Serious question to 91 parents of kids who sit bench. Why do you continue to be part of this train wreck? Why not play Kelly post , Koopers or breakers It can’t be for the coaching. I mean come on!! Half the team couldn’t even make their middle school team!!!!

Subject: GHCLC Spring Season - POSTPONED

Club Directors and Administrators,

We will be extending the GHCLC start date to AT LEAST the weekend of April 24th.

We're going to explore different avenues (i.e shortened season, multi-weekend tournament, etc.) as we work through this tough time. The league and it's Board of Directors will continue to discuss contingency plans. We also understand that many of our clubs/organizations fall under several different jurisdictions and must adhere to those regulations.

Please visit https://www.howardcountymd.gov/Departments/Recreation-and-Parks for more detailed information

Thank you for your patience during this time. As always, please reach out with any pressing questions.

Summer lacrosse is very iffy. Best case scenario might require a little creativity. I think tournaments are out. Perhaps a few scheduled games between local teams could work if new precautions were taken. Parents may watch from cars or distanced spaces. I think travel will be ruled out so if some fields are allowed to be used, it will be not until July and August at which time the events will have all been re-scheduled. A few local "play day" type formats are probably the best we can hope for.

HoCo officially cancelled. Based on Governor Hogan’s plan there probably won’t be any lax this summer either. See you in the fall.

Tru dat. Hogan will be in a race with NY/NJ to be the last state to unwind his ridiculous jack-booted proclamations. He has a huge issue with Ocean City and the gigantic hole of tax money being lost. I wouldn't be too sure about sports in this region at all until Spring 2021 given the way he's acted so far.

True Lacrosse does have teams and camps out west. It does look like they are accepting registrations for summer camp in Utah.

PLL just announced a no fans allowed tournament in late July. You can kiss the youth season goodbye. If they won’t put the Pros at risk until Then they won’t put our sons at risk either even if the data shows otherwise.

See you at August tryouts.

Does sound about right, Many schools in South and elsewhere start school in August. Looks like no tournaments this summer either. What a Bummer

True Annapolis has the talent that would have seen them rise to top 5 in the USA had the 2020 season not been cancelled.

The only similarity between the 2 teams is one is #1 in nation and the other is from Maryland ( and tx) as well

Ok I will play along; I am pretty sure all the elite level teams at 2026 (Looney's, 91, Crabs, FCA etc) start up this week.

Response - "I said Elite".

Hopefully there is so lacrosse. Probably local only. The fact that hawks and laxachusetts will not play each other for a 2nd consecutive year is beyond ludicrous. They will not get better playing slow motion, unathletic Long Island kids, or the leftover local riffraff. Maybe the two organizations can figure something out

They didn't lose to BBL. Beat them 9-5 in the Prime Time final in CT. Lost to Eclipse by 1 in a group game LXC dominated, then beat them 8-4 in Finals of tourney. Get your facts straight pal.

Hey fella, Laxachusetts was the last team, other than Edge, to beat the Hawks. And keep working on the grammar and spelling.

So the Hawks and Laxachusetts haven't played since 2018? My son played on a team that had beaten the 2026 Hawks team in the summer of 2018 too. He's on a different team now and played them again last year. That Hawks team is much better than they were in 2018. Hopefully Laxachusetts has improved as well if they plan on hanging.

I would agree that they need to play each other and probably would have seen each other a couple of times at NLF opening weekend and the NLF championship. But as Covid would have it, likely not to happen. Hawks are a great team and deserve all the praise they get. Would be a great game to watch for sure.

There are a lot of very good MD teams in this age division. Looneys probably should have been included in the top 20 along with Team 91 MD. Arden Diamondbacks were a top 10 team last year. Where did those players go?

The majority of the starting squad and second line middies moved to True Annapolis to form the core of the team. I believe one or two moved to Looneys. One or two made the Hawks. A number of the guys moved down a division or two to various other central MD teams like AYLA, Swarm, Rebels, PLC, etc.

The bunch that moved to True were basically the D-Back studs. As such True will be a real power when play resumes later this summer.

Jesus dude. If you want to just talk about True, just talk about True. The one or 2 True parents that come on here and act like someone else is asking a question just so they could talk about themselves is pathetic. we all see through you. Desperation is a stinky cologne..

