6 hours in a car with my 15 year old - priceless

The last tourney is 11/16. There will be no results before then.

This way no one has to deal with parents complaining that weekend that their daughter did not make the blue. I think that's especially the case for 2020. If the blue coach goes strictly by talent, there should be 6 or 7 girls from the gold that should be on that team. But, as we know, it's not all about talent.

That second team really does have some fine lacrosse players though. We owe them that much at least.

Lets be perfectly honest 150 girls, all the girls returning from last year were graded and placed prior to the tryout. In a 2 hour tryout the only girls getting evaluated are the new girls. Some coaches are looking for stick skills ? I would think ALL coaches are looking for stick skills what good are size and speed if you don't have stick skills.

Cause I'll take the tall and fast girls over the girls that pass, catch, and don't drop the ball every time!! Lol!!

To qoute an inside lacrosse article not verbatum but close "some of these athletic kids are playing checkers to a kid that may be a half step slower but playing chess". Seems to be what you are trying to imply. Truth be told you can no longer get away with hiding FAF because other teams have gotten stronger. TG at the younger age improved a whole lot with new additions plus the kid who may be one of top kids in country. "Good for her and long island". Point being if you do not improve your team the all star express outcome will become the norm. Before you say you won at nat draw you lost also to a team that all that happened to them was weaker kids did not play and maybe some better kids played more. Not sure on the latter part but probably what happened. Hope you figure it out. Good luck to you.......

Top 16 team beating Skywalkers, M and D and Top Guns in front of a slew of coaches!! Teams looked better the second day. Way to go YJ

You all need to get a clue, maybe the coach understands that you cannot teach size and speed but you can teach and develop stick skills much easier. You TG people really are sad , you won a game against some 10 year olds at a showcase tournament by a goal or two, congrats. Yj went on to beat a team at a national championship event that had just put a beating on your team, congrats. That same YJ team went on to loose to another YJ team in the finals, congrats to them. A week later the losing YJ team beat the winning YJ team in a very lopsided game, congrats to them.What does it all mean , it means they are 10 year olds who can play great one game then throw out a complete stinker the next , who cares.Every time a TG team at any age beats a YJ team in any event you losers are on here boasting about it, act like you expected to win and keep your mouths shut.

You can't teach heart either

Tiebreaker always goes to the taller faster kids playing at the big clubs. Much easier for a college coach to defend in case they are wrong in their judge of talent. Smaller girl playing at a no name club with crazy heart or a 5ft 8 girl with a pony tail playing for the YJ blue but the heart is questionable. Most coaches go for the safe pick

Size and speed mean nothing if you are playing checkers, fool. I guess the logic in the quote went right over your head too. You cannot teach insight. Ie knowing where the play is developing. You can't be that dumb.

You can teach someone to play checkers you moron. People like you are pathetic , ask any college coach and they will tell you they are looking for fast aggressive kids the bigger the better. You all act as if the bigger faster kids are a bunch of unskilled players. Watch as the top club tes compared to their lower level teams and you will see the better teams are on average bigger and faster. Always funny the parents of the little slow kids try to pump their child up w something no one can quantify.

My non-lacrosse daughter was little but quick with tons of heart and I found that coaches do look for size first. All things being equal, coaches go for size. After the teams are formed, things can change up if the bigger player doesn't cut it in one way or another, but size does matter initially.

You are pathetic, look at the roster and see a mix of styles , do you spew nonsense things like this do to your high moral character. Get over yourself, when you say someone has a lack of character is that not the same as calling someone names except you try to act above it .Simply stated all things being equal coaches will take the bigger kid , although rarely are all other things equal.

to all of you with so much to say about the size shape and heart of these young ladies playing a sport they truley love let me share this with you these young ladies are some ones sister someones daughter someones grand daughter and your words to hurt if these girls want it bad enough it will happen for them we are very luck that there are so many ooptions and there truley is a place for everyone. I am blessed with girls that fit all of the categories and love to watch them play and know that they will find there spot. Just cant see making my daughters better by putting someones elses daughter down.

College coaches recruiting players three years away from enrolling are not looking at specifics; they can't. Size, skill, athletic brains and academic brains will change in those three years. Grades do not matter and most haven't taken standardized tests (or have and need to take them again). Take a picture of your sophomore player and again when she is a senior. If she is training there is a huge difference. A coach may look at any clubs top teams for this reason--commitment to the sport. Don't hammer me on this; I know every level is committed. Still, the college coach will seek where she/he has been successful before.


Dominant, impact freshman exist but are not the norm. Most of these girls, rightfully so, will watch a lot of games from the sideline. Remember, the girls recruited before them were just as good.

It's not an easy task for college coaches. They have to make choices long before these girls will be their athletes. Don'e envy them.

Although I applaud and congratulate these younger girls committing before their junior year I think its crazy. First off some kids peak long before others do especially girls. So a kid who is a stand out as a freshman or a sophmore amongst her peers may only be mediocre when she becomes a senior amongst her peers. Next there is so much movement with college coaches its insane. My daughter went on a visit in May last year, met with the coach, coach made her an offer and we said our goodbyes to think about it. Plus we had other schools we were looking at. Three days later we email the coach to find out a good time to talk to her because my daughter decided that was the school she wanted, only to get the email returned stating that the coach was no longer with the school. fast forward new coach is hired in July and doesnt even reach out to my daughter. Next scenerio is the kids change their minds about things. My daughter thought from the time she in 7th grade because we had looked at schools with my son that she wanted to go to a small school..fast forward five years later she decided on a school with 20,000 students. There is so much involved with committing young. It puts too much pressure on these kids to make decisions. They miss out on meeting other coaches, visiting other schools and have to decide their future when most 10th graders are barely 15. I think the NCAA needs to put stronger rules on the no contact of students before September 1st of their junior year like it used to be. It gives everyone a fare chance to develop and it stops other kids from feeling pressured because their peers are committed why arent I. My middle daughter in the fall of 10th grade was [lacrosse] bent on going to UMASS to play women's soccer, when it came time for the recruiting process to start she turned to us and stated I dont want to play in college...that was just one year later. Let them be kids as long as you can its the best thing for them...making adult decisions in 10th grade is insane!! Congrats to these young girls however but remember at the end of the day they are still only 15!!!
