this might be true, but she is going to create a lot of animosity with other club coaches in the area. again, landsharks, hurricanes and westchester are really well established programs in the lower hudson valley region with solid college connections and recruting processes. I highly doubt that those coaches are going to take kindly to a "franchise" team showing up because they want to cash more checks and expand their brand.

I guess we will see though. does anyone know what the numbers were like at the YJ north tryouts? that is probably the best indicator for how this is being received.

"Thanks for showing your true colors (yellow and blue). I am embarrassed for you. [/quote]"

What colors did you expect when you are posting on the YJ thread, and what kind of reaction do you expect when you keep going after Carol Rose on the YJ thread.Curious do you think Ms.Smith or should I say B.S. will not create more teams if and when more kids show up at tryouts.

Ah, didnt the post say she was brilliant? Hardly going after her. This is good for her but is it good for our kids?

We'll have to wait and see this summer which comment is more accurate. Keep in mind, that there has already been a lot of grumbling on the sidelines of the 6th and 5th grade practices about kids that are there for the wrong reason.

Too funny ,a lot of grumbling. Go talk to the coach of the 5 th grade top team. She is thrilled with the level of talent on that team from top to bottom and politics seems to have played no role at all.Agreed 6 th grade group seems like some towns are unfairly represented and they have way too many kids .If you are thinking that the lower level team is going to beat the top team this summer you ate really sad, not going to happen but good luck to your team, you will need it.

What do you expect her to say? Of course she will say that, any good coach would. The fact remains that it is obvious to all, who should not be on team. You are right when you say talent dropoff is steep on remainig teams, picture yourself in those parents shoes. Not pretty. Going to create a lot of anomosity with the clubs in the area?
She creates a tremendous amount of anomisity with the clubs right here on LI so why would it be any different? Evidently it is okay for her to cash in on all the lax flunkies but she gets rip roaring mad at any and everyone else who tries to get in on the action. All the other club directors have a much more mature and welcoming attitude, and most of the YJ parents have the same bad attitude to any and all other clubs that dare exist. No wonder you travel so far out of state to "play with yourself"

YJ's were one of the first teams on the Island - whereas, they are jumping in the game awfully late in the hudson valley. my guess is that most coaches in westchester and CT didn't recommend the YJ's to their players. there was a coaching shake up before the team even got off the ground. plus, although the top yj's teams are excellent, the rest of the squads are no better than all of the other smaller programs out there. i doubt other teams will be nervous if they see YJ North on their schedules this summer.

CR is brilliant. If there wasnt a need for a mcdonalds in every town there wouldnt be one. It's a great club, with a strong name that everyone wants to be a part of. One down side is when you said you plyed for yj in the past it really really meant something. Future will tell if it gets too watered down

IF???

So you think 4 and 5 teams per age is too watered down already?

I don't know what you've been looking at , but YES is the answer. Many of the better town teams would be able to beat some of the #2 teams and most, if not all the 3,4 & 5 teams fairly easily.

This is getting to be only slightly better than a walk on school team

Wasn't CT Lightning part of the YJ empire? Is this just a rebranding of that effort?

T-dub runs the CT Lightning or at least she did. Not sure if there is an official connection to YJ though.

lax clash in ct and the mitchell field tournament are pretty much carbon copies of each other - same teams, same format and run by the same people

It’s the Friends and Family plan, get used to it. Just look at the weakest line of each team and you can see which kids don’t belong. Then you match them up to who is a friend or who is family. If it bothers you that much, say something to the parents or the coach, because posting your complaints here in an anonymous chat room is a waste of your time and everybody else’s time. Lets’ move on, because I just wasted 2 min of my time on this stupid topic.

Why would you say something to the kid's parents? Other than being an absolute jerk, what is it you would be looking to accomplish?

I had a team attend a tournament this fall. We were just made up off some local kids in three school districts in my area looking to play. The kids paid the tournament fee and about 18 bucks for a pinnie. We registered for the "B" bracket in our age group. The girls contacted some D3 coaches about our schedule and parents shot game film on their iPads. Everyone had fun.

Anyway, we played a yellow jackets team. On the sideline for the yellow jackets was a man doing the subbing. I asked him how his team was doing on the day, as I assumed he was a yellow jackets coach. He said that he was just a parent and that no coach from the yellow jackets was going to be helping him much. He said they had too many teams at the event and that this team was not good enough to have a coach there.

My team beat this yellow jackets team by 3. My girls paid under 100 per player for the event. Not sure what those players for yellow jackets paid but it was most likely more than $100.

My point is that if a girl plays for the top yellow jackets teams it is totally worth it. If they don't play on the top squads in each age group, the player would be better served to go with a smaller travel team. No coach on the sideline does not seem right to me - assuming the parent was not just being sarcastic. At least on the smaller teams the girls all get attention from the coaches. Also, if you don't play on a top YJ team you aren't getting looked at by best college programs anyway. You don't need a YJ jersey to play college lacrosse.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

You don't have complete teams in fall ball. Looking to start trouble. Go play with your town team.

Check the YJ website, there are still spots available - if you can pay you can play!

Yeah it seems the other way around, I know many girls that did not make the TG teams they wanted, then go on to play for a lower level yj team. It is a consideration for any and all girls who didn't make desired team, some move on hoping for greener pastures, some stay and play. The late tryouts seems to be a better player getter model for yj because if you still don't make the yj team you were hoping for, most players take a lower team offer because the train has left and there is nowhere else to go.

wow, obnoxious. If I'm not mistaken you lost last year.

Yes obnoxious , the same way saying everyone makes YJ is obnoxious or if you are willing to pay you play.Just shows that all travel clubs have some obnoxious parents.

CR is brilliant. If there wasnt a need for a mcdonalds in every town there wouldnt be one. It's a great club, with a strong name that everyone wants to be a part of. One down side is when you said you plyed for yj in the past it really really meant something. Future will tell if it gets too watered down

IF???
CR is brilliant. Who else can get away with charging $125 per kid for a tournament that costs $700 per team? One team has 23 kids on the roster, that’s $2,875 in registration fees. That’s a $2,175 profit for that one team. There are 7 teams registered for the Shamrock Shootout with an average of 21 kids on the roster. That averages out to a $1,925 profit per team and a $13,475 weekend for CR.

What’s crazy is that this is a makeup for a tournament that was cancelled last fall. The parents weren’t even given a choice to participate or not. Instead of offering a refund from the cancelled tournament, you’re forced to play in the Shamrock Shootout or eat your 125 bucks. Sounds like a scam to me.
