The anti-helmet crowd should be happy - at least one of the teams that started the season with mandatory helmets has punted already. The girls hated them and the coached blamed them for a slow start.

How can u losers get so low! As a mom of a varsity daughter I am grateful for all of the support that JL gives this community. All u haters that live through your kids wouldn't no talent if it smacked u against the face with a lax stick. His daughter deserves the opportunity she's a tremendous athlete! Also, While all of your daughters are hanging out doing what west islip entitled kids do.. you'll find his daughter with a stick in her hand. Have some decency people. Last time I checked in west islip best girl plays that has shown true for many years.. you people are embarrassing!

Farmingdale surprising season for a team that is always hyped

Oceanside deserve to be up
South Side also fighting to go up
Lynbrook steady again
Locust Valley surprising
Seaford always have some good players
Oyster Bay over performing
Calhoun about where they belong
Plainedge continue to fall used to hang with the big teams
MacArthur not much there this year
Carle Place don't belong

GC looks very strong and should win the B's
CSH is solid but not a powerhouse. They play a tough OC schedule
Wantagh is average at best now, lost so much. barely hanging on against lesser teams and tough OC coming up
Long Beach is a good team and improved. Could make B finals against GC
NS a solid team should be in the mix in C's
PW is a decent team but I do not think they will make A finals this year
Manhasset should never be overlooked, they will get it together
Massapequa is young and a better team than their record. Lost 3 one goal games. They could win A's
Syosset is starting to play better and I think will be in A finals
Farmingdale seems to get worse every year

In the second tier I see Oceanside making some noise in the A's, South Side, Lynbrook and Seaford are only teams left that could surprise some people

ESM loses to Bishop Ireton, a great program but not their best team in recent years. That was the only "tough" game on the schedule until a potential match-up with GC who plays a very demanding schedule. Cannot just show-up and expect to win a tough game without being tested. ESM should consider perhaps a few more potential losses during the season to see if they can prepare better to win the title. Blowouts on a regular basis will not get the team ready.

The Teams that play smart lacrosse and play a team game will win championships. Coaches who allow selfish play will almost always pay for it in the end.

Teams that win championships will have:

Solid Team Defense.
Well coordinated and agressive re-defending.
Competitive team draw control.
Limited unforced turnovers (especially while clearing and including foolish selfish shots).
Smart unselfish offense.

Obviously a team needs to have talented athletic players but in order to win a championship there must be strong leadership and coaching.

Me first run to the goal and shoot attitude will almost always result in a turnover (easy save, checked stick, charge, pipe etc...) when the team can least afford it.

Coaches who tolerate selfish, me first, run to the goal attitude (especially vs lesser competition) will not win in the playoffs. Stat padders rarely if ever help their team in big games.

So a team game wins and teams that don't spread the ball don't go very far. When will programs stop being hijacked by these type of players and parents? The teams going in the wrong direction continue to cater to just a few. You need to build a better culture starting in PAL like Sett and GC instead of lots of towns that have been saying since kindergarten get the ball to Shannon and get out of the way!

We are in HS now and Shannon is getting shut down and our team keeps losing. But most Shannons are committed to a D1 school and that's all that anyone cares about

why is Carle place in this division? lacrosse is more like an after school activity there. much better of in a lower division.

Does anyone know the playoff bracket format for Nassau County? There are 5 conferences I to V. How many make it from each conference, and which brackets play each other in the playoffs?

Each conference has a mix of class A, B, C & D schools. The power conference (Conference 1) is the top teams independent of what class they fall under (A, B, C & D) and I believe each conference gets weaker (lower pre-season seeding criteria) as you go down. When the playoffs start the teams all go back to their respective class. Playoffs are not by conference. All the power conference teams get in no matter what and the remaining teams are picked from the other conferences depending on win/loss records and probably pre-season seedings.

In the playoffs, you might see a power conference team with a losing record being seeded higher than a conference 5 team with an unblemished record. On paper this does not look right but in most if not all cases the power conference team will win

Nothing to do with the coaches. The team is lacking talent.

The best teams are balanced. If you look at the Newsday stats of the top 25 scorers, CSH has #10, GC has #18, Wantagh has zero, Long Beach has #17 North Shore has zero. All the kids on the list are from schools with 1 player. Those teams are 1 and done come playoff time and the Shannon on those teams are shut down by some good playoff defense. When oh when will coaches learn. US Lax should go to small sided games to get more girls involved in the game. Youth lacrosse is still get the ball to Shannon and get out of the way.
