Spot on, sir. Close games are gonna start happening as these teams get into the grind. Back to back to back to back tough games will do that. None of this WCAC “2 hard games per season” stuff.

WCAC slapped the MIAAs top teams like Chris Rock got slapped. Time to take the “WCAC out your F’ing mouth” Focus on the mediocre MIAA season.

HAHAHA..hit a nerve maybe, comments like that are like the guy in the bar mad becasue his wife has been starring at you all night. Mad and makes a fool of himself cause thats all he can do is run his mouth.
MIAA folks are just fine talking about their medicore league and season all day long. What do we call the WCAC season and league if the MIAA is mediocre? Have fun discussing that league with anyone that will listen to your tough talk keyboard warrior.Dudes wear more school gear than their own kids. Including Quarter Zips,Winter Jackets,Jogging Suits, Socks, Bathing Suits..

Paul VI and even The Heights gave Gonzaga much tougher games than McDonogh and LB. So much for this two hard games nonsense. The MIAA is still the deepest league out there, but it's levels weaker at the top than it was 10-15 years ago. Lucky for them IL's main HS guy has MIAA-tinted glasses and continues propagating the myth that there are 5 teams in the league that belong in the top 25 every year.

As a fan(former dad) of the MIAA, do the top teams like BL and Calvert Hall really think games against the following are tough games year and year out? I know 1 or 2 will have a good team once in a blue moon but let’s be real.

John Carroll
Severn
Gilman
Spalding
Mt. St. Joe’s
St. Paul’s
Loyola Blakefield

If your knowledge of MIAA lacrosse only goes back 10 years or less, this makes sense.

As a "quarter zip comment guy" who didn't write that particular post, and who owns MIAA quarter zips, I think it's hilarious.

You WCAC guys need a day off work or something...sheeesh.....

They are tough games. You’re not really paying attention.

Loyola beat BL last year.
Gilman was 1 goal from beating CH
JC gave both STM and McD heartburn into the 4th Q last year. Severn did the same.
St Paul’s almost knocked off both McD AND BL
Spalding beat BL and CH last year- (CH twice)

In MD those ARE the consistently best teams year in and out. Even if you think they aren’t consistently good relative to CH and BL.

I think Loyola had BL down 7-3 at halftime in the playoffs last year, and I recall BL won 10-8, so yes I think BL would even consider even a mediocre Loyola team a "tough game." BL's coaching saved the day on that one.

If you ever travel for work, I encourage you to stop by a local HS lacrosse game anywhere else in the country (aside from SoCal, CT, MA, LI, and Westchester). You'll quickly learn that it isn't just "bias" and "MIAA colored glasses" or "WCAC colored glasses" that these teams are highly ranked in a field of (checked it) over 1,600 varsity HS programs, not 1500 as someone else said. The level of play at most HS programs nationally is abysmal compared to even the Heights, John Carroll, etc. Who are both in the top 100 nationally I'm sure.

Your contradict yourself in your own post. You admit upfront that your statement doesn't apply to half a dozen other hot beds, and then put John Carroll in your top 100 nationally. Saying that MIAA teams and WCAC teams are better than 1500-1600 varsity programs nationally doesn't mean that much when I could think of 30+ teams each in NY/NJ/CT that I could say the same about.

The MIAA is difficult but it's not the juggernaut it's made out to be. 6 of the past 8 seasons has had a team make it through the regular season unscathed, with 4 of those 6 going on to the win the whole thing. Of those teams only 2014 BL made it through their OOC schedule unscathed. heck, 2017 Calvert Hall ripped through the MIAA but lost to the only two teams of note that they played outside of the MIAA (Malvern Prep and Conestoga). It's a great league but it's hardly in a league of its own these days.

STM, BL, CH and McDonogh are legit contenders this year. The rest are pretenders.

I know this is a MIAA heavy message board but how good is St. John’s? They just dismantled Gonzaga. Gonzaga has had comfortable wins over McDonogh and Blakefield this season. And a win over Culver.

Add Spalding and you are correct.

That said, SP, LB, and even Severn could upset any of them. They can’t win 2-3 games… but they can get one!

Easily the best team in the country and one of the best high school squads in the past few decades. And this is coming from a MIAA homer.

30+ teams in each state that could beat 1500-1600 varsity teams nationally? Sure I'll take a stab

NY:
St. Anthony's
Chaminade
Manhasset
Garden City
Cold Spring Harbor
Farmingdale
South Side
Shoreham Wading River
Comsewogue
Northport
Ward Melville
Mount Sinai
Connetquot
Bay Shore
West Islip
Iona Prep
Bronxville
Yorktown
Rye
Mamaroneck
Pleasantville
Briarcliffe
Webster Thomas
Victor
Jamesille-Dewiit
Fairport
Niskayuna
Massapequa
Smithtown East
Smithtown West

CT:
Darien
Ridgefield
New Canaan
Staples
Wilton
Fairfield Prep
Cheshire
Fairfield Ludlowe
St. Joseph's
New Fairfield
Daniel Hand
Brunswick
Salisbury
Choate
Hotchkiss
Westminster
Weston
Greenwich
Taft
Simsbury
Glastonbury

NJ:
Delbarton
Seton Hall Prep
Mountain Lakes

Bergen Catholic
CBA
Ridge
Hunterdon Central
North Hunterdon

Manasquan
Rumson-Fair Haven
Pingry
St. Augustine Prep

So I made it to 30 in NY with ease, and made it 20+ each in NJ/CT easily before getting to debatable territory. Not perfect, but certainly way more than enough teams to illustrate my point.

SJC is great, maybe the best team in the country. That being said, Gonzaga was missing their best player, who was by a large margin their leading scorer. An analogy would be Spalding losing Weischier or MCD Millen.

Sir they got blown out by double digits and were never close in this game. 1 player isn’t making a 10+ goal difference. They were outmatched at every position.

The team that got exposed is Spalding. One good player isn’t going to be able to win you a championship. They were out coached and out hustled. Daddy MDLax’ kid can’t handle a long pole. BL, CH and STM will destroy that team. Party is over.
