You do realize that schools just can't decide to move down in classes? That classification is based upon the size of the respective school's student population and absolutely zero to do with team/program strength?

Yes I realize that and they all are under the 424 population number. Never said they CHOSE to move down.

Yes they can move up, Yorktown did it a couple of years ago to avoid that strong John Jay team.

Maybe Yorktown should move again. Only two NYS championships in the last quarter century tells the story. Other programs are ascending.

CT question. How good is SWC for lacrosse? They seem to have plenty of strong youth players but what happens in High School?

Some changes in classes for a few teams this year.
Class "A"- Teams remain the same. Top teams L/P,mahopac,Wappingers,Mamaroneck.
Class "B"- Rye drops out of "B". Top teams Yorktown, John Jay, Somers
Class "C"- This should be Rye's title to lose. Top teams Rye, Hen Hud, Bryam Hills, Pelham
class "D" should be fun to watch this year with Putnam Valley,Briarcliff, Pleasantville moving down to "D" . Top teams P-ville, Briarcliff, bronxville, Westlake.

Woah. Class D would beat Class A. Or hang very tough. Don't know of any other sport in Section 1 where tiny schools regularly play against and beat the huge schools.

How will the power issues and potential snow effect the scheduling? Is Yorktown even been open or is it other areas off 202 without power?

Not sure about the scheduling but none of the schools up here including Yorktown have been open since last Thursday due to storm and loss of power and with the coming storm will probably not be open til Friday. Most of the power is back as of today but not all of it.

--------------------------
Those are the teams.
PT should qualify, Eclipse maybe and others are longshots. Best teams have been together for years and cramming hard this month. Teams assembling pieces and trying to practice in a rush are easy prey.
For a "north" pool, the WSYL doesn't get any teams entering beyond Fairfield County and maybe 1 upstate NY team.

JJ hammered Smithtown East, my money is on JJ this year. It had to happen and it may be the new norm--JJ and Town really battling for the Section.

Any questions about Yorktown were answered last night. My son plays for Yorktown so yes I am biased but if the team out hustles every team they play this year, could be a special year. I love nothing more than a hard working, high energy team that gives 100%. Big win Town, keep it up.

Yes, great win but something brewing over in Huntington that's not good. Like Jay, you gotta move on to the next opponent. Good luck this season we are all watching.
