As a 2024 parent I’m curious how many college coaches are watching your games at tourneys this Fall. And are they still mostly D1 coaches or is it switching to D2 and D3 now at presidents cup? Just trying to get a feel for how this all works. Thanks in advance! There were a lot of coaches at 23 games but also a lot at 24 games. Top tier d1 are done and watching 24s. Mostly d2 d3 on 23 sidelines for our team at least. Some done some not, many will wait until after college season is over in order to see who enters the transfer portal and if they do not pick up any transfers they may take additional 23’s.

Didn't say there were no coaches watching our games. Just could have been a lot more both days if they played at the same place.

Definitely agree with this! Directors/Organizers should have had those two grade years in same venue! They need to make it easier for the college coaches to see games and better for the players to have opportunity to get seen.

Another 24 parent here.. What recruiting platform(s) should my daughter focus on. Other parents on our team have mixed opinions, just wanted to get the take from those here. FYI, She is on one of the better teams (not "top tier"). There seems to be new ones that pop up, but If someone can mention the few that coaches really seem to use as their hammerhead that would help us a great deal. Thank you all.

Talk to your clubs Recruiting Director. It’s most important to use her preferred platform since she’ll be the person talking to clubs on your behalf before September Plenty of good options none really better than another. Sports recruits most popular.

If not, try to find someone who can give an honest, informed assessment of your daughter's recruitability. This is a combination of skills, Lax IQ, size, speed and desire for financial help. Then target 20 or so schools. Starting writing to their coaches and plan to attend some of their camps in December and this summer. To be totally honest, it is more difficult if you don't have anyone advocating on your behalf before contact day, but it can still be done. One key difference for your daughter though is that her offers will likely be more linked to camp or showcase performance than her performance on her club team. Meaning -- you will need to spend a lot more time and $$ driving to camps;

All clubs have someone driving the ship recruitment wise, whether it be head coach, Director, or someone that only handles recruitment, if you are unsure, reach out to your clubs Director and they can help you, or tell you who is the point man with regards to recruiting in your organization. Most clubs don’t have a single recruiting Director whose sole purpose is recruitment, even top clubs like YJ and TG, the directors are heavily involved, these statements and putting down other clubs on LI anonymously with false info simply is not true.

They don’t sell players to schools. Kids have to reach out to schools interested and move forward if interested is treturned. Not complicated.

How is the recruiting process going now for those (the majority) that haven't committed anywhere yet? Are college coaches starting to make offers now that the big Fall showcases have wrapped up and/or are college coaches now asking players to come to their specific college ID camps this December/January?

Depends on how you define Top program. Many girls, especially from private schools, are only targeting top academic schools which is Duke, Stanford, Candy Hopkins, Ivy, Patriot league and a few others. Without knowing girls, its hard to say how many had top 20 offers. For instance our club just had a girl turn down offers from Syracuse and Florida to go to Davidson. Another turned down Penn State and Stony Brook to go to Lehigh. Remember not all girls are trying to get the best lax school, they are looking for the best school

Are college coaches starting to make offers now that the big Fall showcases have wrapped up and/or are college coaches now asking players to come to their specific college ID camps this December/January? There are still some girls with some outstanding offers who haven't decided and a few wanted to see first semester grades or test scores before offerings.. I expect another much smaller batch to go out around Christmas/New Years. As many have pointed out many top 20 programs have committed their scholarship spots so they will be looking but just for PWOs where all they guarantee is a roster spot for freshman year.

Remember not all girls are trying to get the best lax school, they are looking for the best school[/quote]
No way anyone turns down Penn State or SB for Lehigh. That’s actually funny! Also Florida for Davidson?? You definitely do not know what actually happened. Stop making up nonsense.
There are also no girls who have “outstanding offers” and have not decided. From hear on out, we will see girls commit to lower programs. A rare girl may still commit to a top 15, but not many

The schools they referenced are certainly academically superior. I am seeing more and more these days, players making decisions like this. If you are concerned with playing on a “decent” lax program you go penn State. If you want to better set your self up for the rest of your life through academics , you go Lehigh, no question. PSU is a huge state school with a 78% acceptance rate, you do not need lacrosse to get you in there. Florida definitely a closer call academically with Davidson as an example and also a bigger spread from a lacrosse standpoint. But It is sad to see parents who just don’t get it, and worse have their kids thinking the same way and are blinded to the future.

I know several recent PSU grads that immediately got great high paying jobs right out of college. I also know that SB is a top rated NYS school that offers extremely competitive majors and reasonable cost. In addition both of those schools have competitive lacrosse. Lehigh does not.

I love when people come on here making stuff up trying to justify why a school is better but their facts are wrong. Here are the facts: Florida 30% acceptance rate, top 30 school, top 20 lax StonyBrook 49% acceptance top 100 school top 20 lax Lehigh 50% acceptance, top 25-50 lax PSU 54% acceptance, top 20 lax Lehigh is not Princeton or Stanford. It’s not even comparable to Florida. It’s comparable to SB and PSU but with mediocre lax. Please stop!

You all realize that players chose their school for many different reasons & isn’t always about being on a top 10 team. The judging is ridiculous. Players can be offered a spot on a top 10 and offered a spot on a top 50 & can chose the top 50 school. It’s their choice!

Definitely agree, but the poster saying that Lehigh is a significantly better school than PSU and SB is talking out his lax. They compare in all areas exect lacrosse whereas Lehigh lags. Actually PSU has ranked business school and computer science majors, whereas Lehigh does not have any topped ranked majors. Still a great school, and maybe a girl got a better scholarship, or likes the small setting, but to say it "sets them up better for success" is funny and ridiculous

Some clubs don't have a recruiting director...what do we do in that case? If your daughter was any younger, I'd say find a new club. If not, try to find someone who can give an honest, informed assessment of your daughter's recruitability. This is a combination of skills, Lax IQ, size, speed and desire for financial help. Then target 20 or so schools. Starting writing to their coaches and plan to attend some of their camps in December and this summer. To be totally honest, it is more difficult if you don't have anyone advocating on your behalf before contact day, but it can still be done. One key difference for your daughter though is that her offers will likely be more linked to camp or showcase performance than her performance on her club team. Meaning -- you will need to spend a lot more time and $$ driving to camps; The teams without recruiting directors are empire,91, flg, blue devils, recon, icon, etc. There is no surprised that they have very few recruits go to top school considering they don't put money or time into the recruiting process for the girls. YJ, Jesters, TG, Legacy are the most invested in the girls. If you have time to go, go now. Only a handful of players ( 4-8 ) from any club will receive offers from Top College Programs. Listen- the college coaches watch players and look at film. At this stage in the game they don’t need another annoying phone call from an old man touting your daughters when they can see it all with their own eyes.
