Madlax is indeed a AAAA team without their big star. They can’t win a Faceoff. Coaches son is 3A at best. Attack is small. Defense is their best unit, and they’re going to need it.

Please stop talking about Cabel’s son negatively. He’s still just a 6th grader who is just a kid.

Some truth to this. They had a pole taking all of their FO’s yesterday against us, long year for them if they can’t get the ball.

Not true - MadLax came within four goals of the Hawks, who are a legitimate top 5-10 team in the country. MadLax has holes, but is an elite team on the local level, whether you like them or not.

Boy. The narrative has surely changed here. A few months ago all the madlax dads were talking about how much better they are then hawks etc. hawks are clearly the best team in the country right now. But what exactly is happening to madlax?

Do hawks have any starters who are actually on age for 6th grade?

Perspective. It was the second game of the season, and MadLax always comes to play when playoffs roll around. They’ve played an exceptional Hawks team and a super-athletic NL team in their first two regular season games. Yesterday’s game could have gone either way. Anyone doubting Cabel’s coaching ability or the team’s talent hasn’t been paying attention. That said, they need to find more go-to scorers when #47 gets shut down. I’ll bet they do.

If you look at the 2026 division - there is a team that was dominant in elementary school.

As soon as middle school started they slowly started to fall off.

No shame for Madlax. They’re a good team. Rough patch. Lotsa great players. Next Level- same thing, good team. Couple studs on that roster, big imposing goalie.

Hawks are prob the top team in the country, outside of some all star national teams pulling from states. And some of those teams are populated with Hawks players. This hawks team lives entirely within a 30mile radius.

Id watch out for Madlax if people they are down and out for good

Guys, nobody dislikes the Madlax coach or parents more than me, but they're a great team. They played the two of the best teams in the league right out of the gate. They'll be fine IF...

The get a new coach who doesn't spew vitriol at his players when the going gets tough; AND

They get rid of a couple of their parents who are absolute jokes. Two prime examples are the guy who yells at the refs the entire game with absolutely no awareness he's a world class donk and the guy who wrote on this board that if they play Next Level ten times they'd each win 5. Both are detrimental to the team's success.

Neither will happen. So I guess they won’t be fine?

Literally every team from Elite to A has parents who yell at the refs the whole game.

Every year there is at least one team that underperforms in elite just because the league is so deep. Last year it was Next Level and this year it is Madlax so far. Next Level was a top 10 or so team on the summer circuit despite going 2-5 in HoCo last year. Madlax is still a top 10 team. It is hard to win games in elite. Even the bottom few teams that get kicked around in elite have had some quality results when playing out of area teams.

I agree that trashing a kid is completely off limits. Full stop. It's not the kid's fault who his dad is. What I would add is that Cabell absolutely thrashes his players. It's disgusting. The players' body language says it all and it's no wonder Madlax is filled with talent but lose. He takes all the fun out of the game in his drive to "win". Call people out on here, yes, but take a hard look at your sideline. One is far more impactful than the other.

Madlax Beat Hawks in the summer. They will go back and forth. That’s what good competitors do.

Madlax beat the Hawks in July. They battle back and forth. Great competition for the 2 best 28 teams in this area, hands down.

Hawks Dad doesn't seem to grasp what a radius is. NO, Hawks kids don't all come from a little concentrated area. Goalie from Delaware has to drive 70 miles+. Unless Hawks flying kids in on a helicopter, there are several from well outside 30 mile radius. Whereas other teams all come from much smaller geographic areas (10 mile radius), but with more population density.

It’s all good. He drives himself to games in a Model S with yo mama riding shotgun.

Hawks are out there with the entire eastern shore and southern MD up to DE to snag players from.

Huge recruiting area + oldest roster = a terrific team.

They will be very hard to beat until 8th grade when they will come back to the pack.

Yes, they have exclusive access to the hotbed of Delaware lacrosse! Other teams only get pipelines from Virginia and Maryland’s western shore, two of the worst states on the seaboard for lacrosse and athletes in general.

Koopers didn’t have enough kids.they had 12 at first then they kept dropping. When other teams hold 25-30 kid rosters it’s hard to sustain.

Most of the clubs playing in HoCo have rosters from 1-2 counties only, and are competing with 5-10 other clubs in that same county. Kelly Post doesn't have a kid traveling more than about 10 miles to practice. Madlax, maybe 20-25 miles.

Whereas On the eastern shore, the best 2 players at every MS/HS have two "competitive" tryout options: Hawks and 302. Driving 1-2 hours each way to practice. It's a nice big geography to work with. And to boot, 302 gets about 1/2 of their players from Wilmington DE private/boarding schools, and Hawks gets a ton of their players from right in Annapolis (and 30 miles south, north and west not including the entire eastern shore).

But the Koopers Club is (sort of) separate from the (former) Koopers/St Pauls league.

Several clubs have tried and failed to grow a 2028 team in MD. Maybe it's because 91 and NL now want to put 30 kids on the roster. Maybe it's because FCA's new model is like girls lax, with their 3x 2028 teams. I think part of it is that (some of) the rec clubs are putting better coaching, facilities, and opportunities in front of their players than in the past, and defections won't hit until after 8th grade.

You know nothing. There are a ton of options on the eastern shore. 302 is not one of them. If you’re good and live in Wilmington you try out for Philly area teams. No one from Wilmington plays for the Hawks. Madlax’s entire offense comes from Charlottesville. Kids want to play with great players and great coaches. The Hawks is one option. Stop whining. This is the oddest argument and your evidence is terrible. You’re a donkey. It’s okay. Just move on.

Totally agree, we are newer to the lacrosse world. But have seen how hard it is for historically great clubs to get 2028 teams. Leaving some kids with 3rd string spots for a plethora of reasons not their fault. Breakers, green turtle, Koopers.. all struggled looneys too..
