How about thank the official for the job he is doing rather than criticizing the way he’s doing it…..at least he’s out there and not on an anonymous message board

Ha. Agreed. The best thing I ever heard an official tell a set of parents who were riding him the whole game was “We are always looking for volunteers…”. That shut them up.

I'm all for supporting officials. I thank each and every one, if I see them after the game. BUT, it is not a volunteer position. They get paid. Maybe it is or isn't enough for the BS they put up with, but the market will determine that on its own.

A) No you don't thank them, you're lying. B) if they have to be paid market value, you better get ready to open that wallet and pay for sports, because the school taxes aren't going to cover it. C) If you've never done it, shhhhhhhh. It is a nightmare, because of people like you.

LOL. I have seen Chaminade(ie Garden City) kids cursing at parents before. I remember leaving the field thinking the same thing you are saying about those kids.

Language used that I would not repeat, solely screamed at Chaminade parents. This group has been doing this for 4 years now, it is truly sad. The lack of discipline that the coaching staff has showed over the years is gross, and has marred this great program. Set your players and kids up to be great examples of winning or losing with class...if possible. A sad example of where youth sports has been heading for the past 10 years. Maybe the school actually gets involved with this one. Maybe even the parents. I doubt it.

Try Winning its a great way to shut them up.

I am certain the stands were filled with a ton of college coaches crossing names off their lists. Sometimes winning really isn’t everything, boys. But your parents should have taught you that.

They cross names off their list for parents behavior on the side line as well.

Exactly the point. Win with class. Lose with class. Sports is a life lesson, right?

This has been going on for years with St. Anthony’s in both girl and boys games, on the field, in the stands. What’s sad is it’s a small group that paint a really bad picture.

Fact is college coaches DO see it and for most of them, they will count it against you.
Winning in OT makes it a very competitive game.
Do you really think the college coach will care which team you were on? They are watching you, not the team that won. Good luck in life!

I am sure the ref didn't mean volunteer as in "do it for free". He probably meant "volunteer": to get paid way below market value for a job where you get continually abused. Officials need a break from sideline warriors who don't contribute or grow the game and just criticize.

I have never seen anything like that. 5 continous minutes of complete cursing, middle fingers etc. Pictures are starting to circulate. I would be nervous if I was some of these 23's

Catholic schools used to be notorious for the discipline they demanded and the impending consequences and punishment they levied if not adhered to. Those days are long gone provided touchdowns, baskets or goals are produced.

It’s not all of them that tolerate what we all saw. Only one has sold out this badly and it’s nothing new.

Athletic Directors of these schools need to hold the coaches accountable for teams bad behavior and coach needs to hold players accountable. The school needs to reprimand spectators and parents through their school resources and hold them accountable. Bad sportsmanship win or lose should not be accepted.

Except for one starting middie, most of the St Anthony kids who were putting on this show never stepped on the field or entered the game…. Embarrassing for most of the team that played hard and won with class.