True Lacrosse, bringing Multi Level Marketing Pyramid scheme style lax to the table. If we tell you your son is good enough, will you pay us more money to be on all these teams. But don't worry, we are telling you he is good. So keep paying us to go all over the place WE promise you he's good. You won the US club lacrosse championship, the last tournament played and US club lacrosse doesn't even respect you enough to put you in the top 25. Even they know the joke of it

The rankings are based on 2019 NLF Opening Event in early June and the NLF Chmpionships in July. If your team didn't play in at least one those tournaments then you are not on USCL radar.

They are correctly assuming that those are the top two youth/High School tournaments in the country.

Food for thought when you are deciding which Club to place your son on in the future if he is any good post puberty.

D1 coaches know that they can see a ton of good kids at these tournaments in the High School Grades as well as the NLF individual invite only events in the Fall.

Yes. D1 coaches are just salivating over these 6 grade kids. They know that the Hawks are loaded with D1 talent and they are closely monitoring these boys so they can hand out the scholarships! My son aspires to be like these kids and i as a parent aspire to be like Hawks parents.
Unfortunately for us, our son is only good enough for True, but he is working hard and HITTING THE WALL!!!!!

Great to see all the banter returning. Hope to see some lacrosse this summer, and in particular to see how good True is. I watched them play in the fall and they were NOT anywhere near elite; they looked like a middle of the pack AAA team. But obviously some parents on this board have a different view. If it were my own son's team I would wait until after they have proven themselves to commence the bragging but that's just me.

Wow, Couldnt even make True ! Thats not good

Easy there..Let me explain this,

What he means is MD and MA players who should be in 8th and 7th grade and hitting puberty at this time dont find on age prepuberty children in 6th grade one/two years younger that much of a challenge. Only a few on age 6th grade teams can compete at this time from LI.

Might have a point at this time, but in next few years things will change. Playing down sooner or later catches up to you.

COVID may right the ship and some of these club teams won't be around for much longer. I would imagine the remaining ones would like to try and get some of these kids. If the kids play this summer and a few teams opt out, I cannot imagine them being able to go on. These kids will land somewhere and play this summer.

Ahhhhhh yes, rather than talk about 11/12 year olds having fun playing lax - once again the holdback convo!! woo hoo. I think for the parents who keep on the bringing it up lets see if the conversation can be seen on every thread. C'mon you can do it!!! And no I am not the parent of a holdback. I am the parent of a rising 11th grader who plays on a travel team with MANY holdbacks and my son is young for his age BUT WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!! Move on already! Or keep complaining in everythread.

Better yet, Ill start a new one and post the first thread.

OMG, I was just on a date with this guy and we were talking about a second date and then all of sudden he says to me do u like lacrosse? And I like totally said yea and then he said what do you think about having a baby together? I was like we haven't even had a second date yet but I like where this is going. But then he said to me - you have to promise me you will do an 18 month pregnancy and like not the totally normal nine. And I was like why? And he was like so we can have a holdback in the womb bc it will like totally give him an advantage. when he is born he will like totally crawl faster than all the other kids and although he will be a newborn he will really be older and we will have a huge advantage in life. It will be awesome! It was like the weirdest conversation eva!!

Okay, in 4weeks they say, we can have games/tournaments. What is that going to look like? I am actually curious on what people think. Local teams divided in to brackets, will some teams travel down and play in the scheduled tournaments in MD and DE. And the obligatory...... something something something holdbacks

I do not see tournaments happening in Md, PA or DE this year; too much uncertainty still. I think it will be practices only with the hope of fall sports being able to be played.

I can’t believe it, but I think there will be local tourneys with local teams. I anticipate them starting mid to late July and into August. Especially if your team hasn’t offered a refund.

The majority of the “studs” in 6th grade lacrosse end up as average high school players, or quit the sport. This includes daddy coaches kids, because well, most weren’t good enough to begin with and thats why daddy became the coach.

Save your energy. It is nose picking 6th grade lacrosse. The pandemic is giving you the chance to find something else in life to get really angry about, since lacrosse isn’t happening this year. Go find it.

It depends on how much Daddy Coach is willing to forsake whole team to get his son ahead. Look no further than
" give it to the 9th grader" Coach.

