Shame many of the MIAA schools don’t play the best kids, but rather those that have money, family legacy, kiss up to coach, etc. Let the best kids play. If someone beats out my kid, he will need to work harder. Are there any MIAA schools that have a true system in place that rewards kids based on their performance? Lacrosse in general is known for it's integrity and lack of any political BS across the board at all ages. Most fair and balanced I have seen at any youth sports with 0 coaching favoritism so it must just be an MIAA thing. Good call.

STM plays the same 6 guys on offense every possession. Not a recipe for making a playoff run. Their lack of depth will catch up to them.

10-4 I know understand your point…. you completely take back your original claim that MIAA teams don’t play a really good occ schedule but they do and they should have more than 4 teams ranked in the top 20. I agree & thanks for your clarification. I'm not walking anything back you put words in my mouth that I did not say. As for rankings, I'd say 3-4 in the top 25 sounds about right. But all of them are at least 5 spots higher than they should be in the IL than they should except for maybe St. Mary's.

Keep walking it back Guy is a regular D1 talent scout, jet setting from Taft to Hill School to IMG and everywhere inbetween to tell us about the REAL top 25. I'm pretty sure it's a Gonzaga or GP dad, if it was a SJ dad he wouldn't care what anybody else thought about the rest of the rankings.

It's really not hard to get a read on teams when everyone has livestreams. It's not the 1990s anymore. But I'd guess you lot would all need a reminder given you still seem to be living in the past where MIAA teams were king of the hill. Not for nothing but GP and the IAC as a whole are overrated this year. Gonzaga has some nice wins but that loss to SJC is ugly. St. John's is great this year, but kind of hollow given how much money was thrown at the program to turn them into an overnight winner.

Loyola will smoke SP by 5-6 goals at Hargaden. The Crusaders are in complete disarray after getting beat by the Admirals from Severn. They looked unathletic on defense and turned the ball over repeatedly on offense. Its going to be a long afternoon for SP on Chestnut Avenue.

BL vs Gilman - BL pulls away in second half. Severn vs McD - McD overpowers the Ads at home. JC vs Spalding - Dingers with easy dub at home. SP vs Loyola - StP shows they are in the top half of the league, and Loyola is not. CH vs MSJ - CH feels at home on the road.

Still probably the best Baltimore area poll since it appears the Sun has given up on lacrosse.

Both are likely state champions now that SP is 3A. But 7 and 10? MSJ would smoke both of those schools. BUt I get it - we have to pretend that the best publics are the same.

Both Broadneck and Severna Park will play St. Mary's and Severn in a AA County public/private event. The public school kids love the chance to match up against the local privates. Catonsville and MSJ play later this year as well. I'd give the edge to Catonsville in that one. Also, Catonsville moved down to 3A, so it seems we might see a rematch of the 4A state championship game, this time at 3A.

Really looking forward to these top 20 match ups between the public and private schools. It will put to rest the question of where the "drop off" is in the rankings for this year (Didn't Broadneck beat Spaulding the last time they played?).

Both SP and Broadneck have dropped off significantly… at least in their ability to compete with area private schools. Spalding has gotten significantly better while Severn remains what they have always been.

Great week of lax for opening up the miaa conference play. Who is for real and who are pretenders this year? Real deal - STM BL CH McDonogh Pretenders - The rest of the league STM share the ball on offense have a tough defense and great goalie play. Maybe the best all round team in the league. STM and CH was the game of the year so far. The only weakness I saw from STM was at the X until the 4th quarter when they made a switch to the #2 which I thought was the turning point in the game. Not sure what game you watched. SM was not that good, CHC D was just really bad. SM has good players and great coaching but they are not to an elite level. After week1, it is clear no team is at an elite level. Elite level? You do know that these teams are loaded with D1 talent and almost 100% of rosters are playing college. This is not youth club lax.

Your are only elite in Baltimore when you are 2 years old then everyone and take 30 shots a game from GLE. It does not work against better defense. SJC and STM shut it down.

So much for St Mary’s getting exposed. Nerd Exposed as being legit. The team that got exposed is Spalding. One good player isn’t going to be able to win you a championship. They were out coached and out hustled. Daddy MDLax’ kid can’t handle a long pole. BL, CH and STM will destroy that team. Party is over. Easy there Big Girl. Watch this week. Close lost to top team is a team builder. They make final 4 this year

What’s up with the Spalding JV team being picked up an hour late after their JC game yesterday. Bus driver shows up an hour late coming back from a bar. Drove back to Spalding hitting curbs and reckless. Confused why they allowed the boys to get on the bus.
