the "more talented" players leave? Great coaches attract players , how many have come back after getting coached somewhere else? As a B or C team coach shouldn't the focus be on development and not making excuses?

Spread too thin and her job is to manage recruitment for 91 girls. Her and the org do zero towards that. Parents are on their own. On a side note, just heard she got the head coach job at St. Joseph’s. Gonna be totally non-e intent now.

91 does nothing for girls for college. Nothing.

91 not making the playoffs in a B bracket at the Mid Atlantic ? What a joke.

They can’t hang in Maryland as usual.

Friedman went 4-0 in a much tougher bracket

The way Friedman played this weekend, they would have beaten any LI team. Give it another year or two and they will undoubtedly be the top dog.

Your bragging about a tourney you didn't even win?
91 can't hang with MD? They beat #1 ranked Heros.
Also won 4/5 tourneys while Friedman won zero.
Let's not forget YJ 0-7 vs 91 all time., but YJ top dog on LI.... okay

Related to the point above on the pros and cons of each club.

One of the most recent observations and stats relate to this summers U20 USA women’s lacrosse tryouts. These U20’s are rising HS seniors and rising college Freshmen and Sophmores. Of the 99 girls invited to tryout for USA lax, the club with the most girls are

LI Top Guns with 14 invitees
M&D with 7 invitees
LI YJ with 6
Monsters and CT Grizz with 5 each

Would even say that LI Top Guns seems to have something good going on with Player Development. Yes, I understand that some of the girls have been through at least a season of some college training but could help but notice the 14 LI Top Guns Invitees.

Would add a check and list Training in the affirmative as a Pro for Top Guns

Thanks to whoever posted about top guns because there are not a lot of posts about them for this age group. We are on a lower level team and trying out for the larger clubs. We have Jesters on Thursday and Friday, YJ on Sunday, legacy on Monday and Tuesday. We didn’t sign up for 91 because we don’t get back from vacation till tonight.
Looks like adding the top gun tryouts on Saturday will work out for us.
How are their coaches? How many girls do they have on the team? Where do they practice?

We are in a younger age group at another club, but most of age groups practice in West Babylon from parents have told us.. We went to the TG camp last week and it was really well organized. Also many of the USA lax girls were there.
As for coaching, do not know who coaches but for this age group they are ranked #9 in the country and play at the tier 1 tournaments against top teams.

Shoot your shot, if you are available, don’t see a downside in trying out for TG. pros and cons everywhere but seems like they have results evidenced based on the USA invitee list.

Please advise. My daughter has been playing for her club team for the past two seasons. It's a newer club and getting better but their ranking is in the 140s or 150s nationally. She's had a lot of fun with the club, developing great and a strong contributor to her team. She tried out for the best club around us (their A team is top 30) and was offered a spot on their B team (still ranked top 100). I'm not sure if she would keep her spot on her current club or join the B team for a club that will ultimately end. I was told that going into 7th grade, its hard to get new spots on teams because rosters are full. But these girls are 12 years old? Please help me!!!

Get her on the best team possible where she will get an opportunity to play. Avoid teams with large rosters and parent coaches.
