I remember 91 playing Madlax in the championship game at Naptown and at the NLF Championship. They also played the Hawks at the NLF Kickoff. Please let us know when Igloo or Legacy are showing up to an NLF event. Then we can talk about 91 not travelling in the Fall.

You can bash the MLT all you want as many if not all the LI teams play in it for 1 reason or another. 91 keeps getting bashed up and down each year, but essentially rarely get beaten or even consistently get beat by any of the LI teams and the Pride only lost once to a LI team and that was this year by 1 goal in fall ball to Igloo. 91 plays enough against all the other “top” clubs and compete in every single game against them while generally being an entire year younger than those non-LI teams. So until the local teams that your son is affiliated with starts to beat 91 for the first time ever or beats them consistently then you can come on this board with some credibility.

Yeh the other Long Island B teams play in the MLT tournaments, not the AA teams!

Pretty sure Igloo AA was at Laxfest last summer.

This parent who has nothing else to do but bash 91 during the holidays is either:

A) delusional
B) a troll
C) a bitter former 91 parent
D) all of the above

I don’t think he’s bashing 91, just stating the obvious. They control the MLT tournaments and for the most part many AA teams don’t attend, not just talking about this grade level but most grade levels. There are times that AA teams show up but they are few and far between as many other tournaments draw better competition across multiple age groups.

He or she bashed 91 by stating that they play mainly in the MLT and stay away from playing top competition as well as for the most part teams from the DMV which is false. Once again, whomever he or she is, the fact is that amongst the LI teams, 91 is consistently the best team with Igloo and Express always in the mix. To bring any other facts in or to make snide remarks is just childish.

91 at younger ages doesn’t travel to DMV the way other programs do and they play MLT tournaments much more than the other clubs. This is by design so they can win t shirts and recruit players young. There is much too much made by parents chasing T Shirts. No one cares what your 6th grade record was, high school and colleges don’t care. Make sure you go somewhere where you can play and develop. All these teams send players to college. If you are willing to put in the work and you have a good coach you will get better.

Irrespective of what the 91 or any other organizations formula for success or attempted success may be, to continually bash 91 at this age group or any other age group as it relates to their tournament selection is just childish. Whomever your son plays for, until they beat 91 on a consistent basis, 91 will continue to be the top club in LI and will always be in the top 10 mix nationally regardless if the age rules remain or change.

Then maybe the rest of the clubs should follow their lead if that in fact is the recipe to their success.

If your kid is not one of the top five players on his travel team by 9th grade he won’t be playing D1!

No kidding.
Why would they go to DMV to play kids 1.5 - 2yrs older than them?
We do not holdback in LI.
They aren't dense - they will send their teams to play in DMV in HS when your holdback nonsense plays less of a factor.

Don’t kid yourself. Plenty of holdbacks in LI over the years. Just not as profound as in MD and other areas because of the stronger academic public schools on LI

…And get spanked… actually, St Anthony’s didn’t even have to travel to the DMV to get rolled— St John’s came up and did it to them on their own turf. I think it was like 12-2 at one point in the 4th Qtr.

Did a high school parent from the DMV site mistakenly jump into a 6th grade NY forum? SMH.

No there's not. A handful yes, in a few private schools, but other than that - 95% on age.
NY is the reason the rest of the country has to holdback. Fact.

There aren’t plenty of holdbacks on Long Island. There are incredibly few. We have great schools and the great players play up in age. Sorry but go back to the Maryland Board with holdback talk where it belongs.

We were missing guys,it was windy,my kids shoe was untied, the wind wasn’t right.
Wow.Stop with excuses! Igloo beat you!I bet you weren’t the only team missing guys or dealing with adversity that day but this board only hears it from the 91 daddy’s or daddy coaches that come on hear like little children making excuses. And now it’s “wait till summer”.Wait for what? You think you are the only team training and working hard? Express was missing guys and only lost by 1.Igloo won by 1 but all we hear is 91s problems and excuses.Cry baby’s!Summer can not come fast enough!

***** Wow! You must make sure you get your frustrations c before the last few hours of 2022! No one made any excus about 91 losing to Igloo. Statements were made in respons the attacks of how 91 rarely travels anywhere and rarely pl any top teams outside of LI and keeps its ranking due to pl in the "MLT" venues. The fact remains that 91 at this age only lost to 1 team and that was to Igloo by 1 goal. That is generally the case at every age group from 2030's and spa the other years as well. LI teams don't fare historically or consistently well against 91 "AA" teams. Until that changes keep getting your blood pressure checked constantly!

Look at the teams at these “National” events in Texas and Florida. Texas had 3 age groups (2027-2029) playing one another. Half of the teams in that bracket were Team 91. 91 has multiple “National” teams of the same age. Save your money. Tournament in Florida had much better teams and better attended but still it’s really for the clubs that have a hard time finding good competition within driving distance of their homes. The east coast doesn’t have a problem finding great competition. I think the National teams are a huge waste of money and devalue the main clubs they represent. If the AA team isn’t playing the top competition then get rid of it and just have a national model. It’s a money grab. The AA teams can find tough competition all along the eastern seaboard. In my opinion National teams are the club’s way of trying to open up a new revenue stream and kids have been getting college scholarships without ever needing this in the past.

It’s gives parents a chance to say their son made the “national team” meanwhile all you have to do is basically pay and you are on in NY.It’s just another way for parents to try and get their players name out there all the while it is just a huge money grab and some b level lacrosse.

Not going to affect anyone in the immediate vicinity.

Most of the HOCO teams at this grade that I have seen I would guess are not loaded with holdbacks.

Nationals LC. They roll mostly holdbacks.

Holdbacks happen less than you think. It’s most parents on here complaining. I would guess there are 5 or 6 total in the entire 2029 HOCO league.

That’s laughable. Go on the MD site and see how they’re complaining about the possible rule change. There’s plenty of holdbacks at every age group in HOCO.