Holding back , Daddy Coach all seem to work to some degree at other players expense. I dont like it, but MIAA is loaded with Daddy Coach players and Holdback/prefirst players. It is what it is as they say !

My son is now in HS and I agree the kids that were 6th grade studs are still the best players in HS. The infamous "9th" grader is still a great player in HS and the daddy coach's kids can play. Like it or not that is the truth.

Ahhhh, there it is, the holdback reference for the day. I cant believe it took so long.

Look no further than

which teams in miaa have holdback & daddy coach?

Come on...Holdbacks...all of them and not just a few teams. BL, McD, Gil, Loyo, etc. etc....And they are loaded with them. Well many teams have prefirts which for some reason is not considered a holdback?lol.. No idea why as child was heldback in Kindergartner ..Maybe doesnt count before first garde? LOL

And it was referencing Daddy Coached in youth ..so there are many players now that were coached in youth by their Daddy. The most famous at this time on this forum is " give it to 9th grader" Coach . MIAA has had many Daddy Coached holdback sons in MIAA over time, at this time, I am not sure there are any left as last one just graduated I believe.

I am hearing there are some Elite Club Team playing in Lax Splash this year due to the uncertainty of other tournaments being played; FCA, P!, Crabs and Looney's I am hearing. Any word on what the Hawks are doing this summer?

The original shutdown was never to stop the virus, just slow it down " flatten the curve" until we could be better prepared. Well that is exactly what everyone did. It was never intended to stop it completely from spreading, that is impossible short of everyone staying in their house until a vaccine is here and available to everyone, which wont be here until next year supposedly. If that happens, I will be divorced, kidless, broke and in jail !

Of course like all things, certain segments want us to stay at home for their reasons others dont. Common sense solutions are out the window.

I guess there was a big change of heart. NLF decided to host youth teams at the event at Kirkwood, DE, July 20-22nd at the 2026, 2025 and 2024 age groups. Laxachusetts bringing the 2026 Black team (along with 2025 and 2024). Hearing all the big clubs will be there. Let’s the boys play some lax! Should be some fun.

Looks like no face offs. Goalie pulls the ball from the goal and has to clear. Better practice your clears.

Quick question, what type faceoffs will we have this year. Same as last year, motorcycle grip OR the new version where you can't kneel and grip one hand up and one down? Or will there be no Door_Open_And/O and goalie just clears the ball?

It'll be like the super young age groups where once a team gets down 5 goals they are given a free clear past mid-field or the goalie will be given the ball and the losing team will have possession but must beat the ride.

Has anyone heard details including financials on Mesa joining with Severna Park MD Green Hornets? The history of non-profit and profit clubs joining together seems to not go well (API-Arden...). The fact that all of this is happening behind the scenes without any communication with the community from Green Hornets is concerning.

Depends on whether Crabs have upgraded with new players or re-classed 2025 since last summer. If it is the same Crabs team I saw at Young Guns a year ago they will have a long day.

Reclassing kids that can actually play may help. Taking 25's that couldn't play on 25 is digging through the dumpster. The old crabs way is over.......Mark it

Blc beat all of them

Realization is sinking in that there are only so many kids who can reclass (ones with talent, not just size) and the talent in Baltimore county has moved on to other programs because they were around at the lower age groups a few years before Crabs had younger teams. Just recycling the same players through different teams at this point.

Any team talking about tryouts? Will there be any this year or is everyone running back the current teams?

How are the 2026's looking in the area? There has been some scrimmages and games. Any assessments from Baltimore or Anne Arundel County?

I heard Looneys lost to FCA the other day 5 or 6 to 1. I think Looney’s is scrimmaging 91 next week as well. I think most teams are still rusty from lack of playing time.

FCA was legit. Those boys hit their growth spurts early. Impressive defense. (Not an FCA parent)

Hit their growth spurts of more than likely HOLDBACKS!! Yes I went there!! The one defenseman is at least 6 foot and runs like a cheetah and hits like a rhino. They have at least 3 midfielders that are close to 6 foot with the athleticism of freshman in HS. This team loaded with holdbacks; prove me wrong! It’s the CH blueprint!!

Very disappointed by the Crabs showing yesterday but I will say this team will continue to improve they just need to add a few more pieces on the offensive side of the ball.

