No politics involved HERE. Unless you are HEARing about the politics.

the only politics involved is that Sweetlax basically runs the whole thing. Seamed like all the college kids that were coaches played for sweetlax at some point.

I am friendly with one of the coaches from Showtime. He felt that the Turtles are decent players for the most part, but well over hyped, and not any different than the majority of the other players at the camp.

i have a friend at the worldcup, says Germany has decent players, over hyped.

Can anyone report college coaches in attendance for this weekend's so called showcase tournaments?
The Jersey Shootout had almost no college coaches in attendance ... Down sharply from last year

Exactly. And the amount of sweetlax players at the event for 2017 was huge.

What does that have to do with poor Turtle boys? Stop crying and blaming, others out there as good or better! It is well known that Paul Caracatara runs Showtime. He is a class act, as is Sweetlax who are both Syracuse feeders. Sweetlax recuits players off Showtime and is known for having very good teams. Ty Xanders also evaluates the kids and you may have noticed a few deserving Turtles were included and some left out. What exactly is your point?

Ty Xanders??? The kid who has zero credibility? Did he play golf or tennis in HS? What qualifies that "Lax wannabe Bro" an "expert" amazes many.

Point is they missed on many (not just Turtles) in regards to the all star teams. And Sweetlax players had "much support" behind closed doors. Not a knock on Sweetlax they have good teams and very good players. As far as "poor turtle boys" take a look at how many are committed and the list of those schools. They are doing pretty good!! lol

Guys, not coming from an LI person but a MD person. It sounded to us down here like Showtime was more a LI/NY/New England showcase than the best from all over. Nothing wrong with keeping the locals happy. We all know that if you are going to do an All Star team with the best players, you'd have to start with the entire starting 10 from the Turtles. They are the best team with the best players. Down here in MD, the Ty Xanders write ups are written before he goes to the tournament...Crabs and other guys tell him who to write up and he does it. All Star game rosters are done in the parking lot before the games are played. Quite honestly the only honest showcase is the new one, Adrenaline Black Card. For some reason Adrenaline / WCS just have not been corrupted yet and stick to doing good honest events. Maybe they benefit from living as far away as possible from the east coast crap in this sport.

Ty Xanders is the perfect guy for the job. Baltimore lacrosse country club does not want him off thinking on his own. We went to St. Pauls. So any kid from St. Pauls is going to get pumped. He is basically an adopted lacrosse son of the Crabs owner who put him at Inside Lacrosse when he dropped out of college. Crabs is all about MIAA schools, especially BL, so those teams and the players on them will get pumped. Don't get me wrong, I think MIAA and Crabs, etc. have great players but it would be nice to take the taint out of this hype. At least when Ty writes up a LI kid it has more to do with whether he can play.

Plenty of non Turtles and sweetlax on the All Star Team. Il writes what they see during the game. Can't argue with what happens on the field. I saw a few Team 91 Players , a solid bunch from Leading Edge lacrosse (NJ) and a couple from True Blue.

Most of the Boys written up in the Showtime All Star recap from Ty aren't Turtles or Sweetlax Players. These are new Players to me who I didn't see play yet. Explain that????

IL writes what they see? Are you kidding? The club coaches have to pump the kids they want placed. Sometimes that is because they are good players. Sometimes that is because the kid's family shelled out a fortune to go to every stupid thing the club could think of billing, including recruiting services.

Plenty of no name players from small club teams mentioned. Everybody always has an agenda? Not all the time. maybe some kids just don't step up. Several Players mention in Showtime do not fit your description.

The talent level doesn't stop at Player 42. We will always have borderline situations on both sides. After 3 solid days the College Coach has seen what they needed to see.

And you are close to these two kids to know that?
Don't need to be close to either goalie to understand what was said, if a college coach goes to a game and sees a goalie make 3 saves in his half of play because his team had control of the ball most of the time, do you think the coach is going to say WOW he had 3 saves.

No. He will go to a Manhasset or St. Anthonys game and watch them there. Or perhaps speak with either of their coaches or perhaps see them at individual showcases or perhaps see them up close at a prospect camp at a school of their liking...just saying.

After watching the world championships and listening to coaches on recruiting I have come to the conclusion that we Long Island parents or geniuses and they are all morons. Thats right morons. They all place a high value on multi-sport athletes and are against any player playing a sport all year long. They have repeatedly talked about how the different team sports help lacrosse players reach their potential. The NC goalie coach was on the FAN Sunday morning talking about recruiting and he discussed multi sport athletes, game IQ, the ability to learn, potential they see from other sports, speed, good strong hands, the ability to work within a team BUT not once did he mention stick skills. In fact he said they could be taught and used the Duke program as an example. But as I said IDIOTS all of them. We know better here on Long Island. Interestingly enough the coach was against this early recruiting and said in five years he believes the results will not pan out in a positive way. But, once again what do all these commentators, former players, current players and coaches know?

Help a not very in the loop parent...is that just bantor or do coaches really dig in on whether the parents are lunatics? I keep hearing it matters, and we have plenty of crazy parents. In a couple instances kids committed and did well, ACC school and another, and I could not help but think wow, that coach really got himself into a bad spot with these parents. I suppose it is easy at NCAA level to just ignore parents or get rid of pain in neck kids/families once they are in the program. The question is, are there examples of a kid not getting recruited because his parents are nuts?

What a great response to obviously a sarcastic post. This goes to show the original poster is onto something. We are all genius here on Long Island smile. To that end dos anyone talk to the high school coach? I haven't said a word to the guy besides hello coach in two years. Nice enough guy but my son as all of ours should be doing the talking at this point. The only thing I agree with is we are all lunatics.

No. It is a fun tournament with some good teams and mostly average ones (especially since it's out west this year).

College coaches do not fly to this tournament.

Doubtful. The field for that tournament (as usual) is lousy. Unless they live out there, they will be flying home. Most of them will be going to the Terps Young Guns tournament which has several excellent 2017 teams.

Actually, there is a big split this weekend and most won't be consolidated anywhere. Terps Young Guns, IL Lacrosse tournament and fl$ in 3d in no particular order. Last year the fl$ had a huge turnout of coaches. This year there are two competing tournaments with decent teams in them. The lists of pre-registered attending coaches is pretty large for Terps and fl$. Not sure about IL, but am sure IL will do a good job selling it to get attendance. We will see.

The 2017 teams for IL's tournament are terrible. Madlax and Breakers are the only 2 decent teams out of 5. Whoever heard of a tournament of 5 teams. But more importantly, the IL tournament doesn't start until Monday, so it's not in the mix.

fl$ in 3D has a lot of teams, but no top tier ones.

Coaches looking for quantity over quality will go to fl$ in 3D. Coaches focused on quality will go to Young Guns to see Crabs, Dukes, VLC, etc.

Why are they not playing with their Smithtown team at Hotbeds? Guess their too good for that, or maybe afraid they won't stand out when playing other varsity players

This just in. At the Terps Young Guns tournament, the Crabs 2017 team is using a 2016 player who committed to Syracuse. That's right - it's a 2017 division and the Crabs brought a 2016 kid. Amazing.
