Intolerance is all the rage these days.

Are showcases important/of value summer after 8th grade or freshman year in the fall? If so, any recommendations?

Zero value . I’ve had three kids go through this. Don’t waste your money or time .

When catholic priests asked middle school and hs students their orientation, interests and "experience" it was for grooming purposes.

At St Paul's it is just for .... "awareness."

Completely wrong. My son did showcases going into his Junior year and was recruited. It all depends on which showcases; One Percent, Juniors, Main Stage, Nike etc are all worth it if your son is invited.

The question was "are showcases worth it for 8th graders and fall of 9th grade year." junior year is a different question. so not "completely wrong".

Will St Mary’s win a conference game this? Seems like the program has really fallen off. How many players suspended for under age drinking at the Annapolis bars? where is the leadership from the school. The administration does not seem to care.

Half of the “invite only” showcases end up opening their registrations to everyone. I agree it all depends, but it all depends on the kid and finances, not the showcases. Save your money and invest it into prospect days at the schools your kid is interested. You get to know staff, players, campus and area all at the same time.

Saw the BL AS game. Spalding ssdm looked slow BL mids ran by them all day. SSDM trying to get style points instead of playing defense. Just not a good look.

Loyola looked awful against a horrendous MSJ squad that featured a Swiss cheese defense and a goalie that looks like he is in 7th grade. Face-offs were dismal. They better right that ship soon before real league action starts.

It depends on which ones you do but you really don't need to do them until summer going into sophomore year and they become really important summer going into Jr year, fall Jr year can help, summer goin into sr year and fall sr if still not getting that much recruitment. So for 8th grade summer NLF futures is good if his team isn't playing in the futures tournament. First Class BIC is good for fall and summer. Inside Lacrosse ID fall might involve this years Fr class since the summer one does but that's going into their soph year. Future Phenomes is one also. idk if the new balance and nike regional tryouts have happened in your region yet but could do tryout for those. If he is playing in high level tournaments this weekend he will be good also but just know kids don't get on the radar generally until soph summer but jr summer is the biggest for early recruitment and fall

Summarizing yesterday's action and reactions
- Spalding dad doesn't like the short stick middie play that cost them the game vs. BL. Cavs won in the style points column.
- John Carroll comes out in a zone and limits Severn who were without their fogo, best player, and great players on the bench. Odds makers were high.
- Loyola wins in Irvington, but looks awful against MSJ swiss cheese defense. Real action hasn't started yet for the Dons, but critics in midseason form.
- St. Mary's has fallen off according to bench dad and falls to Calvert Hall who has defensive issues according to Cards dad.
- St. Paul's is for real this year, but just not on defense. McDonogh's defense has fallen off but it doesn't matter when you put up 21. Win well documented by Millon's media gaggle.
- Gilman beats Ohio team and starts working on zone offense.

Severn give the second year goalie a shot. With McD coming up please give the senior a day off to refocus. The poor guy needs to get his mind together. Who knows he may come back stronger! How many 3 saves performance do you need to see.

BL is a seasoned team with something to prove after last years playoff loss. The Spalding faceoff player looked to have the upperhand yesterday vs. the BL FOGO. Goalie play on both ends was solid. I see spalding playing most teams close this year. They seem to play to the ability of thier oponents.

McDonogh has the best attack in the MIAA, hands down. Their defense is good enough. Whatever the case, for them to put up 20+ vs. St. Pauls is a statement. St. Pauls had looked solid up until yesterday. It is one game, maybe St. Pauls will bounce back. St. Pauls will rely on fast break transition play to win.

MSJ owned Loyola in possesions/faceoffs but could not get it done which is wild. Loyola has a couple top tier defensemen and a couple attack players who are legit. Thier defense will keep them close in most games, it is a seasoned gruop with the long poles. MSJ, well, they will scrap every game but may be lucky to win 1 or 2.

John Carroll simply beat Severn with a zone defense and possesions from the faceoff. They controled the time of possesion and played the clock very smart. Great coaching! The Senior Severn goalie is on the struggle bus, just shoot on him, your team will score 80% of the time. Remeber to hit the cage. They better hope they get thier Senior FOGO back ASAP or they will go winless in the MIAA. The "Little Admirals" coaches really need to make adjustments in goal and work a better offense.

Calvert Hall all is a well built team and will do well. They seem to have the total package. I forsee the top 3 teams being McDonogh, Calvert Hall and BL. The 4th bestteam is a wild card. St. Marys will struggle at the faceoff dot with their what should have been primary faceoff guy commiting to Navy to play foortball and not playing LAX this year. St. Marys will move the ball well if they get possesion. They have a seasoned goal keeper and defensemen who will step up.