Defense is definitely legit; #2 was a beast but the offense has much improved. Big middie can’t remember his number was a force. They’re not at the level of hawks or 91 or maybe BLC but they’re better.
I’ll take FCA over 91.

Hawks - have they played anything yet this year?
BLC
91
FCA
Crabs
Looneys

Who else would be playing in the Elite Division?

No way! 91 has way too much talent overall and on attack for anyone but maybe the hawks that could compete with them. On another note the FO/Mid for crabs and the big attack kid are very good. Puberty is definitely kicking in early with some of these boys.

My original post I was unable to edit but I meant to say the tall kid runs like a cheetah and the other big kid hits like a rhino; that’s the #2 kid on FCA is a beast. I’ll stand by my original post and say at least 5-6 kids are holdbacks on this team; they are a completely different team then what we saw this time last year in the championship game. This is what is ruining youth lacrosse and needs to be addressed. This is what is pathetic about youth sports today!!!!

I think Next Level was a team being considered but I know they went 0-4 yesterday. Not sure if the entire team was there or not but didn’t look impressive.

Not enough data yet, but from what I saw in the fall, and scores I have heard in the first week of summer play, three of the teams mentioned are on very thin ice to be considered Elite. Those would be Crabs, Looneys, and NextLevel. There are some teams not mentioned, especially the one on which my son plays, that I think will show they deserve consideration once more summer lacrosse is played. We shall see. I just pray that all the games currently scheduled actually happen.

Has Madlax played any games this summer? Haven't heard a word about them?

Regardless, hard to get worked up about any game results. Kids haven't played much and, with vacations, teams are pulling kids from everywhere to field a full squad.

Or maybe it's covid related. Teams at every level have been dropping out last minute since summer season began. With everything else to worry about, its good to know the Hawks are still classy. Get a grip.

NOT COVID related

Time to move on. As much as I agree with you, The holdbacks/prefirsts won. 7th and 8th grade are the worst when it comes to holdbacks/prefirst and frankly gives them the most advantage. Many are good players and with puberty kicking in earlier than others, turns some Holdbacks/prefirst(not all) into superstars. They come back to earth with puberty kicking in for others and of course the new reclassed 8th graders, but they are still good ( with more reps and being starters) and older and continue their advantage thru High School.

My advice..Reclass your child if you want to compete. Most private school kids are prefirst ( somehow they dont think that is a holdback?LOL) or heldback by now. Go for it, you will regret later not reclassing him if your child is a good player.

I completely agree with this breakdown; there have been a handful of games from teams that have barely had anytime to gel. Looney's and crabs seem to be treading water as elite teams but these clubs are bound to bounce back with reclassification becoming more prevalent right before the HS years. I also agree there needs to be more discussion on this board outside the Elite category; there is good lacrosse being played at AAA and AA for sure.

There has been plenty of discussion today about a AA team

True has some good players and some enthusiastic parents, but is not an Elite team by any stretch. But MadLax is the more interesting omission from the projected list of Elite teams that somebody posted recently. They did not play Hershey this weekend, but the ML 2027 and 2028 teams both were there. And I assume that MadLax 2026 is playing its own tournament in Poolesville this coming weekend, but it is not yet on Tourney app, so it is unclear whether there will be good competition.

Does anybody know how that team is looking, or when we will find out?

Great question; I have heard nothing about MADLAX this entire summer. Many clubs are obviously struggling with COVID and what they should be doping moving forward. At this point we shoudl feel forunate the kids are playing and hopefully having some fun.

I kind of like the 'work harder' mentality over the reclass and make things easier one but hey that's just me.

It will be their excuse all summer. Kind of like 91’s excuse of it being too windy.

Crabs should move out of elite and let another team in.
Performance should equal level of play.
Time to move on and find another competitive club.
Move Roughriders or Bay Raiders up.
Those teams are well coached and play classy.

I concur. Both of those teams play top level in summer tourneys. Let them play with the big boys in the Spring too. They can handle it. They may need to add some holdbacks to their rosters to win, but both teams are worthy.

I would agree as well. Both of these teams competed against what is being considered elite teams in Crabs and FCA and played them both well. Looney's, Crabs and Next Level should be playing AAA; Roughriders and Bay Raiders would give better competition to the elite level teams.
