Thoughts on having 29’ play year round or play other sports in the off season. Seems like the rec club team support this compres to the private clubs a little more.

As long as your playing other sports in addition to lax year round is fine. But every coach is looking for atheletes who happen to be good at lacrosse. One sport is not the way.

The most important thing is each kid's passion and work ethic. If he put his stick down after his last game in May, and hasn't picked it back up, he maybe doesn't want to play all year. Or he's not ready for that pressure. Not a dealbreaker at this age. At the end of 8th grade....yes.

Also, there's "playing all year" and PLAYING ALL YEAR.

Most coaches and pediatricians agree:
1) Some "time off" is good
2) It doesn't hurt to pick up the stick a few times a week in the off-season (Aug-January) ("playing all year")
3) Huge benefits to focusing on different sports in fall and winter, maybe working out with lax on their day off their winter sport.

That said, there are some clubs that want you playing lax 3-5x per week, plus 4 fall tourneys, plus a fall box league, plus a winter box league, plus 5-6 summer tournaments. "PLAYING ALL YEAR." I'm not really confident that's good for most athletes under 15 years old. And it's offered/required by some clubs.

Curious to hear what 2029 teams improved and picked up new additions?

Hawks?
Madlax?
Next Level?
True Annapolis?
Bethesda?
LTLC?
Team 91 MD?
FCA?
Predators?

Word on the street is that two true players heading to hawks. Their best middie and a starting defender. But they have one more tryout next week so I think that is just hearsay for now.

I hope it’s not true. If so, which true?

Aren’t all the “true’s” the same now. They are literally cherry picking kids from all their regional teams to try to compete. Then they are also going to be putting kids from all over the country on their hoco rosters and having them come in for games they need help.

True had become the biggest joke in hoco. Already a joke nationally.

True Baltimore 2028 failed a roster check in the 2021 HoCo semifinals and sent 7? kids off the field.

The 2024s were DQ'ed from a tournament in 2019 after hiding an unrostered player underneath a snack table in their tent.

So you are a little late to the party. True will play anybody they can fly in to support their corporate brand. The difference between them and Crabs, 91, Madlax etc is that those teams make sure they get the "guest players" on the approved roster. For True, the approved roster is more like a "suggestion."

So hawks may have gotten a good true player or two.
What other upgrades are in the works for other teams?

Confirmed that Bethesda did lose several key player to NL and Madlax.

LTLC lost 1-2, no one significant, but didn't gain anyone either

Predators added 6-7 new players and should be much better

Team Marylanad added some new talent

FCA lost a couple younger guys, but not sure what they added

Team91 MD lost a few, but picked up some new talent as well

True rosters are upmost always inaccurate. True Baltimore 26s added a couple kids mid-year last season after rosters were already submitted.

And the league sent out a memo- the True director got kicked off the sidelines for not wearing his badge. He told the ref he was going to get it from the car. And hoped the ref wouldn’t follow up.

It’s Amateur Hour over there.

LTLC lost 1-2 players who reclassed to 2030. Not sure what 2030 team they ended up on.

FCA gained a big and fast 2028 who just reclassed to 2029.

A joke nationally is a bit of a stretch. Their ‘28 team is ranked #1 in the country. Wonder what that means for all the teams below them.

Their 28 team is rarely the same team twice and got their clocks cleaned this summer (games i witnessed) which has yet to be addressed in the rankings (submission changes were due yesterday). The team they had in January at theUSCL tourney in Orlando was stellar, however. How they played since was not elite.

Please. Their 28 team is ranked #1…according to an algorithm that has them playing in three events. Give me a break.

When they beat the hawks we can talk. That same hawks team that just took that number 1 ranked teams best goalie, defender and attackman. They don’t compete with the east coast teams at all. And when they do they get beat by 10.

True is a joke.

Don’t know what games they got their clocks cleaned. Maybe updated rankings will reflect but #1 ranking and 20-2 record is pretty good.

True is a joke.

True IS a joke. But the 2028 national black team is legit. Now it’s a national team that pulls from like a pool of 400 kids but it’s good. The totally could beat the hawks. Hawks has lost to worse teams you know.

Anyway, the best True real teams are true annapolis. And that is thanks to the Cutters. Has nothing to do with them developing a soul.

Fair to say the ‘29 team is also legit. Only played at Naptown but had one practice and lost twice in one goal games to Madlax National.

My reference was meant to talk about the regional teams that feed it. Someone made the comment that tries national team was number one and made the inference that if they were good then they wonder how good the regional teams were. My point was that they aren’t good. Except maybe in their own region (outside of Annapolis/md) Bc in this region they are not anywhere close to being king.

True national black has historically been good but that too started with mostly USS kids. That was the first national team to hand 2028 madlax it’s first loss down in Orlando.

Honestly why are we talking about a national team anyway? So what, true has one decent team and it’s a national team.

True, that!

Every age group is different, but generally Hawks and ML parents get all amped-up and lose perspective that it’s just youth sports. A lot can happen between 6th grade and HS, so just relax and let the kids have fun.

2026 hawks parents have chilled out considerably in the last year or so once they started losing some games. Until 7th grade when they were like 92-1 the parents were out of control. Losing can be humbling I guess.

I believe the Hawks just nabbed four of the original Cutters and they only have like 2 left on that True Annapolis team….so their National Black team will suffer…

I heard they had a hard time getting teams. Not surprising, fall sports are in high gear and lots of conflicts. Maybe Sunday would have been a better choice?

I doubt much active recruitment was needed. BLC got absolutely crushed at the end of last season, so it’s not a surprise some players would be looking to bail.

There wasn't a big recruitment effort for the BLC kids move to ML. Most of their school friends left a year or two ago to ML. It's about friends playing with friends. Bound to happen.

Crease has Box tryouts beginning this Sunday and they appear to have a 2029 option.

Yeah, I'm interested in this as well. Surprised their are no indoor leagues that a 2029 team could partiicpate in for the summer. Nothing at GOALS, etc??
